Join this Boro-style T-shirt workshop and discover the Japanese art of celebrating imperfection by mending and patching textiles. In this creative activity, you will learn how to transform a simple T-shirt into a unique and personal piece of wearable art.
During the three-hour session, you will learn the basics of sashiko stitching, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique used to reinforce and decorate fabric. Your friendly teacher will show you how to use a beautiful mix of hand-dyed shibori fabric, traditional Japanese printed textiles, and sashiko fabrics to create your one-of-a-kind design.
This workshop is proud to be working with End of More, a sustainable fashion brand. You will receive a high-quality, organic cotton T-shirt in your chosen size to work on and take home.
You'll leave the class not only with a beautiful, custom-made garment but also with the skills to continue mending and embellishing textiles, giving your clothing a new lease of life and a touch of personal history.

YICRAFTS is an east asian handcrafts studio based in north western London in Camden founded in 2019. Its focus is on the beautiful but vanishing traditional handcrafts and cuisine of China’s minority ethnicities. Intercultural sharing is constant and often unconscious throughout our daily lives, and hand crafts are the physical embodiment of culture and cultural sharing.
Founder Yiran is a member of Bai ethnic minority, and she has experienced the great diversity within the UK and London, but I have found that the diverse cultures of China’s numerous ethnic minorities are underrepresented, with ‘China’ viewed as a single cultural source. The opportunity to introduce and share the unique and sometimes surprising customs, traditions and practices of her home province inspires her.
It provides the chance to understand both commonalities and differences in culture, and to understand our shared history.
