Grow your skills alongside your very own tree in this six-part bonsai course in London, made for complete beginners.
The course follows the seasonal rhythm of the trees, so you'll learn each technique at the right time of year. Sessions may shift slightly depending on how the trees are growing, or to cover anything the group would like to talk about.
Across the six sessions, you'll cover:
  • Session 1: repotting and care (February)
  • Session 2: feeding and pests (March)
  • Session 3: pruning and wiring (April)
  • Session 4: discovering bonsai species (May)
  • Session 5: defoliation (June)
  • Session 6: deadwood artistry with jin and shari (July)
You'll work on your own Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) throughout the course, and it's yours to take home. All soil mixes, pots and wire are provided in each session, along with access to specialist bonsai tools.
After every class, you'll get a step-by-step aftercare guide so you know exactly how to look after your tree until we meet again. You'll also have direct advice and regular check-ins from your teacher throughout the growing season, so there's always someone to ask when a leaf does something unexpected.
By July, you'll have spent half a year learning the craft in real time, with a tree that's been shaped by your own hands and the know-how to keep it thriving for years to come.
What you'll get
Your Own Tree: A Japanese Acer Palmatum to work on and take home!

  • Step-by-Step Aftercare Guides: Custom guidance following each session so you know how to care for your tree between classes.

Hi, I’m Jerome. I fell completely in love with bonsai in 2019, and what started as a fun hobby quickly became my biggest passion. I’ve spent the last few years cultivating trees and connecting with amazing people in the bonsai community. Even now, I'm still learning new things every single month! That continuous journey is what makes it so special, and I’m so excited to share that passion with you in this course."
