Over four years ago, I started working for an agency as a walking tour guide in London. Last year, I decided to set up my own agency in order to provide unique and challenging tours, often quite different from the usual tourist-focused offferings. E.g., for Halloween/winter, I've created a ghost tour of one of the most historic areas of London - the City. So, I tell quite few ghost stories related to the location. But what is a ghost story? Do they have a common structure? They are expected to be 'uncanny', but what does that mean?Are there possible scientific explanations for the phenomena - some which do, and some which don't debunk?Join me on a voyage of discovery; let me know your thoughts - I'm genuinely interested.And as an exercise, try to work out which of the many stories I tell have emanated from no more uncanny source than my own imagination (a minority, in fact).
