Lino printing offers a fantastic way to transform any illustration into a design you can print again and again, perfect for decorating a huge range of projects. Lino printing blocks can be used to apply a design or a repeat pattern to different surfaces and fabrics.

The tutorial is designed for crafters of all abilities but it’ll be ideal for anyone who is new to lino cutting and printing. Hone your skills and enjoy wonderful inspiration, with the support of a craft expert on hand to help you along the way.

The Hobbycraft Artisan will show you how to work with your chosen template, how to cut into the lino tile with your tool and how to get printing with colourful inks. Enjoy mastering the techniques and sparking your creativity as you expand your artistic skillset.

At the end, you’ll have prints made with your newly cut lino design, ready to show off to friends and family. You’ll be able to repeat the print with your lino tile as many times as you like to personalise gifts, greetings cards and more.

Great class. Gisela has a lovely cheerful delivery and everything is explained and reinforced so that if you don't take in something initially you get it second time around. The information is given in a slightly different way so it's not boring. She takes time to alert the student with what could prove to be difficult parts and explains how these difficulties could be avoided or rectified. The 90 mins went by far too quickly. I really enjoyed myself and am glad that I signed up for this. I hope that there is an Intermediate Workshop.

Really paced workshop Great to revisit Lino printing. I haven’t done this since I was at school - far too many years ago.
Lovely tutor.
An ebi would be having a printing ink that didn’t dry so quickly I shall follow the advice given and try with a different ink

An excellent course, led by Chloe who is both friendly and knowledgeable. The kit provided arrived in plenty of time for the online class, and it contains extra ink, paper and lino, so you can make more prints after the class. During the class everything was explained clearly and there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I really enjoyed the session and the 90 minutes flew by; I will definitely be doing more lino printing.

Had a magnificent Lino printing class with my tutor who was extremely knowledgeable. Had the best time learning this new skill and it’s so fantastic to now be able to create my own designs and stamps in the future. The photo shows the pre designed artwork which came in the kit. (My kit accidentally got damaged in the post and my ink was affected but I was still able to create a selection of prints.)

I would give 5 stars for Gisela the teacher. She was great and I was the only one. (I can’t imagine a big class like 5+). I’m rating 3 stars because the materials are quite bad. I’m not sure if it was the roller or the ink but it didn’t work as it should. I think the ink was an issue. It really let it down. The ink didn’t cover the roller properly or the tray, and the ink was awkward. I think the hand guard was a good idea but for a larger hand -ie a man’s hand. Overall it was good thanks to the teacher but was let down by poor quality materials.

A very enjoyable workshop. The tutor was lovely and cheerful. Her instructions were clear and understandable and I am very pleased with my results.
The equipment was easy to use and there was plenty of paper and ink for the workshop as well as another lino tile and design to use later. Shall look at other on-line workshops now.

I'd give the teacher 5* as she was very good. However, I've given an overall of 4* rating as the paint provided in the kit did not work well.

I enrolled both my daughter and I in this class, and neither of us were getting particularly good results. The teacher didn't use the same paint as us as she said she'd run out of the one that came with the kit and she was using another. A couple of times she mentioned the brand of paint she was using, so after the class we popped down to Hobbycraft and bought that paint and it worked for us both first time! If she hadn't mentioned about trying other paints we'd have given up on Lino printing thinking it doesn't work for us, so that's why I've marked the overall result down to 4*.

Picture is with the Essdee paint that we purchased as an extra to the kit. This brand of paint was also much easier to clean up the equipment after use.

I hadn’t tried Lino printing before and was worried it would be really difficult. However Giselle took us through all the steps at a good pace and explained things brilliantly. I found it especially helpful when she showed us examples of things that might go wrong with our prints and how to rectify them. I’ve already given a print away as a gift

I really enjoyed this workshop! It's the first Hobbycraft workshop that I have done but it won't be the last as I found it really enjoyable and a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
The instructor Gisela was really patient, knowledgeable and friendly, she immediately put me at ease. The linoprint I made needs more practice for it to look like the illustration, but I feel I've got a great foundation now to build on. Thank you Hobbycraft for not cancelling the workshop due to a low number of sign-ups and in particular to Gisela for her great instruction and endless patience! Thank you.

If there were separate marks for the tutor I would definitely give her 5 but the materials were disappointing. The gravers were all blunt and subsequently the lino was too hard to cut into. I would suggest softer lino for this beginner's session, which is available in the same range. The kit supplied is also available as standard stock from Hobbycraft but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The paint included is also too thick and sticky.

Really enjoyable class! Never tried lino before and now I feel inspired and able to make my own projects. The kit came in plenty of time with everything needed, and 90mins was perfect session length. Just a note for any fellow introverts - you can be as involved or quiet as you like in the online class, there is 0 pressure to turn on the mic if you'd rather not.

Really friendly instructor with loads of great tips! The course was well timed and the kit came with extra templates and lino so you can do more printing after the course as well. This was a great introduction to Lino printing for someone who had never done it before. The kit is very good value for money, you get everything you need. I did find the ink a bit too thick though but it might be possible to water it down. The time passed very quickly and I found the workshop quite therapeutic! Would certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested in seeing if it for them or just having a fun one and a half hours. The tutor explained everything very clearly and was very patient!

it was great to be able to have a go under guidance
it was obvious that I need more practice!
the tutor was great and very understanding

she seemed at times to be making marks on the lino that could not be seen on camera but became apparent once the ink was applied and a press made
maybe referral could be made to the finished print so that all could see what the finished outcome was to be

The teacher was very articulate and precise in her teaching of how to carve the block. She seemed to cover most things and was happy to answer questions.
She gave us lots of ideas of how to make the design ourown.

But the actual block (lino) we carved was very hard and so I slipped a lot when carving it and it did not print well. In fact I was disappointed when I printed my design.

the course was informative and the presenter very good at answering questions and explaining the process. However I felt the quality of ink provided was poor. It pooled in the tray and no matter how often you rolled it out to make a full cover in the tray it would retract and gather like oil on water in the tray and on the roller. It made having a successful even roll on the tile very difficult for beginners and the outcomes were not as we would have hoped. My fellow student had used printing ink before and felt it was too quick drying. Whatever was the problem it spoilt the experience, although the presenter did her best to help us with the problem and gave us tips to avoid it.

The tutor gave lots of handy tips whilst demonstrating the basics of lino cutting. she was patient and you felt if necessary you could ask a question at the end. She only had time to demonstrate one of the stencils but the instructions & tips would be the same for the other stencil. Everything you need for the session is included in the kit which arrived in plenty of time and well packaged. Treat yourself & learn a new craft.

This was an enjoyable class which was well paced and had plenty of time so it wasn’t rushed. The materials provided were good quality and fit for purpose. It was a little difficult to see the technique the artisan was using to cut the lino on the camera - mine didn’t seem to cut as deep as hers but i was able to carry out the techniques to create a good result for a first attempt. I will definitely give the other template a go and add some more details to the first one.

A good introduction to a beginner, with very friendly and encouraging leader. Lots of opportunity to ask questions.
I liked Rugilee and her openness ,but the constant rapid fire comments ,spoken so fast, were a little off putting. She did inspire to try this medium further.

Rugilee was a very good tutor and explained every stage well. The kit arrived on time . Unfortunately, I only received one template instead of two. The template missing was the one the auto asked us all to do. This is the reason the workshop recieved a 4 star rating, had all the kit ben delivered it would most certily merit a 5 star review.

Some useful tips on improving the look of the lino print design, and getting a good finish when you are printing. A friendly host who didn't rush through the instructions.

I missed the beginning as i had trouble connecting to Zoom and it took quite a few attempts to get it up and working - I had to do that on the browser as i couldn't find the app I downloaded so I'm not sure what I missed I also have never used zoom so had no idea what I was doing in terms of being able to leave a chat msg or question, or how to add applause to the screen like one participant did

Excellent instruction from the tutor Rugile. She was so friendly, helpful and patient. She was able to answer any questions clearly and obviously had a thorough knowledge of products and techniques. She explained different options for printing so we could see what worked best for us and for developing further - for example she was able to answer my questions about printing on fabric using different inks.
The kit itself was excellent and delivered in plenty of time as was the email about joining the online class.

This was my first on-line course with Hobbycraft and I really enjoyed it. The kit arrived a couple of days before the course and had everything I needed. The instructor gave very clear directions and I achieved a print I was very happy with.

Great class. The host was very friendly and welcoming. She explained the process clearly as we went through the steps and was happy to answer questions as we went along, and at the end. We were given lots of helpful information. We even had a little history of Lino printing. The class was well paced and I had time to complete several prints, though I will go back and add a few more details to my Lino.
The box arrived quickly after booking had closed, so it arrived in plenty of time for the workshop.
I would have preferred an in person class, for greater personal interaction, but as this was not available in my area a zoom class was the only option.
Overall I would recommend this class.

I enjoyed the Lino printing workshop. The class was online and intimate (there were two other students). The Artisan Rachel was very passionate and knowledgeable and put her enthusiasm across. Online - we were able to share as much or as little as we wanted, the students said hello on video, then switched to chat. Being a very hot day (its got hotter since) the ink was a bit troublesome and stuck to the paper, but advice was provided, and I got some good prints off. I will need more practice, but this was an excellent introduction having never done lino printing before.
