Get hooked on crochet with our beginner’s tutorial! Enjoy this relaxing craft as you get to grips with the simple skills you’ll need to stitch beautiful designs, with one of our craft experts on hand to guide you through the steps.

This workshop provides a wonderful introduction to the world of crochet, perfect if you’re a complete beginner. Through the course of the workshop, you’ll learn double stitch and treble stitch. You’ll also be shown how to create a chain, working in rows to create a tension square.

You’ll have a craft kit included, ensuring you’ve got the yarn and hook you need. It’s a great opportunity to pick up techniques you can then put into practice when you move on to other patterns.

Throughout the tutorial, you will be able to ask any crochet questions you may have.

Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Jess was great. As a left hander I would have liked someone who was left handed too. Jess was able to assist me but isn’t left handed so she did her best. All 3 stitches were learnt and we had plenty of time to practise and correct errors. Looking forward to practising at home.

My daughter and I attended the session and it was Fantastic The teacher was absolutely lovely she was so patient with me (not my daughter as she was flying through it!) she was so friendly and approachable when ever I got stuck! Made me feel like I could keep asking over and over again. We definitely want to come back! The staff were all lovely too! They saw us before the session and they stopped us on the way out to ask how it was. The manager was lovely also she was chatting away to my daughter to make her feel comfortable at the start.

Dany was very patient, helpful and friendly teacher. We all had one to one instructions for each new stitch. We were taught the basic stitches which now hopefully I can practice at home.

Just taken the class Beginners guide to crochet, I had never picked up a crochet hook in my life and you could tell, but by the end of it I could sort of crochet, some of the others in the class were learning it more easily , me not so fast but Danny really helped us all. I can sort of crochet which considering when someone tried to teach me to knit before they failed miserably I think the class was brilliant. It's a great way to learn the basics and I think after the advice and teachings of Danny I will be able to crochet properly in future (after lots of practice). Definitely value for money, the class went by so fast. Recieved a bag with a crochet hook and 2 chunky balls of wool to practice with.

The teacher was great. Really helpful in showing both right handed and left handed techniques. The only thing was that this slowed down the learning process. We learnt 3 basic stitches and were then finally shown how to put these together and how to follow basic patterns. We were given 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook which were chunky to make the learning process easier. I feel that the price was fair for the time that we had with the teacher. I feel confident in the 3 basic stitches and I am now ready to start practicing independently, thank you!

Although it was good, I felt I needed more and would happily have paid more for a longer session, to learn a few more basics. It was good value for money, as you got a hook with wool in a bag, so plenty to practice with. I would recommend to others as a beginners course and I would consider attending other courses too!

Great beginners introduction to crochet at Bolton this afternoon with Danny. My daughter and I were complete beginners and left with a finished sample piece having learnt the three basic stitches. Lovely quiet , calm area to work in and a good pace to follow along. Nice little kit to get started.

The tutor was so patient & friendly & very knowledgeable not to mention talented in her subject area. Wool & crochet hook were provided as was lots of advice. We had a really patient teacher in the crochet class who was very approachable and encouraging
We learnt how to start with crochet doing a chain stitch - then we did the double and we were also taught the treble stitch. I was very impressed with our teacher as she stayed in to make sure we “mastered” that
We were given 2 balls of wool & a crochet hook & hard card instructions & diagrams of what we had learned.
Great value
Unfortunately my only criticism is the wool was too thick but other than that everything was fantastic
I’d love to do a further follow on crochet course though
