  • 5/5 from Yiqing He, attended Sep 2026: The teacher is knowledgeable and very passionate about the beekeeping career, he care’s about this creature. We learned a lot about the bees and their habits, tasted honey from different city farms.
  • 5/5 from Ayesha Ayub, attended Sep 2026: Mittal was an amazing tutor, he’s well versed in the entomology of bees and clearly has a passion for the preservation of nature’s such beautiful creatures. He gave us an informative background with facts we’ve never heard of before! We were able to have an intimate interaction with his hive’s little bees (“the girls”) and they were absolutely stunning. An experience that will last a lifetime. Thank you so much for a beautiful day!
  • 5/5 from Yasmin Clark, attended Sep 2026: Meetal was fantastic, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and keen for everyone to enjoy the session!! Highly recommend this experience!
  • 5/5 from Karen Hatchett, attended Sep 2026: A really enjoyable experience at Stepney City Farm with beekeeper Meetal... The first part was an informtive talk about bees including the different types of bee in the hive and what they do. I loved the explanation and video clip of the little "waggle" dance they do to tell other bees in the hive when they find a good nectar source: fascinating. We then visited a hive, first donning protective suits. As Meetal opened the hive, we saw the bees in action and the honey they had produced on the individual frames with bees actually carrying bits of pollen they had collected from flowers. We could also see the cells where eggs for new bees had been laid and on one frame young bees emerging out of the cells. Meetal allowed us to hold up and take a close look at a couple of the frames ourselves. Finally we returned to the classroom where we had a final Q+A and were able to do some honey tasting. An excellent experience and Stepney City Farm was a friendly location (close Limehouse DLR - 2 stops from Bank) with a great café.
  • 5/5 from Jessie Mao, attended Sep 2026: Really lovely workshop, the presentation at the start was very informative, fun and engaging. Learnt so much about honeybees and their importance to the local ecosystem. Went to see the beehives and got to hold and touch honey bees - highlight of the day. Ended with a honey tasting of 5 varieties of urban honey.
  • 5/5 from Henryk Feszczur, attended Sep 2026: The beeekeeping experience was excellence. We were lucky to have good weather which certainly helps. The first part was a one hour talk on bees and bee keeping - it was fascinating and delf more like 15 minutes. The presenter was entertaining and answered questions in a clear way with some humour to help things along. It was explained clearly and simply yet covered a lot. The second half was seeing the hive - we donned protective equipment provided. The hive was opened up and we could see the bees (and even one 'hatching'). We held the 'plates' as well. The small group (max 12 which we were) was about right - enough to see and experience everything yet with enough others to ask questions. In short, absilutely fantastic.

He also spent time answering my questions at the end which was very valuable and greatly appreciated.

Good mix of sit-down, educational content and hands-on experiences of the hive. • 5/5 from Susan Chakelian, attended Sep 2025: I was gifted this beekeeping experience by my daughter and what a wonderful gift it was! It started with a very informative talk about how the beehive actually works and the roles of each bee. There was then plenty of time to don the suits, open the hive and hold the honeycombs covered with busy bees and learn still more. There was always time for questions too. After this there was still time to taste different honeys from several areas of London which was great and then the opportunity to buy some. I highly recommend this experience to everyone! Thank you so much Pearly Queen!

Tasting the honey at the end of the session was a lively touch and really rounded off the experience!

  • 5/5 from Freda Francis, attended Apr 2025: What a wonderful way to spend a sunny Sunday morning. Such an amazing experience, I absolutely enjoyed myself and the time spent learning about bees, found out alot of fascinating things that I didn't know. Meetal's knowledge about bees was brilliant, and this class has definitely sparked my interest into hopefully keeping bees sometime in the future. Thank you Meetal for an amazing experience. Regards Freda
  • 5/5 from Paul Cardwell, attended Apr 2025: Very good, Very informative, highly recommend this class, although the hives could be moved into slightly bigger grass area as we had bit of trouble trying to see teacher and the hives, but apart from that the experience was excellent. Regards Paul Cardwell.
  • 4/5 from Yasar Aziz, attended Apr 2025: Fantastic course. Meetal was very patient and informative. Only downside is it was a bit crowded for the space available.
  • 5/5 from Marnie Winston-Fletcher, attended Sep 2024: Meetal gave a brilliant intro to beekeeping! We started with a very interesting (and at times funny!) talk about honeybees- including their behaviours, honey making, threats, colony life cycle etc. We then got to put on suits and see the bees up close and personal which was a brilliant experience. Thank you!!
  • 5/5 from Joyce Tan, attended Sep 2024: Amazing insight into the world of beekeeping. It was so informative and such a privilege to interact with the bees in Meetal's beehive. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and learnt a lot about bees! Meetal's passion for beekeeping is also wonderful to see
  • 5/5 from Isabel, attended Sep 2024: Was gifted this class for my birthday and had a great time! I learnt loads about bees (my work colleagues are likely now sick of me telling them bee facts - I’m not usually this weird, they are just very cool). The instructor was a fountain of knowledge and really lovely. I also tested my metal by getting close to the hive. Being able to suit up and hold some of the frames covered in bees was mildly terrifying but ver fascinating (don’t worry, you can get as close as you’re comfortable with) Would very much recommend!
  • 5/5 from Hente Sodderland, attended Sep 2024: Fantastic experience! Totally fascinating! Thank you so much for the insight into the magical world of bees
  • 3/5 from Eva, attended Sep 2024: The farm itself is great and being around the bees, was wonderful. Meetal took apart the beehive and passed a frame around which was an incredible experience seeing the bees in action. Unfortunately the hands-on experience was cut short due to a drizzle of rain. While it was nice outside for the first hour, we spent over half of the experience in a tiny room going through a presentation. The pictures show people making a frame, this was not part of the course. Meetal was very knowledgeable and answered every question.
  • 5/5 from Sandra Rubio Tardon, attended Jul 2024: The experience was amazing, and the teacher brilliant! I learnt a lot about bees and beekeeping, enjoyed wearing the protective suit and exploring the hive. So much fun! Definitely worth It!
  • 5/5 from Malcolm Smyth, attended Jul 2024: I recently attended the Bee Keeping course. It was really enjoyable, I learnt lots about Bees I didn’t know, but best of all was looking inside a working hive, that was amazing. The tutor was very good at explaining things and very helpful when we went to the hive.
  • 5/5 from Katy Anderson, attended Jul 2024: Absolutely loved it and would recommend to anyone who'd like to anyone who'd like to learn about bees and beekeeping.
  • 5/5 from Katie Parsons, attended Jul 2024: Can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning in London. Stepney City Farm is a wonderful space anyway, and then throw in an eye-opening introduction to bees and bee-keeping, and some time hanging out with a hive of very busy bees making wax and honey, and you have a happy combination. I expected to find the hive bit stressful, but the protective suit felt secure. Meetal is clearly very knowledgable and experienced, and set a calm example with the bees. Really recommend. Great cafe at SCF too!
  • 5/5 from Debra Pring, attended Jun 2024: My son bought this for me for my birthday and WOW! This class was—genuinely—amazing. The first part with the theory made the experience with the hive so much more interesting because we could understand what was happening in the hive. The teacher was fabulous, really engaging. Lots of time handling the bees, which I’d wondered about. But kids if time to see the sections of the hive and what each type of bee does.
  • 5/5 from Marie McGinn, attended Jun 2024: Was brilliant fun, loved it Meetal was so informative and knowledgeable, part of me wants to go again!
  • 5/5 from Matthew Lavender, attended Jun 2024: I came to the experience with my daughter not knowing much about bees but with a general interest in then. The class was excellent. Great informal lesson with plenty of questions answered. The teacher was friendly, approachable and genuinely interested in what he was teaching which always makes a difference I think. Getting up close with the bees in the hive was wonderful. Wearing the protective suit meant there was no worry about being stung and so we could concentrate on learning and watching these fascinating creatures. This was the best bit for me. I could have spent hours there. Then back to the classroom for more teaching and honey tasting. It's amazing the different tastes of the honey from different parts of London. All in all, a great few hours and I'd thoroughly recommend it. Process about right I think. Thanks for a wonderful time.
  • 4/5 from Jonny, attended Jun 2024: Really lovely time in a nice setting, felt like being in the countryside when we were still in London! Learnt a lot about bees thanks to our teacher and great to taste the different honey types, not something I've ever done. With 12 of us in a group it was a bit of a squeeze around the hives but all in all a brilliant experience.
