Beatriz Perea
Heya, I'm Beatriz!
I’m originally from Colorado, but after attending uni in the Northeast, I quickly fell in love with the area and made Newcastle my home.
Before joining ClassBento, I spent many years working in customer service and management roles before moving into education, teaching both early years students and secondary art. Those experiences helped shape my passion for supporting people, building meaningful connections, and encouraging creativity in everyday life.
One of the things I love most about ClassBento is its focus on mental wellbeing and work-life balance. I love being part of a platform that truly believes creative experiences have the power to quiet the mind, bring people together, and help us reconnect with ourselves.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me playing board games, reading books, creating artwork, or photographing interesting people and places.
One of my favourite classes I’ve taken through ClassBento was a Gelli Printing workshop. I absolutely loved the experimentation involved. I’m already eyeing up the glass-making workshops for my next creative adventure!

I have an adorable Aussie Pom who is far too spoiled, and who came across the pond with me too!

About me

  • AA in Art History and Art Education, Aims Community College and University of Northern Colorado
  • I came to the UK originally to study photography, graphic design and animation – I loved it so much, I had to come back!
  • I have a black belt in Kenpo Karate.
  • I taught Visual Arts and Martial Arts for many years – it was absolutely incredible to work with so many amazing students!

Top weekend activities

  • Waking up to no alarm is a big one!
  • Grabbing a chai tea and taking my dog for a long walk.
  • Getting stuck into a good book, or watching a movie or show (I'm a big musical and comedy fan).
  • Top it off with some fun crafts with friends and I'm a happy camper!

Favourite craft

Photography and digital art are always my first choices, but I love anything and everything creative. I recently got to try a glass lampwork class which I really enjoyed, and I've been getting really into intricate macramé bracelets.

3 top tips to recharge and unwind

  • Slow down! Even 10 minutes to just read, create, or simply be present can make a huge difference.
  • Prioritise connection. Quality time with loved ones is one of the best ways to support your mental health.
  • Rest isn't something you have to earn. Give yourself permission to pause, recharge and treat yourself a little!

3 top tips for embracing creativity

  • Focus on the process, not the outcome. Creativity isn't about being perfect – it's about exploring, experimenting, and having fun with the experience. Especially if you're a beginner!
  • Try something new. Stepping outside your comfort zone can spark fresh ideas and build confidence in so many areas of your life.
  • Create for the joy of it: not everything needs a purpose. Sometimes making something simply because it makes you happy is enough!
