Hi, I’m Asha, an artist who loves paper, ink and textured printed paper. Since I was young I have magnetised towards all things stationery and crafts and find myself happiest when writing, drawing or painting.

After working in a heavily digitised world in a creative field it was an awakening moment in 2014 when I discovered calligraphy. The way the nib moved slowly and almost effortlessly across the paper like it was dancing a slow waltz, will forever be in my memories. Babooche Calligraphy was set up in 2017 and soon after I found my perfect studio in central London, UK.

Following my discovery of the art of letterpress and foil printing I purchased my own presses to transform my designs into luxurious paper goods.

Inspired by nature and European heirloom history, I utilise these slow artisan and printing techniques to create art for those that love paper as much as I do.

Bought this as a birthday experience for my 12 year old daughter, and I joined her on the class too. Asha was lovely and the class went at just the right pace for us as beginners. Not too much and not too little. We are very excited to have left the class with some ink and a nib which makes it easy to keep going with what we learned today. The class is great value for money and is worth investing in the face to face time with a teacher rather than trying to learn with an online teacher. Thank you Asha, we had a fab day with you!

I enjoyed the beginner’s calligraphy class conducted by Asha. This was my first time trying this art and Asha made me feel very comfortable and at ease. All materials required for the class were provided by her and it was very well constructed, she provided personal attention to us all ensuring we picked up the lessons quite well. I would definitely recommend beginners to try out this class :)

My daughter is getting married later this year, so I decided to sign up to a beginner's calligraphy class so that I can write place names/invitations etc. I took another daughter along and we had no idea what to expect - we were both complete beginners and neither of us have any artistic skills whatsoever! We were in a small group of six people and were immediately put at our ease by our lovely teacher Asha. She had provided us with all the basic materials we need to get started, all of which we were able to take home with us. Asha is a brilliant teacher and the time flew by. We came away with the basics of this new skill - much practice is needed but Asha has set us on a path to success! It is definitely good value for money and I can't recommend it highly enough.
