What you'll do

Would you like to spend one evening a week just drawing or painting? Then the City Academy Art Club is a great way to develop your skills in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

You can experiment with a range of different mediums from pencil to acrylic paints. Focus on one specific medium over several weeks, or try something new each session.

Our Art Club is aimed at those who have done a little drawing already and want to refresh their technique. The studio is well-equipped, and experienced art tutors will be on hand to help with ideas and guidance on materials. Bring your objects to draw or choose items from our props cupboard to make your own still life set-ups. There will be opportunities for life and portrait drawing.

Don’t worry if you miss a week, as you haven't missed a vital part of the course. Art Club lets you explore and develop at your own pace.

During our Art Club sessions, you will:

Paint or draw in any medium: pencil, graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolour or acrylic
Develop your own compositions, or work with suggestions from your tutor
Special sessions covering Life Drawing, Portrait Drawing, Still Life
Tailored support and feedback on your work from your tutor
The chance to socialise and learn from your fellow participants

Like all of our art and drawing classes, you will receive friendly feedback from your tutor throughout the course.

A good range of materials will be available free of charge. You choose your medium – you can work in pencil, charcoal, graphite, pastels, watercolour or acrylic paint. We provide easels, drawing boards and paper for all mediums including acrylics. However, you may wish to bring your own canvas art board or canvases.
