3 x 2 hours Class size 1 to 5 (public classes), 1 to 20 label £180

Whether you're a keen photographer and want to expand your skillset or you're a complete novice looking for fun things to do in London, this photography course will show off some of the more unusual processes in the world of photography.

During this three-week course, you will be introduced to the dark room, how to handle and prepare chemicals and the magic of light-sensitive paper. You'll learn historical photographic techniques as well as contemporary approaches to a traditional medium. Everything you make during this course is yours to keep, so you'll end up with a whole portfolio of new work that you have made during this course.

Week one -- cyanotypes or image transfer (depending on weather).
You will learn how to prepare and create a range of artwork using the traditional method of cyanotype printing. You will learn the simple chemistry behind preparing paper for cyanotype printing as well as historical and contemporary use of the process.

With images created on the course, you will get the opportunity to transfer these from just average printer paper onto a variety of different media, from cardboard to coloured paper to fabrics. It's a great way to elevate your image and bring a beautiful textural aspect to your work.

Week two -- painting with light.
You'll get a crash course in the exposure triangle and learn how to master the art of shutter speed in order to paint light into a series of images. Working collaboratively with the team, you will be able to achieve some beautiful portraits in just 2 hours.

Week three -- make your own pinhole camera. (Bring your own tin with a lid).
Transform an everyday tin into your very own pinhole camera. You will be walked through the process of how to successfully make your own camera, then developing your photos using dark room chemistry.
