Abiola Onabule leads this London-based interactive workshop introducing participants to ancient indigo dyeing techniques used to create Adire, a ‘dye-resist’, patterned cloth typically made by Yoruba dyers in South-Western Nigeria.
Abiola Onabule, who gained a fashion education at Central Saint Martins, has previously led Indigo Adire workshops for the V&A, for a variety of programmes including London Craft week, Africa Fashion season and the Upstart careers festival. In addition to the V&A, Onabule has led Adire workshops for the Design Museum, Indigo Garden London, the Commonwealth Secretariat and National Maritime Musuem, amongst others. Onabule has also delivered talks on the topic of design, indigo and Adire, at Cornell University, the Design Museum, Chelsea College of Art and the V&A, amongst other institutions.’
