Slow down and explore a centuries-old art in a casual, calming way with this painting class, designed for leisure art lovers of all ages and experience levels. You will explore classic themes from traditional Chinese painting and learn how to use the authentic medium of Chinese brush painting - brushes, ink, and colour - to create artwork to take home. No prior experience is needed.
This is a casual painting club rather than a structured course, so you can feel at ease while exploring your creativity and skills. Light guidance, inspiration, and support will be provided throughout, making this a welcoming activity for beginners as well as those with more experience. It is more about leisurely exchange, a chance to chat about wellbeing, and an opportunity to come together for a peaceful appreciation of a unique Chinese craft.
//This experience is best enjoyed with a friend! Why don't you take someone along? Someone's birthday coming up? Also a great way to gift your loved ones!//
During the workshop, you will work with:
  • Chinese painting brushes
  • Ink
  • Authentic mineral pigment colour
  • Classic themes from traditional Chinese painting
* All materials are provided. Attendees will also receive a 10% discount in-store on the day of the class.

Hi, I'm Jasmine, a Hong Kong-born artist and architect, and the founder of BrushBonheur 樂墨, meaning "the joy of ink."
I first picked up a Chinese brush as a child in Hong Kong, and it has been my quiet companion ever since: through architecture, design, and paintings and writing featured in published journals and exhibitions back home. My architect's eye shapes how I teach: composition, space, and the blend between structure and creative flow.
In my classes you'll discover the unique dance of ink, water and rice paper, and explore both styles of Chinese painting: fine, detailed gongbi (工筆) and free, expressive xieyi (寫意). We paint flowers, birds and seasonal subjects step by step, but there's no single "right" way. Be bold, enjoy the flow, and let a "mistake" become a petal.
Trained in workshop facilitation and Mental Health First Aid, I keep every session relaxed, friendly and welcoming. My approach often combines easy-to-understand structure and creative exploration, adapted to suit each student's skills and pace. Complete beginners, adults and young people are all welcome (enhanced DBS checked).
