Roll up those sleeves and prepare to get messy! If you've ever fancied exploring the art of wheel throwing, this six-week course with Clover from the Great Pottery Throwdown will teach you everything you need to know.
In a spacious pottery studio in the heart of London, you'll be able to relax and immerse yourself in all things wheel throwing. Clover will gently guide you through the whole pottery wheel process; from throwing the clay to trimming and finally decorating your handmade ceramic pieces. Suitable for beginners, this course is aimed at both pottery pros and complete novices, so you'll be in good hands!
Class sizes are limited to four people, so you're guaranteed a pottery wheel to use in each session with no sharing necessary – which means you'll have plenty of time to polish up those new ceramic skills! The fee includes all the tools needed, 12kg of clay, the use of a wheel and firing of all pieces made, while an extra 6kg of clay can be purchased for an additional £35.
This six-week course aims to shorten waiting time for the longer ten-week course. It has no priority booking for existing students, which means anyone can book without having to join a waiting list.
Please note:
  • The winter term will have a break on 29th October, so the last course session will be 3rd December.
  • It is essential to attend the first three sessions if you have no pottery experience, as the basic techniques will be introduced. Missing a workshop will result in not being able to catch up.

I was born and raised in Guangdong, China. I found my passion in art during my youth and started practising pottery making in London since 2011.
After watching the first series of The Great Pottery Throw Down TV show, I was inspired to become a craft potter, and I participated in the second series of the show, where I finished as a finalist.
My works are largely influenced by traditional Chinese and Japanese culture, inspired by the interaction of nature and human to promote flow of energy and harmony. My recent works are mostly functional items with a combination of wheel throwing and hand building techniques. I am particularly interested in alternative firing methods such as Raku and pit-firing. I regularly exhibit and sell my works in various conventions nationwide.
