Picture this: I'm knee-deep in writing my master's thesis when a bowl crashes to the floor, seemingly of its own free will. Rather than tossing it aside, I felt an urge to repair it — a simple decision that would change the course of my career. Little did I know that this seemingly small craft project would ignite a lifelong passion for the art of kintsugi.

Teaching myself the intricacies of this Japanese practice became an obsession. I was drawn not just to the physical act of mending but also to the philosophy behind it — the idea that we can honor the cracks and breaks of an object and ourselves without erasing the history that put them there.

After my first successful repair, I found myself daydreaming about improving upon each subsequent piece, scouring charity shops for chipped ceramics to rescue and restore. My obsession eventually filled my room with beautifully revitalized treasures in need of new homes. It was during this journey that Precious Scars Studio was born. Over the past six years, I've been wholeheartedly immersed in the art of kintsugi, continuously refining my skills. Additionally, for a year and a half I taught kintsugi under another artist, cultivating an average 5-star rating for over 400 guests. In late 2023, I decided to start a new venture, under my own name, focusing on repairs using precious metals and delving deep into the historical intricacies of the beautiful art form.

Teaching kintsugi was something of an accident, but it turned out to be a delightful one. Sharing this craft with others, I discovered the joy of guiding them through their own creative journeys. What I hope people take away from my course is not just a beautifully repaired piece of art, but also the profound sense of pride that comes from knowing they did it with their own hands. Beyond that, I hope they leave with positive memories of learning this craft in the company of kindred spirits. Because kintsugi, to me, is not just about fixing ceramics — it's about embracing the beauty of resilience and cherishing the imperfections that make life, and art, truly extraordinary.
