When I started my business, Peace of Cake London, I never imagined that sugarcraft would become one of my greatest passions. In fact, I discovered it almost by accident. I needed to decorate cakes for my growing cake business and quickly realised I had a natural talent for sugarcraft, particularly creating realistic sugar flowers. What began as a practical necessity soon became a creative obsession, and I've now been developing my skills for over 10 years.
My journey into baking was inspired by a personal challenge. After being diagnosed with Coeliac disease later in life, I struggled to find beautiful, high-quality cakes and bakes that felt truly special. Determined to change that, I left my career as a Finance Manager at John Lewis and founded Peace of Cake London, combining my love of creativity with a mission to make exceptional cakes accessible to those with dietary requirements.
Over the years, I've been fortunate to work with an incredible range of clients. My cakes have been created for celebrities including film actors and actresses, rock bands, and pop stars, and have even appeared on television, including Channel 4. My bakes have been stocked in the Food Hall at Selfridges on Oxford Street, and I've supplied prestigious hotels including The Connaught, The Savoy, Carlton Jumeirah, The Ampersand and many others.
Along the way, my work has been recognised with awards including Free From Awards and Great Taste Awards. I've also worked with the Food Standards Agency and achieved accreditation from Coeliac UK, reflecting my commitment to quality, safety and excellence.
Teaching is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I've taught private students, small group workshops and live online demonstrations, and nothing compares to seeing someone's face light up when they create something beautiful that they never thought possible. Sugarcraft can seem intimidating at first, but I love helping people discover that with the right guidance, patience and techniques, they can create stunning work they're genuinely proud of.
One thing many people don't realise about sugar flowers is that they combine art, science and patience in equal measure. Every petal, leaf and bloom tells a story, and I still find it as fascinating today as I did when I first started. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, I'm passionate about sharing the techniques, tips and confidence I've gained through a decade of professional cake decorating.
I look forward to helping you discover the joy of sugarcraft and creating something truly beautiful together.
