5 hours Class size 1 on 1       £150 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Warp-making can initially seem complex, but you will be guided carefully through each stage of the process. The session offers a supportive and enjoyable introduction to choosing yarns, developing a design, measuring the warp and preparing it for the loom.
Subject to loom availability, you may have the opportunity to begin weaving with your finished warp on one of the studio’s looms. Weaving time is not included in the workshop price and will be charged separately at the studio’s usual hourly rate. Any arrangement for leaving your warp or unfinished work on a studio loom is made solely at the studio’s discretion and must be agreed in advance.
This workshop is intended solely for individual weavers developing their personal practice. It does not provide institutional, commercial, technician or train-the-trainer instruction. Demonstrations and teaching may not be filmed, reproduced or shared without prior written permission from Freeweaver Studio.

Freeweaver Studio is a dedicated handweaving studio in Maritime Greenwich, founded by textile artist and weaver Erna Janine. Since 2017, we have introduced thousands of people to creative weaving through an intuitive approach developed from Japanese floor-loom practice.
Our Japanese floor looms are remarkably accessible for complete beginners, while offering experienced weavers the freedom to develop sophisticated and experimental work. Each loom is prepared and ready to weave, allowing newcomers to begin making cloth almost immediately, while more advanced weavers can explore colour, texture, structure and materials in greater depth.
