Wheel Throwing and Pottery Painting Challenge

Experience a joyful pottery class in Pontefract with a taster course on the wheel and painting your pot.

2 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests       £55 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join our 1 hour pottery and 1 hour painting workshop and experience the fun of both throwing on the wheel and painting your own ceramic piece. We have 5 wheels, so you will be in a small group of up to 5 guests.
The workshop is split into two exciting parts. You will spend the first hour on the wheel with Rachel. To help you get started straight away, your clay has been pre-centred. Rachel will then be by your side to help you shape the clay into a bowl, vase, plant pot, or a cosy hug mug.
After your hour in the wheel room, you'll move into the painting room with Cath. For the next hour, Cath will guide you on how to decorate your pot. We have a choice of 20 coloured underglazes and lots of tools to help, including 150 sponges in shapes like flowers, leaves, animals, and insects. You can also freehand a design – just bring one with you. While you paint, Cath will make you a tea or coffee with a cookie.
Once your class is finished, we will take care of the rest. Your pot will be fired to bisque, before we dip it in a clear shiny glaze and re-fire it to be ready to use. You’ll leave the session having enjoyed a wonderfully creative time, ready to collect your finished, functional piece 4 weeks later.
Please note:
  • This workshop is for adults or children aged 12 or above.
  • Collection is 4 weeks after the workshop.
  • Alternatively, we can ship your pot to you for £12.
