Join us for an immersive three-day workshop in our Birmingham-based studio, where you will how to make a hollow wax sculpture from your mould and how to ceramic shell it ready for bronze casting! This workshop is part 3 of a 4-part series, guiding you step-by-step from sculpting to the final polishing of your bronze cast piece.

Workshop Overview:
Over these three consecutive days, you will gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in the lost wax process. Here’s what you can expect:
Day 1: Creating Your Hollow Wax Sculpture
Kick off the workshop by learning how to produce a hollow wax version of your sculpture from your rubber silicone mould. You’ll also delve into the art of making modelling wax and become familiar with essential wax working tools. By the end of Day 1, you’ll have a beautifully crafted wax piece, ready for the next stages.
Day 2: Preparing for Investment
On the second day, focus on preparing your wax sculpture for investment. You’ll learn how to correctly attach a running and rising system using cups and wax, ensuring your sculpture is set up for a successful pour. This session emphasizes precision and technical skills, crucial for your final piece.
Day 3: Applying Ceramic Shell Investment
Conclude your workshop by mastering the application of ceramic shell investment to your wax sculpture. You’ll understand the principles behind the lost wax method and how to effectively apply the investment, paving the way for the casting process.
