Join this enchanting sensory coffee experience in London.
Step into the world of Ottoman coffee culture through an intimate four-course sensory experience, where coffee, history, ritual and flavour come together.
I — The Bean
Begin with a single-origin Yemeni coffee, delicately brewed using the Origami pour-over method. Discover the early relationship between Yemeni coffee and the Ottoman Empire.
Paired with: traditional sugar covered almonds.
II — The Sultan's Coffee Table
Enter the world of Ottoman coffee ritual, where preparing and serving coffee became an elegant expression of hospitality and refinement. Experience finely ground single-origin coffee, prepared in the cezve and presented with ÅŸerbet (sweet palace beverage) and Turkish delight, following the traditions of the Ottoman coffee table.
Discover the ceremony behind the cup — from the rituals of welcoming and preparing the guest to the carefully considered presentation of coffee.
Paired with: ÅŸerbet and Turkish delight
III — Helvahane
Leave the coffee bean behind and discover menengiç, a caffeine-free Turkish coffee alternative made from roasted wild pistachio. Inspired by the rich world of the Ottoman palace kitchens and the Helvahane (palace kitchen).
Paired with: a pistachio paste confection.
IV — The Sultan's Garden
End your journey in the palace garden with a refreshing iced Origami pour-over, delicately infused with rose water. Explore the enduring cultural and spiritual significance of the rose in Ottoman life.
Paired with: rose-petal Turkish delight.
This class is a sensory session. You can sip, savour, and share your impressions in a relaxed and enchanting atmosphere.
Notes:
Please note: Nuts, pistachios and sesame feature in this experience and are handled as part of the preparation and service. Due to the nature of the tasting and the possibility of cross-contact, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate guests with severe nut or seed allergies. If you have any food allergy or dietary requirement, please contact us before booking so we can discuss whether the experience is suitable for you.
Turkish coffee is traditionally served very hot, and the cup may retain heat for several minutes.
Please handle your cup with care and avoid drinking immediately after it is served.
This is not a conventional coffee-making class. It is a guided sensory and cultural tasting experience.
Coffees will be brewed at the table by the host.
No previous coffee knowledge is required.
Come curious. Sit at the table. Follow the journey.
*Sessions may be photographed or filmed for archival and promotional purposes. Please inform in advance if you prefer not to appear.
*By enrolling in the workshop, students acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of the aforementioned terms and conditions.
