Join this full-day tufting workshop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter and spend the day getting creative as you learn how to make your very own statement rug! This immersive 8-hour activity is a fantastic opportunity to discover the art of tufting, and can be completed in one day, or split into two sessions! If you choose to split your time, please book your return visit within two weeks of your original date.
In your Super Tufting Workshop, you'll learn how to use a tufting gun to bring your chosen design to life. Even if you have no prior experience, there's no need to worry! You'll receive step-by-step guidance in a relaxed and friendly studio setting, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported throughout the workshop.
Your 8-hour session includes:
  • Detailed guidance on rug-making techniques, hands-on practise, and operating the tufting machine
  • A selection of over 90 yarn colours to choose from
  • Finishing touches with trimming and shaving to perfect your creation
For this Super Tufting Workshop, your frame will accommodate an 85 x 85cm design. It's recommended to keep your design simple for the best results; bold shapes and using between three to six colours usually work wonderfully.
By the end of this workshop, you will have gained new skills and a unique, handcrafted rug to take home, offering an inspiring way to express your style.
Please provide your designs at least 48 hours before the start of your session.

Location

The Argent Centre - 60 Frederick Street, Birmingham B1 3HS

You can catch a train to the Jewellery Quarter station, hop on the tram to St Paul’s Square or take a 20 minute walk from Birmingham’s city centre. For those driving, we recommend parking at Ramgarhia Sikh Temple on 51 Graham Street and we're a 1 minute walk to the studio, or, the Jewellery Quarter multi-storey car park, B18 6LP and a 6 minute walk. Please double-check parking charges before leaving the car park! There's also plenty of street parking available for a fee.

Anna was absolutely amazing, she was accommodation to my needs and even though I’m autistic she didn’t treat me like I had a disability she was encouraging and constantly motivating.this ensured I had the best support and outcome for my rug in a caring atmosphere. She is very warm and supportive to each individual that is in the class.Classes are relitively small ensuring personalised tuition and even thought it’s a class setting it almost felt like it was still a 1-1. she has a bright and friendly demeanour, always smiling and making sure everyone is happy and able to understand the process and minimise tearing of fabric and avert mistakes. she teaches at a steady but good pace allowing the time to be enough to create our masterpieces, I will absoloutely be coming back and my dad loved his rug I made!, it was exactly how it says online, personal friendly clean and professional, I also had time at the end to discuss a possible future of higher level learning with her and even 1-1 time to accommodate developmental skills to take my tufting to the next level. I was also grateful to find out she sells high end materials and equipment, the level of which we used during this course.

I sent my design over earlier so the canvas was ready on arrival. She explained how to transfer the design, went through all the equipment and explained the yarn, the tufting techniques and tips including doing the back and finishing it. It was hard work for a 67 year old but I was just thrilled with my finished rug.
