Behind every colourful, slightly wacky idea at Sunnyjolly Designs… there’s me!

Hi! I’m Helen – the owner and artist behind Sunnyjolly Designs.

I’ve loved art for as long as I can remember. As a child I was always creating – painting, papier-mâché, upcycling plant pots and anything else I could get my hands on. My parents were caretakers at a primary school and let me loose painting huge murals for Christmas backdrops, cupboards and even an entire classroom full of fun designs.

I was also lucky to be taught by Yorkshire artist Eric Humphry, who entered one of my paintings into a competition judged by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. I received a “Highly Commended” award – something I’ll always be proud of.

I went on to study at Leeds College of Art and Design, exploring everything from sculpture and clay to fashion and painting, and later studied Textile and Surface Pattern Design at Bretton Hall.

My hope is that Sunnyjolly Designs brings happiness, creativity, community spirit and lots of smiles.
