Design and make your own stained glass masterpiece in this full-day workshop at my studio in The Vale, Chesham. Choose whether you'd like to create a framed mosaic picture or a hanging glass suncatcher – whatever calls to you – and leave with a beautiful handmade piece that catches light and memory in equal measure.
Your teacher will introduce you to the art of stained glass through hands-on, guided learning. You'll discover how to cut glass into shapes of your choice, arrange and glue pieces into a striking design that's uniquely yours, and finish your work with grout for that polished, professional look. Throughout the day, we'll explore pattern, colour, and shape together, uncovering how light transforms simple glass into something genuinely magical.
You don't need any previous experience – this workshop welcomes first-timers and seasoned makers with equal warmth. Small class sizes mean you'll get plenty of one-to-one guidance, so you're never rushed or lost. Everything you need is provided: full use of the studio's tools and equipment, all your materials, and refreshments to keep you going. At lunch, we'll pop to the friendly local pub where you can grab a sandwich or a hot meal (these are on you, so you can choose what feels right).

Hi, I’m Suzanne Raffellini, a glass artist based in Buckinghamshire. I’ve always loved being creative; ever since I was little, I was drawing, making things, and dreaming about going to art college.
But life had other plans, and I ended up studying Chemistry at university. I went on to do a PhD and worked in scientific research for several years, including a stint in Italy. It was a great experience, but I always felt like something was missing.
Even while working full-time and raising a family, I found ways to be creative; sewing, decorating cakes, getting stuck into DIY projects, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Then one day, I had the opportunity to take a last-minute spot on a stained glass course at my local Adult Education Centre. That one class changed everything; I instantly fell in love with glass and how glass work combined hands-on making with the kind of precision and problem-solving I enjoyed in science.
What started as a fun hobby quickly became a big part of my life. Now, I not only create my own work but also run workshops to help others explore glass art for themselves.
My classes are friendly, relaxed, and open to anyone; whether you’re completely new to glass or looking to try something creative just for you.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, have a look at my upcoming courses; I’d love to see you there.
