Slip and Sgraffito Plate Ceramic Painting Workshop

If you're keen to create some gorgeous ceramics to decorate your home, look no further than this ceramic painting class in Dunham Massey, where you'll learn some traditional techniques to create stunning effects on your finished pieces.

During this one day ceramics masterclass, your experienced pottery tutor will teach you how to create a plate with beautiful surface decoration.

In a studio situated on a working farm in the Cheshire countryside, you will use inspiration from nature and the local surroundings to sketch a simple landscape design. You will then apply layers of different coloured slips to your piece and, by using hand-cut templates, you will learn how to create depth to your work. Once your work is leather-hard, you will be given an overview of the sgraffito method to carve through the slip to produce intricate designs and which will bring a new dimension to your finished piece.

Everything you need to complete this project is included, and your tutor will be on hand throughout the session to keep you on the right track, so you can rest assured that you'll create a gorgeous ceramic plate to cherish forever.

Please note: After the class your beautiful handmade plate will be bisque fired, clear glazed, glost fired. It will be ready to collect within 3 weeks.
