Meet Emma – Silkworm Creative Jewellery
My love of polymer clay started more than 40 years ago, when my Nan bought me my first block of clay at just seven years old. I made a little fox brooch, and she encouraged me to put it in the window of our local post office shop to sell. It was my first taste of creativity, making and entrepreneurship – and I’ve never really stopped!
Fast forward to 2020 and, after a particularly stressful job, I ordered some polymer clay to help me switch off. I quickly rediscovered just how much I loved making things. What started with beads evolved into Silkworm Creative Jewellery and, before long, colourful, contemporary handmade earrings became my speciality.
Since then, I’ve taken Silkworm Creative to craft fairs, built my own online business and, most importantly, discovered a real passion for sharing the creative process with other people.
My first workshop was a charity event where we made more than 56 pairs of earrings – and I was completely hooked! Since then, I’ve run workshops for groups of all abilities, from people who have never touched polymer clay before to enthusiastic crafters looking to try something new.
My workshops are relaxed, friendly and hands-on, but you’ll also be learning from someone who genuinely knows the craft. I’ll show you the techniques, share plenty of tips and help you create jewellery you’ll actually be proud to wear.
You don’t need to be ‘arty’ or have any previous experience – just come along, get creative and enjoy making something completely your own.
My upmost favourite moment is when I hear someone say:
“I can’t believe I’ve made that on this workshop!”
And they wear the earrings before even leaving the session – perfect.
I’m passionate about encouraging people to step away from the everyday, try something new and discover just how satisfying it is to make something with your own hands.
Come and make, create and have fun with Silkworm Creative. I can’t wait to see what you make!
