Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Threasa Smith, attended Jul 2026: I had a 1-2-1 sewing class with Shannon. She explained how to set up my sewing machine. Load needle thread, load a bobbin and to sew a button hole. It was at my pace, I could take notes and nothing was too much trouble to go over a second time. Shannon explains things very clearly.
  • 5/5 from Lucy Cotton, attended Jun 2026: Shannon was great at explaining the machines functions, giving practical advice on how to use it and encouragement I needed it. No sales pressure just helpful info.
  • 5/5 from Miss Clare L Matthews, attended Feb 2026: A really excellent introduction to sewing machines. The lady ensured that the advice was directly related to my machine at home and clearly demonstrated each step in how to set up the machine. I left feeling much more confident. Thank you.

  • 4/5 from Katherine Jones, attended Jan 2026: My teacher was lovely & helpful. I wanted to learn to use & fully understand the new sewing machine I had bought. The only disappointing thing was that the store didn't have the same model to use. However, my teacher took me over to one on display & explained any differences. My teacher was very encouraging & boosted my confidence.
  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Oct 2025: I did a sewing workshop for beginners. Shannon was very good and covered all the areas I had wanted to know about. My only negative was that although I turned up on time nothing was ready for the lesson and I had to help Shannon move the desk to get to a socket. She did apologise and advised there had been an incident at the store. Given this I would certainly try another workshop.

  • 5/5 from Michelle Marshall, attended Feb 2025: My teacher Abby was incredibly knowledgable and friendly! As someone with no prior sewing machine knowledge, I walked in with many concerns and questions. I brought in a piece that I was having trouble with and Abby talked through not only the basics for sewing, but also explained the likely issue with my piece, how to fix it, and how to troubleshoot other problems as well. It had been months since I worked on my sewing but Abby has given me the tools and confidence to try again. Can’t recommend enough
