Professional Accessory Pattern Making Course

This pattern-making course teaches the fundamentals of creating patterns for bags and accessories, distinct from clothing.Over four consecutive classes, you will develop key skills for expanding industry knowledge or starting your projects. You’ll learn pattern-making terminology, how to cut and prepare materials, and how to develop patterns based on shape and finishing techniques. You will also create glued prototypes using reinforcement materials to verify the accuracy of the patterns you have drafted.The course covers simple gusset patterns, linings, seam allowances, cutting margins, and details like zippers, tabs, and straps. You will gain insights into related techniques such as marking, cutting, gluing, and reinforcing, along with an overview of leathers, vegan alternatives, reinforcements, and hardware.By the end, you will have a set of patterns, simple prototypes, and a curated list of leather suppliers and tools, plus handouts for ongoing reference.Summary of topics covered in the class:
