Private Pottery Throwing Class: Improver Session

Master the wheel at your own pace with private, expert-led pottery lessons.

2 hours Class size 1 on 1       £55 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Master the potter's wheel in this immersive 1-on-1 session at our cosy London studio, situated just a short stroll from Nine Elms, Stockwell, and Vauxhall stations. Whatever you're working towards – whether that's nailing your centring, throwing taller cylinder walls, perfecting your trimming, or conquering a specific shape like bowls, mugs, or bottles – your expert ceramicist will give you 100% undivided attention to help you break through any roadblocks holding you back.
Over two focused hours, you'll dive straight into hands-on wheel work in a space designed entirely around your goals and skill level. You'll review core fundamentals at your own pace, troubleshoot your technique with expert guidance, and work directly on the shapes you want to master.
Once you're finished, we'll carefully dry your pieces, guide you through trimming (or handle it ourselves), glaze them, and fire everything in our studio kiln. In a few weeks, you'll collect finished pieces that are ready for real life – food-safe, microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe – functional art you'll actually use and treasure for years to come. That's the magic of making something with your own hands: it becomes part of your everyday story.
What you'll get
  • Full, private access to your own pottery wheel for the 2-hour session.
  • All clay, tools, glazes, and professional kiln firings are included.
  • 1 to 2 beautifully finished ceramic pieces to take home.
Knowledge required
This 1-on-1 session is perfect for improvers and intermediate throwers looking to level up their technique, or beginners wanting a completely personalized introduction to the wheel.
What to bring
  • Please wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting muddy and comfortable, flat shoes.
  • Important: We highly recommend trimming your fingernails before the class, as long nails make centring and throwing on the wheel quite tricky!
  • Bring an old towel for your lap.

My name is Victoria, and I’m the founder of The Pottery Pop Up. I started this journey because I saw a spark in people who loved the idea of pottery painting but felt held back by the costs and complexity of setting up their own studio. I wanted to change that by bringing the creative process directly to you, whether at your office, home, or special event.
At The Pottery Pop Up, we provide everything you need, from high-quality pottery pieces to all the painting supplies and expert guidance. Our goal is to create a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere where you can unwind, explore your creativity, and leave with a handmade keepsake that tells your unique story.
I believe that art has the power to connect us, boost our wellbeing, and make every occasion a little more memorable. Join me, and let’s make something beautiful together.
