Private In-Home Wheel-Throwing Improvers Class

Level up your throwing with tailored, private coaching at home.

2 hours Class size 1 on 1       £145 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Ready to build your confidence on the pottery wheel and start creating pieces you'll actually love using? This tailored, home-based workshop is perfect if you know the absolute basics of throwing but still feel like a beginner – if wobbly walls are your current reality and you're dreaming of consistently refined pieces, we'll help you get there.
Learning at home is where the real magic happens. Unlike a busy studio where you might feel rushed or watched, practising in your own space means you can relax completely and focus on what matters – your progress. Because it's just you and your teacher, there's no studio intimidation or pressure. We'll dedicate 100% of the session to your personal clay goals, answer every question you have, and work entirely at your own pace.
The best part? This workshop is shaped around exactly what you want to work on. We can strip things back to troubleshoot the tricky basics – nailing your centring, pulling thinner and taller walls, getting your hands to work together. Or we can practise refining shapes you've struggled with, like turning heavy bowls into elegant forms or crafting smooth, flat dishes. If you're excited to try something completely new, we can skip the standard cylinders entirely and dive straight into fun, functional projects – lovely jugs with shaped spouts, unusual mug shapes, wide pasta bowls for your dinner table, cute lidded jars, handy lemon squeezers, clever spoon rests for the kitchen. Whatever you want to make, we'll make it happen.
Bring your basic skills, your pottery questions, and a willingness to try something new. By the end of the session, you'll have practised multiple forms and walked away with beautiful, finished pieces you'll genuinely love using every day.
Please note:
  • This is a mobile studio experience, so we bring the pottery wheel and equipment to your home. Our pricing is fully inclusive of studio setup, equipment transport and the dual-firing process for your finished ceramics within 15 miles of Wallington. For custom distances, click 'Request' for a tailored private quote.
  • You'll practise creating many forms during the session – the price includes firing two pieces. Additional pieces can be fired for £5 each.
  • As this is a mobile workshop, you'll need a suitable space – enough room to sit comfortably and work at the wheel, plus space for the teacher to demonstrate. A small dining table setup is ideal.
  • The teacher will arrive in good time and be ready to start promptly. Please ensure the venue is accessible and the space is clear at least 20 minutes before the workshop begins, ready for set-up.
  • Clay can get messy, so hard flooring is recommended. If your space has carpet or other flooring that could be damaged, please make sure it's protected before the workshop starts.
What you'll get
  • All equipment and materials are provided – just show up ready to create.
  • After the workshop, your pottery will be fired twice: first to harden it, then glazed and fired again to finish. Allow up to 4 weeks for your pieces to be ready.
  • Collection and delivery: You'll be notified when your pieces are ready. Collect from our designated point at no extra charge, or we can post them to you via tracked mail for an additional delivery fee.
  • A note about ceramics: Your pieces are made from natural materials, and the firing process can be unpredictable. Pieces may occasionally crack, warp, or show colour variations from the samples. Pieces unsuitable for food use due to construction issues aren't eligible for refund. If your piece is damaged during firing or transport, a £5 refund per piece will be offered. The class fee itself is non-refundable.

I’m a potter, artist and teacher with a real passion for sharing the joy of pottery with others.
My love of pottery grew from a fascination with making things by hand. I love the combination of creativity and technical skill it requires — there is always something new to learn, experiment with and improve.
I’ve been teaching for 14 years, working with hundreds of students of all ages and abilities. From complete beginners taking their first creative steps to more experienced students developing their skills, I love helping people grow in confidence. I’m especially proud that some of my students have gone on to pursue careers in the creative industries.
For me, teaching is about much more than showing someone how to make a pot. I love creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable having a go, making mistakes and discovering what they can do. I especially enjoy helping people find their “inner artist” — even those who arrive convinced they aren’t creative!
I bring both my teaching experience and technical knowledge of ceramics to every workshop, explaining the why as well as the how. Whether you’re learning to centre and throw on the wheel, exploring hand-building techniques or experimenting with decoration, I’ll help you develop your skills while having fun along the way.
You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or have any previous experience. Come along, get your hands muddy, have a go and see what you can create!
