I’ve made pottery all my life, coming from a brick-making village near Manchester. My studio is now in a spacious 17th-century barn in the beautifully wild Peak District.
I love teaching at all skill levels; between 2022 and 2024, I was an AA2A artist in residence at UCLan Ceramics department working with MA students. I'm a selected member of the Craft Potters Association and one of their mentors. In 2019, I was awarded an artist development grant by Arts Council England. This allowed me to rebuild my wood kiln and make the studio more accessible to the public for workshops. As a result, I’ve welcomed over 1, 000 new potters into the studio.
I'm featured in the book Contemporary British Studio Pottery by Ashley Thorpe: Crowood Press 2023. My work is exhibited and collected worldwide.
I’m also a filmmaker, working with arts and public-sector clients including the BFI, Royal Academy, Barbican, UCL, Bartlett School, Architectural Association, Dis/Ordinary Architecture Project - an organisation that works with disabled artists in architectural and design education settings – and Macmillan Cancer Support.
