How can we help?
Q: Is this workshop suitable for beginners?
Yes. No previous printmaking experience is needed. You will be guided through the full process step by step.
Q: What will I make and take home?
You will make one drypoint plate and print two original mini-prints to take home.
Q: What materials are included?
All materials are provided, including tools, ink, plate and Fabriano paper.
Q: Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing is required. You are welcome to bring a simple image or small sketch if you already have one, but a selection of ready-to-use images will also be available if you would prefer to begin from an existing design.
Q: Is this lino printing?
No. This workshop uses drypoint on recycled Tetrapak rather than lino, and the image is printed through a pasta maker press
Q: How long is the workshop?
The session lasts 2 hours. This allows enough time to go through the full process at a calm pace and leave with two mini-prints.
Q: Is the workshop suitable for children?
This workshop is currently designed for adults and older teenagers. If you’re interested in a child-friendly version, please get in touch before booking.
Q: Will food or drink be provided?
No. Food and drink are not provided as part of this workshop.
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: Free to cancel or reschedule up until 7 days before the class
Q: How long does the class run for, and what's the price?
A: 2 hours, £25 - £35 per guest (£35 per guest when you book for 1 guest, £25/guest for 2+ guests)

Work in a Small Studio Setting
You will make your prints in a small studio workshop at Islington Mill, designed for up to four people, with close guidance throughout.
Everything Is Prepared for You
Tools, ink, paper and plates are all set up before you arrive, so the session is about making rather than preparing.
Scratch Your Drawing Into the Plate
You will transfer your image onto a small Tetrapak plate and scratch the surface by hand using drypoint tools, line by line.
Ink and Wipe Your Plate
You will ink your plate by hand and wipe it back to reveal the drawing. With a bit of patience the marks will start to come back.
Print with a Pasta Maker Press
You will print your plate through a pasta maker press and reveal your image on paper. This unusual final stage is what gives the workshop its character, turning a familiar tabletop object into a real printmaking press.
Leave with Two Original Prints
You will take home two original mini-prints made from your own plate, signed and stored in a protective folder with acid-free sleeves.
