What you'll do

If you're looking for a fun new hobby to share with a friend or partner or are keen to learn how to make pottery in a relaxed, supportive environment, this ceramics class is a brilliant place to start.

Through a combination of detailed demonstrations and practical, hands-on experience, you'll enjoy a guided overview of a variety of different pottery techniques. You'll try your hand at the potter's wheel, you can also try some tactile hand-building techniques to make your own ceramic soap dish.

Thanks to the small class size, you'll have the full support of your talented teacher throughout, making this a fantastic opportunity to learn these time-honoured techniques from someone who really knows their stuff.

By the end of the class, you'll have made a small selection of ceramics, ready to be glazed and fired to be collected later. You'll leave this intimate pottery workshop feeling relaxed and full of crafty new skills.

Please note: you will need to return to pick up your pottery at a later date.

I am an artist and maker working out of my garden workshop, nestled in the South Downs. After completing a master's in fine art at Chelsea College of Art, I turned my hand to clay in a quest to find a new surface to paint and make marks on.

I booked this workshop as a 40th birthday gift for my partner and it was perfect!

Kate is so welcoming, easy to chat with, and a great (very patient) teacher!

I was surprised at how much we learned over the course of the 3 hours. Neither of us had used a pottery wheel before but we left feeling pretty comfortable forming bowls.

We (me and my 19 year old daughter) I had such an enjoyable time with Kate. I can't say that I am a natural born potter but, with Kates patient help and guidance, I managed to knock out producing some respectable pieces of work/art/pottery. My daughter took to it straight away. Really fun and well worth it. We would strongly recommend it. We had a great time and great value.

The session was amazing! Kate was so friendly and welcoming and made the session really fun. We had never done pottery before and were still able to make some things with Kates guidance. I also proposed to my girlfriend (she said yes!) and Kate was amazing, was in on the plan and was so helpful, she even managed to get a video and pictures for us. We had a great 3 hour introduction into pottery with Kate. She was very friendly and welcoming. We had a really enjoyable experience with her and highly recommend this class. We got to practise a lot and she was very patient and explained everything really well.

The workshop itself was very cosy and nice to work in. We are excited to come back for another class with Kate. We had a great time and thank you for such a great introduction into pottery.
