What you'll do
Learn how to make an artisanal notebook, a pocket keepsake for storing your own thoughts or to make as the perfect gift. Learn basic bookbinding skills and gain the confidence to continue making beautifully bound notebooks from home.During this workshop, participants will learn how to make a single-section, full cloth case binding. Using specialist tools, you will learn how to fold and sew paper and create a cloth-covered notebook. This workshop will show how we can recycle off-cut book cloths and papers to make small books.Tutor Details: Amelie is a professional bookbinder based in Crystal Palace. She is a specialist in fine binding, restoration, bespoke box making, and creating artists' books. We can't wait to welcome Amelie to The Hive.All materials are provided, plus refreshments.

Two friends who met at the school gates to their sons's primary school and bonded over inset days and coffee. We open The Hive in July 2024. From different worlds, Felicity has a background in craft and spent the last 17 years designing and developing the Christmas bear for Harrods, Jo has spent her career in hospitality and events, making things happen! We have come together to create a Sanctuary in Sanderstead. We both grew up here in Sanderstead, so know how special this community is. We wanted to open somewhere for people to enjoy, relax and create in an ever busy world. We snapped up the opportunity to open a studio in a converted bus shelter! Join us for one of our many workshops, craft, connect, create.We also like to venture outside our little studio and get on the road! If you have a request for a workshop in a venue of your choosing then please give us a shout. We have facilitated workshops for corporate away days and charity team days and would love to help your team days be a memorable event!
