From classic black and white house numbers to modern and colourful ones, design your front door number sign however you would like at this fun mosaic course in London!

Over the course of two days, you will learn new mosaic making techniques as you create your own handmade door number to be placed outside or inside your home.

With the help of a mosaic expert, you will first create a 20 cm diameter circle mosaic using the direct technique, glueing your mosaic pieces directly into the wooden frame using tweezers and tile adhesive.

A wide range of mosaic materials such as unglazed and glass tiles will be available to your disposition to help your creativity for creating your unique mosaic.

A plywood circle frame will be used as a base for your number and you can varnish it as you please to be outside or inside.

Content workshop:

  • Introduction to the course and the technique.
  • Selection of design font – drawing the number on paper and working on the Andamento, layout, to translate the design into a mosaic.
  • Tracing the design onto the plywood frame.
  • Decide material and colour to use to create your door number.
  • Learning how to cut and shape tiles to create your own mosaic using mosaic tools
  • Start to create your mosaic using the direct method – glueing your tesserae directly onto the wooden support.
  • Complete your mosaic.
  • Grouting and final cleaning.

By the end of the two days, you'll have a whole host of new mosaic skills (enough to kickstart your new hobby!) and your beautiful mosaic house number to take home and hang with pride!
