What you'll do
Join this rucksack sewing course in London and learn how to craft a durable, stylish bag from scratch. Whether you're drawn to the sleek look of a curved zip rucksack or prefer the classic style of a fold-over top, you'll have the chance to create a piece that perfectly fits your aesthetic.Over six weeks, you'll be guided through the making process within a social Sew Your Own Way session. It's a supportive, communal environment where you'll work alongside others on various projects, picking up professional tips and tricks in a low-pressure setting. You'll master the foundational skills needed to construct a complex accessory, gaining the confidence to tackle more ambitious sewing projects in the future.During the course, you will learn:

- How to make items 3D
- How to add essential bag-making notions, including sliders and webbing
- How to work with thick fabrics and leathers
- How to create pockets

Knowledge required
This course is suitable for beginners who who have basic knowledge but want to build new skills.
What to bring
Curved Zip Rucksack We have a selection of suitable fabrics and notions in the studio, including some wax cotton and leathers that you can buy from us.If you want to source your own fabrics for both rucksacks, we recommend getting:- 1 x metre of outer fabric, 150 or 115 wide. We recommend a strong canvas or upholstery-style fabric. You could also use wax cotton or nylon. You want something with a bit of structure.
- 1 x metre of lining - could be thinner fabric, cotton or polyester.
- Leather or Pleather - If you want leather or different fabric accents on the bag, at least 50cm x 50cm for the base/pockets and extra bits if you want it. These could also be made in your outer fabric.
- 3 metres of webbing & 3 matching-sized sliders. For example, if you buy 2.5mm webbing, get 2.5mm sliders. These could be plastic or metal.
- 36cm closed-ended zip
- 20cm zip for pocket if you want a zipped pocket
- 1.5 metres of webbing + 2 matching-sized sliders
- 45 - 60cm zip depending on how deep you want the bag to open
- 20cm zip for pocket if you want a zipped pocket.

Make Mee Studio is run by Tracey & Jaime. We are two enthusiastic life long sewers (both sewing since were 7 & 5 years old!) We love sharing our making skills with others. We have over 10 years of combined teaching experience working with children and adults.We offer sewing lesson, alterations, makes and commissions in our Brockley-based studio and are active in our local community offering workshops to anyone and everyone who will sit down at a sewing machine with us!
