Book a threaded Japanese floor loom and weave independently at London's only dedicated floor loom weaving studio. This isn't a workshop — it's studio time for weavers who've already completed a session with us and want to keep going.
Weave whatever you like: cushions, scarves, table runners, wall hangings, yardage for clothing, art projects — or simply come to enjoy the rhythm of the loom.
Arrive any time after 12pm. The studio closes at 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
How it works
  • Your booking secures a threaded loom plus the first hour of weaving
  • Additional hours are £20 each, payable at the studio after your session
  • Standard black warps available at 30–50cm wide; white and coloured warps subject to availability
  • All yarn from the yarn wall is included — you take home what you make
  • Multi-day projects need to be agreed with us in advance
You're welcome to bring your own yarn, materials and headphones. We will be on hand for technical support, but this is independent weaving time, not guided tuition.
Good to know
You'll need to have completed a workshop at Freeweaver Studio before booking.
The studio is based at Meantime Studios, Greenwich SE10 — a short walk from Maze Hill station or Cutty Sark DLR. We're on the second floor, sadly there's no lift.

Freeweaver Studio is a dedicated handweaving studio in Maritime Greenwich, founded by textile artist and weaver Erna Janine. Since 2017, we have introduced thousands of people to creative weaving through an intuitive approach developed from Japanese floor-loom practice.
Our Japanese floor looms are remarkably accessible for complete beginners, while offering experienced weavers the freedom to develop sophisticated and experimental work. Each loom is prepared and ready to weave, allowing newcomers to begin making cloth almost immediately, while more advanced weavers can explore colour, texture, structure and materials in greater depth.
