Kite Making Workshop

Make a gorgeous kite of your own at this unique workshop in London.

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 3 guests       £50 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join me for a one-on-one kite-making workshop in my artist studio and learn how to build something that truly takes flight. This is your chance to step into a colourful, creative space for a wonderfully mindful activity.
We'll begin by exploring some fascinating kite history – did you know they can be used for fishing, or that traditionally tails need to be 7 times the size of the kite? I'll guide you through every step at your own pace in a relaxed and friendly setting. This workshop is completely beginner-friendly; all you need is a little curiosity.
In this hands-on session, you will:
  • Build your own kite structure using bamboo
  • Choose from a beautiful selection of colourful papers to create your design
  • Craft the perfect tail, whether long and fluttery or short and sweet
This workshop is designed for adults, but it can be a delightful experience for a parent and child to share. If you'd like to bring a child (aged eight or over), please let me know in advance so I can adapt the activity for them.
You’ll walk away from the studio with more than just a one-of-a-kind kite ready for the wind; you’ll take with you the satisfying new knowledge of how to create something beautiful and functional from simple materials.
What you'll get
  • Bamboo (for the frame)
  • Decorative materials (for the kite decoration)
  • All tools needed to build (pen, scissors, glue, string...)
  • Kite handle
  • Hands-on guidance
  • Snacks

I'm Jeanne (she/her) a creative director and artist based in London, with my studio right in central London.
I'm behind SPF50, a project that explores wind, play, and design through the making of handmade kites.
Raised in Marseille, I grew up under the influence of the Mistral,
a powerful regional wind that shaped my early interest in invisible forces and their impact on the world around us.
This fascination, combined with my background in design and interest in nature, play, and technology, led me to develop a practice that moves between sculpture and function.
With SPF50, I uses simple materials and forms to explore how ideas can move across air, through landscapes, and between people.
For me, kites are hybrid objects: part toy, part sculpture, part messenger. They are joyful, slender structures built to withstand one of nature’s strongest forces.
