2 hours Class size 6 to 10     label £34 (£20 per class surcharge applies for private classes)

Create your own miniature plant pots with artist and maker Kim Searle, using a variety of geometric and recycled moulds.

Come and dive into 2017's material of the year, Jesmonite! It's versatile and unique, creating different pots each time. In this class, you will learn how to weigh, mix, and infuse it with your chosen colours and textures.

Jesmonite is your key to endless possibilities. Create pots in pale pastels or vibrant hues, solid block colours, or mesmerizing marbled patterns. You'll also have the chance to work with two types of Jesmonite: one that sets by the end of the class and another that sets overnight and offers a more organic, textured appearance.

To make your miniature pots even more special, your teacher will also provide an array of plant cuttings for you to adorn your creations. These green companions will bring your pots to life.

Please note the venue is committed to sustainability and is right near the train station making transportation very easy. If you prefer to drive, just let your teacher know and they can arrange parking for you.

If you're wanting a workshop I can deliver at your home or venue- Jesmonite is a really messy material and you'll need to have an appropriate space for it.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.

I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!

I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
