Let your creativity flow with this bookbinding class! Using Japanese techniques you will create your very own book bound with stab binding and finished with a handmade marbled cover.

During this class, you'll craft one-of-a-kind swirling patterns using brilliantly coloured marbling inks, working your magic on various papers and cards.

Your friendly teacher will also introduce you to the elegant art of Japanese stab binding techniques. You'll learn how to create books adorned with a variety of decorative stitching, turning them into true works of art.

Please let your teacher know if you require a parking space. The venue encourages sustainability where possible, so if you don't want to drive, a train station is conveniently located right by the workshop space.

Once your workshop is over, you'll proudly walk away with at least one beautifully crafted book plus all the skills you need to make more at home!

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.

I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!

I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
