Create your own punch needle artwork using a wide variety of different colours and textures. Start with a practise with four different types of punch needle tool and 4 different types of fabric. Once you know what works best, you'll move onto a bigger piece with a good knowledge of the technique. If you've caught the bug and can't wait to keep going, there'll be a variety of tools available to buy so you can keep going at home.
This workshop will take place in Butlers at Kirkstall Forge. There's a train station on site, and Kirkstall Forge wants to encourage sustainability, but if you'd like a parking space, let me know, and we can get one arranged. Sadly, the cafe will not be open, but you’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks.
Course conditions:
The workshop needs minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event it doesn't meet this, the workshop will be cancelled. Your booking is secured by payment, and if you choose to cancel, you get a refund up to 7 days before the event; however, after that, no refund can be given. Please don’t arrive more than 10 minutes before the workshop is due to start unless previously arranged.
What you'll get
Punch needle, linen, hessian, and yarn.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.
All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.
I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!
I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
