Over six weekly sessions, you will learn how to translate sewing patterns into finished garments. You will first make a cotton tunic and then choose to make trousers with seam pockets or a tiered skirt.
This course is designed for those with some sewing experience. It will cover measuring, reading patterns, fabric cutting, garment assembly, and finishing techniques in a supportive and creative environment. By the end of the course, you will leave with two handmade pieces and a stronger understanding of the clothes-making process.
You will be provided with a selection of materials to choose from; however, you are welcome to bring your own fabric to make the garments. We recommend that you buy 2 metres by 1.45 metres of plain woven cotton.
Whether you’re sewing for fun, fashion, or future plans, this course will give you the skills to stitch with style! Proceeds support community art projects focused on mental well-being and creative health.
