Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I bought my mom this as part of her Mother’s Day present. The teacher was very welcoming and put us at ease very quickly. The teacher was brilliant, so encouraging and supportive. The wool and crochet hook were perfect and we loved the colours. We were so excited to learn how to crochet we went straight into the shop after to buy some more wool and even a kit. I would defo recommend if you know nothing about crocheting as it was fun and great value.

I booked a space for me & my mum as it was a big birthday year for my mum and we both wanted to learn to crochet. I'm so pleased I did. The teacher was great, her instructions were clear and simple to understand & she was so patient. The kit we received alone was worth the price of the Class. The yarn was incredible quality and beautiful. The Class was so fun and we were all learning together. If your thinking of booking a Class, stop thinking and book it. You won't regret it. The teacher was wonderful and managed to teach me the basics of crotchet even though I was left handed.
The materials provided were of a good quality and I thought that the class was good value for money.
The only negative point was that we were not provided with, or offered, a drink. If Hobbycraft are not providing any refreshment, I feel that that should be highlighted in the class information at the time of booking.

5* A great session. Katrina was enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable and very patient! Katrina was joyful and had a great way of teaching 3 beginners, the wonderful art of learning to crocheting. She managed to support our individual needs as we made progress, which felt both positive and reassuring.

We covered making a slip knot; chain stitch, double crochet stitch.

We were provided with a bag, 2 balls of suitable wool, a crochet needle and explanation leaflet.

The venue was suitable, quiet and comfortable.

The cost was good, reflective of tuition and goods. I paid £22.

My first experience of a Hobbycraft workshop and I thought it was excellent! I went with my Mom as I bought the workshop as a Mother's Day gift and Mom needed a reminder of how to crochet, whereas I started at the beginning. Yvonne pitched the lesson perfectly where she spent time with each of the four of us in the lesson so we all got the best from it. She was so patient too! We received a warm welcome from our Teacher Yvonne, who was friendly and happy to help taking her time to explain and demonstrate how to use the crochet hook and learn the stitches starting with a slip knot, chain stitch, and double crochet, giving individual help to us all when needed. She took me through every stage of making cards and I now feel confident enough to have a go. A Christmas gift from my wife to encourage me to actually use my machine! We both were able to attend with the £5 "bring a friend " option and I was given the opportunity to practice with infusiable inks and the heat press to see if it would be worthwhile with me purchasing one.

My sister and I joined a beginners crochet class in Tamworth. There were about six of us in the class. All tools (hook and wool) were provided. Katrina was a great teacher. Very clear instruction and she demonstrated each step. Because the class was small she was able to help each person and offer tips and guidance. We all left the class with our work and the ability to do some crochet and practice at home. I would definitely recommend a visit. Good value for money and perfect for beginners. Really enjoyed it

My friend and I attended the wooden peg bauble class yesterday, 2nd December (Tamworth). We were warmly welcomed by staff member Yvonne, and offered a seat and a drink. We were surprised to be the only two attendees, so it was nice that the class wasn't cancelled due to low numbers.

Overall, I rate this class 3/5 stars, for which I will explain below.

First and foremost, I give 5 stars for Yvonne, who sat with us and chatted amiably, offering lots of advice on any questions we had (mainly about Cricut machines, which we don't own, but tempted to buy). Yvonne
clearly has a passion for crafting, and is very proud to work for the Hobbycraft company and share her knowledge with customers.

For the actual products used, unfortunately I would only rate 2 stars. We were given two baubles to fill - a round and a star. It was my understanding from the workshop description, that we would have 6 baubles to fill, even if we took them home to complete. The paint supplied was premixed (not decent acrylic) and did not give adequate coverage of the wooden peg, unless using black (two coats) or red (five coats)! The green paint was watery, so I ditched my attempt of painting an elf and literally wiped it off clean with a dry tissue! My friend struggled with her white snowman, to the point she gave up on the paint (which gave no coverage whatsoever) used fake snow, which was more like cotton wool, and glued it on her peg person. The selection of paint brushes were poor, mostly suited for child paints, and half were stiff from glue and unusable. From looking at other people's reviews, other people had options to add letters and Christmas foliage (I understand these were not listed as part of the included pack) but the differences between store workshops is stark.

The class is short at 60 minutes. I do feel 90 minutes would be more beneficial to complete at least one bauble. Unfortunately, due to the poor paint quality, my hour was taken up by applying repeated coats of red paint and waiting for it to dry. I took home two black pegs and one partly covered red, and no completed bauble.

Overall, a bit disappointed with the class, purely due to the quality of the paint, brushes and (possible) extras that other stores have offered. Added to that we didn't take home 4 more baubles to complete, despite having spare pegs to use.

My friend and I enjoyed our hour together with Yvonne, as it was an escape from the frantic Christmas season, but feel that this needs looking into further because it would appear other stores seem to run this class better.

Our workshop leader, Whisky?, had stepped in to cover an ill colleague. All materials were given and we had use of glue guns and wire cutters. I followed the worksheet as far as design was concerned but I’m sure you could arrange materials differently if you wanted. As there were only three of us we were able to get of hands on help.

The room was not a bad size for two people , anymore and it would of been a tight squeeze. The materials for the wreath was great and and varying in lovely autumn colours. We love our wreaths. Thought though, 1 hour was too short a time for the course. Maybe, 1 hour 30 minutes would of been less rushed.

Emma was brilliant, she showed me a step by step guide how to use the Cricut machine and answered any questions I had along the way. Not only did she show me different items I could make she also talked me through every step when I had a go. What a wonderful person Jane was. I am a complete beginner and Jane made me feel at ease and tailored the pace to suit me. She was very knowledgeable. Within the hour, I learned how to set up then use a sewing machine. I was able to practise and get hands on which is how I best learn. I understand What fabrics and threads are best to use, discussed simple patterns to try based on my personal interest.

Hi We used clay to create garden creatures. I made a caterpillar, two bumble bees and a butterfly. I learned how to create marbled clay effects by folding two clay colours together. Assistant was very friendly and happy to help, her demo creatures really helped me to see what the finished item would look like.

This was the second class we did in the holidays and it was brilliant. My 4yo had the best time creating her air dry creatures and they are currently living in a cardboard box insect zoo in the living room. Lisa was very helpful and her instructions were clear and fun. It was quite good value but the setting was very poor the chairs were absolutely disgusting- it really brought down the whole experience this is a customer facing setting that we had paid for - they looked like they had been taken from a dump.

Also missed opportunity for additional revenue, I mentioned I’d like to take part all and would have of course paid but this wasn’t possible. Getting a canvas from the store so I’lld have taken seconds.

Katrina ran the Beginner's Guide to Crochet today. It was a comprehensive and well run course; just 5 of us which was perfect. There was ample time to practise techniques, ask questions and the one-to-one tuition and guidance was fantastic.

Great experience. Small class so we had individual attention.
All 4 of us had different levels from absolute beginner to someone who has crocheted badly in the past, but no-one felt rushed or bored.
Teachers were chatty and friendly.
Duration enabled us to learn to start a chain and single and treble crochet and there was even time to have a pattern I had brought along explained.
Would certainly try other outsized courses in the future.

Jane was very knowledgeable and showed me all the functions of the sewing machine, the same model as I had purchased. I feel more confident in using the machine. Jane said if I had any problems or needed any help with the projects I was doing in the future to pop into Hobby Craft (Tamworth) and she or Jackie would be only too happy to help. Jane my instructor was brilliant. Very patient and friendly. She had a wealth of knowledge and by the end of the lesson I could thread the machine and do straight stitches and zigzag to a good standard. Would definitely recommend Jane and the class to anyone.

Teacher made me feel very welcome. Being a complete beginner & having just purchased new machine I wanted to check out how to use it, and get some tips on making some bunting & a greyhound bib for my dog. I was shown how best to approach both tasks, the type of materials to use & got to practice some basic sewing techniques during my session. I have now successfully made both items as well as a dog bed. Excellent session tailored to individuals needs.

Had my 1-1 with Emma on Friday 26th. Firstly I felt so welcomed by Emma she is fantastic at what she does! She had so much patience with me. I came for an introduction to Cricut and she went through absolutely everything with me, answered every question I had and shown me some tips and tricks. After my class she advised me on what cricut products would benefit me. I felt so confident after this class with Emma and would really appreciate the feedback being passed onto her. I will definitely be retuning for another class when I have progressed from beginner. Thank you!

Crochet for Beginners.

My teacher, Gill, was absolutely lovely. She was really friendly and patient, put me at my ease, explained and demonstrated everything until I had got the hang of it.

The venue above the store was a little tired but quiet, peaceful and not in a public area so no-one interrupting or coming up to see what you are doing.

Was provided with everything I needed for the class and offered the option to change the colour of wool if I wasn't keen on what had been given.

Total value for money. Turned out I was the only student so had 1:1 tuition.

Learned how to cast on, create a chain, begin a new row, double crochet and triple crochet. I had tried to teach myself but wasn't confident I had got it 100% right so this really gave me confidence.

Thought the instruction was excellent. Materials great value. Not only provided paper instructions, but crochet hook, 2 balls of yarn and a bag to carry it home.

Will definitely go and try another course.

She had a cup of tea waiting for me when I got there.
She was very helpful in advising me as to which machine I might consider buying.

I really enjoyed the course. Teacher was very friendly and helpful and obviously knew her subject. We were provided will wool , crochet needle and instructions. All we needed. We learnt how to cast on and the first three basic stitches which would apparently enable us to make various pieces.
Being a knitter of many years I found it quite hard holding the wool correctly but am told it will get better with practise.
In all for the money an enjoyable afternoon.

Firstly our tutor Jill our June i can’t quite recall her name was brilliant and patient. All our supplies was provided at Tamworth, 2 balls of wool, needle and a how to guide. Oh and a bag to put everything into it. There were 5 ladies of mixed ages that attended and it was very informal, friendly and relaxing. I certainly feel I’ve learnt a skill that I’ll be continuing to do so thank you hobby craft for a very enjoyable hour and a half. Great value for money.

Was a session of 4 of us in a separate room at the back of the store. We had time to do 3 pictures and shown 2 different techniques to pouring. There were other work used for example which was useful to see to help visualise what you can achieve. Was positively encourage and was great to see how everyone’s work turned out. Acrylic pouring workshop today was very messy and a load of fun. All adults today, good tuition and plenty of material to play with. The room is small but as only 5 plus tutor it was fine. Another sink would be good to wash hands in but overall great.

Amy is lovely & is really enthusiastic- she interacts really well with the children. The Workshop was easy to find and the room is reasonably sized for the amount of children taking part.
Plenty of materials provided and I felt the class was good value for money. This was the second workshop we have attended and are looking forward to booking the next one :) The Kids had a great time!

Small group with different levels of experience, Jill are teacher was very good at explaining the techniques and showing us how best to start crocheting. The 1.5hr went so quickly and by the end of the session I was able to do chains, double and treble chains. Jill was very patient with everyone and helped when needed, she answered questions and at the end of the session I felt more confident. But practice does make perfect and by the afternoon I was able to start a granny square! Thanks so much Jill/ Hobbycraft Tamworth!

The one to one with Yvonne was great. She explained everything well.
However 2 things spoilt the experience.
First: I booked online 3 days before my work shop. When l arrived at hobbycraft in Tamworth they were unaware of the appointment. This lessened the experiance as Yvonne would have been able to set up and ask what l would like to learn. Perhaps you need to have a system which notifes the store when people book at short notice.
Second, Yvonne said she would allowed the work shop to go over 10 mintues as we were late starting. At 11.05 a member of staff came in to say Yvonne had a sewing work shop now and while saying this winked at Yvonne 3 times. I felt there was no sewing workshop and l felt upset that she felt the need to be underhand and not just say the work shop was finished. This was unprofessional. It then felt very rushed and l really wanted help to buy materials with a voucher. I tried to buy materials after the session but l feel l was still uncertain of what l needed to buy for my circut joy.

The beginners crochet class was great: the teacher was friendly and patient and let us go at our own pace. We learned to do a slip knot, a row of chains and a couple of different stitches. Will take time and practice to get fully to grips with it. We were given two balls of wool and a crochet hook and these will be great to practice with: we were also given some instructions which we can refer back to. Would highly recommend!

My daughter was poorly the night leading up to the course. I contacted (Sandraif I remember right) at the Tamworth store to ask if o could pick up the kit needed to complete at home. Sandra was so helpful. Advised me it was no issue at collect from the till. When I arrived she came to see me with a huge box of paints and all the supplies needed. I offered to pay but she said it was gifted to allow my daughter to complete properly at home and to make her feel better. This was a lovely surprise! I have another course booked for my 2 girls and can't wait to attend. Thank you Sandra and Hobbycraft will definitely recommend

Jill the teacher was wonderful, explaining the techniques and showing examples.
I thought the lotus flower too complicated for a beginner, much preferring the spray of leaves.
I’ve come home enthused and have embellished the spray of leaves.
I do hope you’ll consider doing an intermediate class later in the year at Tamworth or Stafford please.

The brush lettering class held by Jill at the Tamworth store was excellent. The materials provided were of high quality and I look forward to experimenting with them. My only other comment is that the class could have been another half an hour - an hour and a half instead of 1 hour. However, that may have been because the other participant was late arriving and Jill started on time so we had to go over the beginning again. I will certainly book further classes. Good value for money, thank you.

When I arrived I was met by Jackue who was very friendly and put me at ease. She had a sewing machine similar to mine and talked me through the manual and showed me how to set it up and how to sew various stitches. A perfect start for beginners, would definitely recommend!

I knew nothing about Cricut vinyl. By the end of the session I knew all the different products and their specific uses.

Yvonne was interesting to listen to and very knowledgeable about the products. We had time at the end of the session to create a piece of work and cut it out in vinyl. My granddaughter will love it.

The venue was ideal for two of us but if there were more (it was an open session but I was the only participant) it would have been a bit of a squeeze - particularly if anyone wanted to socially distance in these crazy times.

Yvonne was brilliant. I went to the session for a reminder overview of what I could do with the Cricut machine and the various products I owned. Yvonne explained all the different products, showing me them all from her supplies. Yvonne kindly gave me handouts on the various products as a reminder for the future which she had typed up herself.

The venue was adequate for 2 of us and refreshments were provided and supplemented when necessary.

I had a lovely relaxing time with Gill. I learned a lot and was able to successfully write using pens provided. I am endeavouring to carry on at home to learn each individual letter correctly. Learning worksheets provided. I would like to have a follow up lesson (part 2?) to maybe have letters corrected and also would be interested in artistic positioning of letters. I note online tutoring which I will consider. I also would be interested in other "hands" i.e. copperplate italic etc.

The kind, calm and encouraging instruction from Jill was spot on and we finished the product in the time so perfectly timed too.

The end product was every satisfying. I shared the experience with my 14 year old daughter, who equally enjoyed it (and produced a more perfect product than mine )

Emma the teacher was very good and helpful, she showed us how to cut and prepare the flowers, and how to use the glue gun, she gave us ideas on how to arrange and ways of making bows and wrapping raffia around the leftover flower storks to make make rainbow arches to make a different feature for the wreath.

Karen was lovely and she rang me beforehand to tell me that Yvonne was on annual leave so I had the choice of changing the time or doing the class with Karen. Yvonne was lovely and very informative. She answered lots of my questions and gave me crib sheets to take away with me. As there was only me in the class she was able to show me more than I expected. The room was very good and away from the main shop so no distractions.
I would advise anyone who is new to cricut to book a lesson with Yvonne.

I learned about the maker as this is what i have purchased.Yvonne was an excellent teacher who is an asset to Hobbycraft. Yvonne was able to answer all my queries and also gave me crib sheets to enable me to use at home. I feel overwelmed with everything I was shown, as there is so kuch that thr cricut can do. I will have no problem booking another session with Yvonne. I gove Yvonne full marks for everything. Nothing was a problem and i could have spent more hours with Yvonne.The only one thing i would say as a development to move on would be you have a go and pay more to use the materials and go home with a completed example. As i am a learner who is practical and like learning this way. This is not a negative but just a suggestion. Thankyou once again Yvonne fingers crossed I will be able to send you some of my creations.

Came to support 9 years old granddaughter who loves crafting. Location excellent and teacher very encouraging and supportive and just gave the perfect amount of help and support and came up with additional ideas and chatted and was very approachable when we were unsure of anything ie such as how to use the hot glue gun and the pens supplied. My granddaughter loved everything being in her own box and that she is able to take all of the box and contents home to continue with other crafts. My granddaughter loved being in a separate room from the shop floor and when we left told me it was just brilliant and she had the best day and was so proud to show her parents what she had made. We will definitely be booking more activities. I do always find the staff at the Tamworth branch so kind and helpful

The brush lettering workshop was lovely. Brought this as a birthday gift for my mom, we had a great time.

We all received our own individual kit boxes which contained all the materials needed including pens, paint, brushes and baubles.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the teacher was really helpful and friendly. We will definitely be booking another workshop again soon.

I attended a one to one class with Yvonne from your Tamworth branch.
Although I only had an hour she was well prepared and we discussed a number of projects the Cricut machines could do and the products available.
It was well worth the time and money.

The lady was lovely. I was disappointed. I particularly booked this as a Cricut Maker 3 but the machine the lady had on view was not this machine so she was constantly referring to the differences on show.
Her knowledge of the machines was incredible and her willingness to pass this information on was wonderful. She was let down by the lack of the appropriate machine.

Yvonne was lovely, very friendly and easy to talk to and her knowledge of cricut is excellent, the class was held in a private room where we could talk and we’re not disturbed, I was finding it difficult in transferring files opening etc… but Yvonne broke it down and talked me through the proses and made it sound so easy. Overall it was well worth the money but what makes it that bit more special is that Yvonne is such a patient understand lady, so anyone needing that little bit of extra help I would definitely recommend one of these one-one lesson. My friend and I really enjoyed this class. The teacher was very helpful and gave us lots of ideas and options.
The class was planned for an hour only which is way too short. Fortunately there was no follow on class so we had a little longer otherwise this would have been too rushed.
Items provided were sufficient to make a nice wreath.
A little expensive when comparing with other similar workshops.

It was amazing. Really wanted to make a wreath, and didn't know where to start, and didn't want to waste money trying unguided so booked this workshop. Really helpful and informative. Think it's really good value given the materials are included, glue gun and material for hanging /decorations. My husband couldn't believe the end result! Really enjoyable and would defifintely recommend.

Really enjoyed the workshop. Teacher was lovely, told us what we needed to know, showed us some ideas then was there with help and advice if we needed it. The kit is well worked out with just the right amount of items so there's no waste. The room was a bit cramped, especially in the current climate, and seemed to be more of the staff room than a learning space. My only real negative is the workshop length - only 1 hour, even another 30 mins would have been great, taken the rush out of the meet and greet and everyone would have well and truly finished their wreath.

Hi, we thoroughly enjoyed our sewing workshop today. The lady was very patient, informative and helped us through with ease. Definitely recommend for a beginner with sewing machines. We will be booking another one for the more technical sides of sewing now we know the basics. But just a shame that Ho by tact have our the price up to £15.00 , £10.00 as more than enough to spend on the workshops

Jackie called me the day before to find out what I wanted from the session and she suggested I take my own machine, which I did. I bought the machine during lockdown and have made a few garments but I wanted to find out more about buttonholes and what each of the feet did. We started with buttonholes but unfortunately we both had problems, so we moved onto each of the feet. Jackie showed me how to use each of the feet and now I feel confident to try these at home, she also demonstrated the needle threader and thread cutter which I was unaware of. We finished discussing cleaning and maintenance of the machine. I found the session very useful and feel inspired to use my machine to its full potential. Jackie was very patient and imparted lots of advice on which stitches to use on different materials, which will be really useful. So glad I came, thank you.
