Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Julie was a fabulous teacher at the stockport branch lots of patience and very attentive to my 21 yr old autistic daughter.julie made imogen feel at ease in the class. Imogen was taught the 3 main stitches for crochet and even more stuff.
Imogen received a tote bag with a crochet hook and 2 balls of wool to do the class.
Imogen left the class feeling proud and accomplished.
I would 100% recommend Julie as a teacher.

I booked this for my son and I to do together during the Easter break. We went to the Stockport branch as that's our closest and the venue is spacious. Our teacher was knowledgeable, entertaining and encouraging. Unfortunately I didn't get their name but they were very good. My son has never worked with soft clay so that was a positive new experience. What's great about these classes is that there are so many arty bits and bobs available to use so the activity is value for money. My son loved making his own monsters and wants to be booked onto another class soon!

Julie's workshop was an absolute delight. I wasn't too sure if I would be good at crocheting but her warm demeanour and attentiveness was very encouraging. Super helpful, really allowed me to understand what the Cricut can do and which machine is best for my needs. I took along the materials I felt I was likely to want to cut, so it was great to see that it worked and to get help understanding the best settings. Teacher was lovely and showed me how to do several different things and how to work with the vinyl and use transfer tape.

Booked a private class for this lovely workshop as a birthday treat. The children loved it and got the chance to get really creative with their ideas. Teacher Chloe was lovely and so patient and kind with the children, engaging in their interests and explaining the technique for them to understand. Great value for money too. I will definitely be booking a workshop again. Finish product is hanging proudly on my child's bedroom wall.

My grandson and I enjoyed making the bead rainbow. He's nearly 6 but has a short attention span at times so a half hour activity is just about right for him. The teacher was lovely and friendly and when he finished early she offered him a an extra activity to complete in the form of a bracelet using the beads which he also enjoyed

Great little workshop. Only two children there so plenty of time for advice etc during the build. Great opportunity to use the PlayDoh air dry clay - which we loved, but which hadn’t hadn’t had the best reviews on the Hobbycraft website. Made three models during the class.

The teacher offered alternative activities for him which he really enjoyed. It was good value for money and we will definitely be back to do more craft sessions in the future.

Joanna was very friendly and helpful. The decorations we made are great and i would say that this particular craft (we made hanging xmas tree decorations by threading beads and buttons on to pipe cleaners) is suitable for all children in that age range 3-10.

My grandson and I really enjoyed making the haunted house at the craft session on Wednesday. It was lovely to have the chance to complete it together. He's only 5 and a half so did become distracted and lose concentration towards the end. But we were assured that this was ok and he was able to access the felt pens and paper nearby which really helped

What a great class this was for my girl (3 yrs)
The teacher was pleasant, helpful and good at explaining different techniques to everyone.
We enjoyed it, there was no pressure to create in a certain way so my daughter was able to be expressive which made it more fun!
It was a small group so not overwhelming nor noisy.
We craft alot at home but this was great to get out and do something different and I didn't have to clean up! Great for all skill levels.
Will definitely book for another class another time. 10/10.

Teacher was great. Explained each step, illustrated each step to individuals and was good fun. Position in store was perfect nice and quiet. Not very happy with the yarn that was supplied. Needed brighter colours to help seeing the stitches as a beginner this was important. All in all a very worthwhile workshop.

I took my granddaughter who had previously been to a Christmas card making session and totally love that. Jared the tutor was great, positively engaging and sharing techniques. There was such an aray of colours to choose from which was great, bringing out the creative side of my 6 Yr old granddaughter. The setting was tucked away nicely from other shopper, making the whole experience personal to those attending. It was certainly good value for money and Ruby is already talking about visiting again for Halloween and Christmas sessions. Thanks hobbycraft

Enjoyed the session, good value I bought the workshop when it was on an offer. Good quality box with everything you need. Was able to do 2 coasters and a picture, it did go over the hour but was so engrossed in the activity! The lady who lead the session was lovely and very clear and informative. Really enjoyed it. The demonstrator clearly knew how to communicate well with children. The activities were appropriate and the children had lots of resources to choose from. The environment was very relaxed and both my children (6 &10) enjoyed it

Such a fun time! There were three of us in the class & we had a good laugh together. The teacher was lovely & very helpful. We did a canvas & 2 ceramic coasters, & she taught us a couple of different pouring methods to get different effects. Shame it was only for 1 hour, the time flew & we could've done with a little bit longer.
The kit was good & means I've still got plenty to play with at home too. Altogether a really good workshop. Can't wait to pick up my finished pieces once they've dried.

I had a couple of main questions that they were able to go through and help me with straight away and then we had a general chat about the Cricut machine and they gave me lots of useful hints and tips particularly on maintenance of the machine. Much easier than trying to work out problems using a video.

Kieran was so knowledgeable about the equipment. I am considering purchasing a Glowforge and wanted to see how much I might use it. Great value for money with free pouring kit and ceramic coasters costing nearly as much as the course itself
Would be good if 30 minutes longer so as to be able to complete the canvas and all the coasters. Learned a couple of pouring techniques.
Still have 3 canvas boards from the set to use at home.
Teacher was very good.
Would highly recommend.

My teacher was Eileen. She is lovely lady and a credit to Hobbycraft. She put me at ease and showed me exactly what I needed to know about the problem with my machine. She demonstrated all the stitches and provided lots of useful information for me. She was very patient showing me how to load the bottom bobbin and I never knew there were two types! I feel confident about using the machine and wish I'd booked a lesson sooner instead of struggling to follow the instruction book.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Easter wreath making class. All equipment was provided and the tutor was really helpful and informative. Although the £30 fee initially seemed a little expensive, we were able to take home all equipment as well as the wreath so actually seemed very reasonable. My only slight criticism would be that we could have done with a little longer - maybe 1.5 - 2 hours. However, I would definitely recommend this class. Thank you.

Although the actual class was great - engaging teacher, good setting it was very overpriced for what it was. Usually at the classes we attend there is something good to take away. This class was only done on paper - good quality paper but £8 for a piece of paper is very expensive. The kids used wax crayons, pens and paint on their paper.

The class was the perfect size and the teacher Kieran was so patient and gentle and brilliant at explaining things to an absolute novice. I’d tried YouTube videos but got nowhere so having a person guide me worked perfectly. By the end of the session I had learnt to cast on, knit, purl, change colour and cast off. This was a one off beginner class, in order to make the transition from a beginner to considering buying a pattern to make a cardigan or hat for example. I would need a booster session as it would be a step up from learning the basics. Please could hobby craft consider monthly sessions for this please! A monthly or twice monthly knitting and crochet group for advice, support and a booster session.

Elaine, my sewing teacher, was absolutely fantastic. She was very friendly, encouraging and helpful. It was my first sewing class as a beginner and I learnt so much in this lesson. Elaine taught me how to thread a sewing machine correctly and clearly explained how to troubleshoot common problems. I learnt useful techniques and tips. I practised different types of stitches and I learnt how to sew a perfect corner and a zip. At the end of the lesson, I felt very confident and proud in what I achieved. I highly recommend this class and Elaine.

Very good workshop, well led. Good to be able to learn a new skill in just one session - though lots of practice required post session to achieve mastery. Best sort of workshop to take on board hints and tips that you can then practice at home. Very good resources provided. Good value although the day after I booked the session (for 3) it was advertised at 7.50 discount. Still good value for equipment and teaching though. Becky very helpful.

I had a 1-1 workshop with Kieron on how to use a Cricut machine.
I have watched YouTube tutorials many times but it wasn’t sinking in and I felt that I needed somebody to show me and answer all of my questions.
Kieron is a fantastic teacher, he is very calm and friendly and answered all of my questions. It felt like I was talking to a friend rather than a teacher which put me at ease and I was able take in the information. I came home and was able to make my first project after the workshop.
I will definitely book more workshops at Hobbycraft as they are so affordable and fun.

I enjoyed the session very much - but didn't really feel that I learned a lot, and i don't think an hour is long enough to actually learn a technique like this, as it is all very hurried and then the class ran over which seemed to be a problem. The young lady was lovely - but did her own canvas whilst we worked - whereas I felt she should have been around the table helping people. She was also a little distracted by something happening in the store. All in all good fun - love the product pack - but certainly didn't feel that I learnt anything.

I was a bit apprehensive on entering the building as this is something very much out of my comfort zone, but I was instantly put at ease but who I can only describe as one of the happiest people I have met in a long while. I was surprised that we received our own glue gun that we took home with us and that the materials were of fantastic quality. The instructions were clear, and our teacher was full of praise and encouragement.
As my friend and I walked out of the door we both said how much we had enjoyed ourselves and how we would do another and this is mainly due to the teacher that made it such a relaxing atmosphere. Thank you xx

The only downside was the kids running around the store that was very distracting and every two 5 minutes a customer would approach to ask a question about something they were looking to purchase with no regard to the fact we were trying to learn. Perhaps it would help if another member of the team would be stood upstairs for customers to approach rather than them interrupting the workshops. Also might be an idea to better place the work station to the back of the store.

All in all we learnt the basics and it was good value for money however I’d rather pay a little more for a more suitable learning experience without all the interruptions so we won’t be looking to book any further workshops at this setting.

The teacher was really good, my only complaint was the workshop was in the middle of the store and the teacher kept getting interrupted by customers asking where things were, so not really a one to one 1hr lesson. Not the teachers fault. Maybe find a place where you can have your workshop without interpretations every 5 minutes.

Great value for money school holiday activity, my daughter was in a small group so had lots of attention from the teacher Rina who was lovely & friendly. There was a good selection of paint, brushes & sponges to use, the session was lovely & chilled & my daughter happily painted for for the full hour. I’ll definitely book another class in the future.

What was the teacher like? friendly and engaging
How was the venue ? at the very back of the store,a sign would have helped find it,was enough space for everyone and comfortable
If materials were provided, did you like them? even the adults had a play with it very good for sensory seekers, enough for everyone and staff didnt push sales but mentioned enough to help find it in store and answer questions

I attended a mug press class taught by Reena at Hobbycraft. She explained very well and answered all my questions. She showed me how to set up the mug press I.e what temperature it should be and how to use it.
When everything was done, the mug was ready to put in the mug press.
After a few minutes it was done and taken out and put it on a heatproof mat. The hour went by very fast.
I enjoyed the class with Reena. I would also recommended any classes done by her to my Family and friends. I will come again. Great tutor and helper.

It was an amazing opportunity to see the machine in action. The facilitator was able to answer all my questions and provide very useful information on top. I really liked the fact that I was given the chance to do a couple of projects myself just to have the experience and judge myself whether is the right machine for me or not.
I did the workshop without having purchased the machine. I do recommend the workshop, even for beginner tips such as how to maintain the mats, difference in mat grips, tools etc which it would take a lot longer to research on my own

This lesson was for my 9 year old daughter. It gave her the knowledge and confidence to start using her machine. The teacher was fantastic and aimed it just at her level (and mine… as I have no sewing knowledge!) He gave her really good tips on how to get started. I will definitely book her another lesson once she’s up and running.

I just felt there could have been more materials available to choose from that could capture their imagination more and keep them engaged, it was just sequins, tissue paper and pom poms really so got a bit samey!

Me and my friend booked this class as it was something we were interested in.
The £25 price was more than good value for money! The materials provided were good quality and we even got a spare copy of the letter template.
The teacher Becky was fabulous! She was very encouraging and supportive. Considering the class was only for an hour it felt as if we had been there for longer. So much was shown to us and talked about and we really really enjoyed it.

My children enjoyed this workshop. They had a choice of canvasses and plenty of paint and brushes were supplied. The teacher was super friendly, even showing them some techniques and how to best mix acrylic paints. Well worth the price.

I had a One-to-one Sewing Workshop with Kieran. I was just about to buy my first sewing machine and wanted a walk-through / refresher. I also had some specific sewing project questions that I wanted to go over. Kieran was really knowledgable, patient and our session was at a good pace. He was really good with keeping me on track, providing guidance and suggestions to help make my sewing project as straightforward (and manageable!) as possible. I left the session feeling energised and confident. Would have no hesitations with recommending one of Kieran’s workshops to friends (and others).

I attended a 1-1 sewing session with Kieran at the Stockport hobbycraft store on 17th March.
It was fantastic!

Kieran showed me how to use my new machine including all the bits that came with it.

He explained how to use different stitches and what they would be used for and gave me lots of tips and tricks which I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Kieran is clearly very knowledgeable and was a brilliant teacher. He answered all my questions and explained things in a way that made sense. Having face to face sessions at the store is an excellent way to help people learn.

We covered everything I needed to know to get me started and I really enjoyed learning from him.

I will definitely book another session when I've got the basics sorted to help me move on to the next stage with my sewing.

I've already recommended the sessions to my friends and will continue to do so.

I would also like to say how friendly and helpful all the staff at Stockport hobbycraft are. Every time I have been in it has been a lovely experience and I always enjoy my visits to the store.

I attend this session with my friend. The table was set at the back of the store upstairs so a nice quiet place with all the equipment we needed in the bag.
Julie was a great and very patient teacher, especially having to cope with 5 people with varying degrees of skill.
I learnt quickly and was very excited to come home and practised with the wool in my bag.
I wished you did follow up course as I have all the equipment but would love to build on what I learnt and maybe learn some new stitches.

We did a workshop for a kids canvas workshop, at the Hobbycraft shop in Stockport. My 2 girls have loved it, the lady leading the workshop, ( Julie, I think) was very engaging and helpful. We were able to take the canvas home, along with the paint and paintbrushes. All in all, it was great value for money and a good way to keep the kids happy (and still!) for 1 hour.

Rina was very knowledgable with the Circuit machine and projects that we had questions about. She was focused on us during the whole time and made us comfortable from the moment we met her.

this was a great introduction to infusable ink, we went through the material and how to keep the ink looking great. The tips around design space also helped and I went away eager to get going, would love if they made this a project course so that you could also make something.

Really enjoyed the class, The teacher (Julie) explained that people had found the bunting hard so offered to start us with a granny square instead. It was very fiddley to get the hang of, but Julie was very patient, spending time with each person and making sure they understood the steps. I booked the lesson for my two children ( age 10 & 14) who had wanted to learn. They are both now happily crocheting away on their squares and loving it.

The Crochet pack I was given was very generous and well stocked containing more than enough for the class and to practice at home. Took my granddaughter (nearly 5) who had been very excited for the day to come around. The teacher- Rina was absolutely brilliant with her. She gave ideas for the cards, colours and materials, she interacting very well and shown genuine interest. The venue was perfect, a good sized area to spread out and have everything that was needs for the session and more. The materials used and given to take home were of top quality, mum and dad couldn't believe such a big box of craft materials came with the session price. Fantastic class, small group so able to check how to make up the wreath from kir provided.
Attending gave info on how to make up wreaths and use of embellishments.

All wreaths different which inspires for future projects.
Plus we all learned how to make an easy bow from another lady.

Excellent value for money, the assistant went through lots of hints and tips we designed something I could use as part of my Christmas decoration I was given some samples to use at home

Elaine was very experienced and knowledgeable she was approachable and easy to ask questions. She watched my use the machine and have constructive and useful advice. I really enjoyed the session and would happily book on one of her classes again.

Wonderful staff, really friendly and helpful with some great ideas. Really good space. Some of the decorations didn't fit very well into the size of baubles provided and the trees were a bit tatty looking. Really enjoyed the class though, will do more

Kieron was excellent and he talked me and my daughter through the set up our machine and pointed out where we had been going wrong. My Daughter practised sewing on some fun practise sheets. We came away with lots more confidence and fun ideas to try.

Lesson went well, although i use a laptop so the Ipad wasn't something i was familiar with. Was helpful to see how to weed and that the card i had is too thin for cutting, i was having issues with it at home. Made a card for my mum and i got to take home some glitter card which was lovely. 1 hour definitely isn't long enough because i had a million questions!

The workshop was good, i wished it was longer for the money i paid as i was enjoying the tasks so time just seemed to go.
The staff were friendly and approachable. The main employee running the workshop had a good knowledge of the craft, she was informative and happy to help! she made me feel relaxed and we were able to have a friendly chat throughout the session :)
I liked that i received a good, quality starter pack for the brush lettering and will definitely be practicing more with them at home!
I would definitely consider doing another workshop again!

I came to the autumn wreath making workshop with my cousin; there were two other ladies also on the session. We were each given a box full of goodies with which to make the wreaths. We all had a great time and had a few laughs along the way. It only lasted an hour but it was long enough to make the wreaths. Janet ran the workshop; she was lovely and very encouraging to us all.

It was great to have my own box of materials (with lots of spare to take home) and I'm happy with what I made. It was a lovely relaxing time out and so much credit for that goes to the teacher - friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and she gave me lots of great tips and practical suggestions

I used this tutorial as a prelude to purchasing a machine. Arrived as a complete beginner. The teacher was very helpful, guided me through the whole process from threading to operating a sewing machine. I had a multiple questions all were answered confidently and with full knowledge of the subject.

Just purchased a cricut so thought I’d learn from the professionals, Rina went in depth and certainly put my mind at rest, Showed me all the basics that I need to know to get on my way, Answered all the questions I had, Which believe me was quite a lot,
Give advice on the products I’d use for what projects, Can’t wait to get started now, Also a big Thank you to Janice on the till for all her assistance too, Customer service 5 star, will be booking my next course as soon as I finish writing this

The supplies and store and area were 100% and the equipment was perfect
I learnt everything that i set out to and more, i will be back for more courses to help fine tune my skills and would recommend not only the course but James as he was so patient and informative
I am really keen now to get the skills i learnt into practice and master them so i can move on and get another course booked to become fully skilled and knowledgeable myself
best £10 i have spent in a long time

Thank you very much for our unicorn dream catcher workshop this morning. We loved opening the box at the start and finding all the lovely resources inside. The workshop itself was really nice and moved on at an appropriate pace. What to do was demonstrated clearly and we didn’t feel rushed in any way. We were really pleased to be able to take the remaining resources home to use again. Thank you very much . We will be back for another workshop in the future.

Rina was extremely knowledgeable about the Cricut machine. Very patient and understanding.
I needed basic input/revision which Rina helped me with.
The only point I would like to make is that it would have been better to have some 'hands on' experience under the tutor's supervision/guidance.
The venue was very good on the whole but it would have been better to have the teaching section separated /cordoned off from the rest of the shop in order to prevent shop customers coming and asking questions etc. from the tutor whilst he/she is teaching.
A very good session from Rina otherwise and I would most definitely ask for another session in the near future.

James was great, very informative, friendly, easy to understand.

Few technical difficulties with the machine but James overcame the challenges.

I liked the fact that i could use the machine myself and come away with a coaster.

We booked the 9am session so the store was fairly quiet, can imagine if later on in the day it would feel as though you was being watched by other customers and potentially the staff member will be asked questions for help with products. As it’s not clear it is a lesson area.

The lessons need pushing more as I really enjoyed it. I will be back to learn more (iron on vinyls)
