Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Lauren was very approachable, patient, crystal clear in her guidance and we concentrated on exactly the stumbling blocks I had moving forward on my crochet knowledge.
If only I had booked the 1-2-1 earlier! I will definitely book another workshop when I get to the next stumbling block with my project. It would have been very easy to roll it up and leave it ; instead I’m inspired to continue.

I did a beginner’s crochet workshop. Yarn, a hook and instructions were provided. The teacher was very good at explaining what to do. Definitely recommend it. I learnt 4 stretches and how to change colours

I went to the crochet session to learn the basics of the skill.
The teacher Lauren was extremely patient and not rushing any of us. We chatted about the town, why we wanted to learn, we chatted as a small group making it all more relaxing. The venue was upstairs of the Hobbycraft shop, however as a disabled person I had the use the service lift.
I learned the basic crochet stitching and made almost a square though it did resemble a butterfly!
Maybe the cost was a bit steep for 2 balls of yarn, a crochet hook and a printout?
It was fun meeting up with others of a similar age with similar interests, and Lauren was just so lovely.

Out with a friend for a fun craft activity.
Teacher was lovely and helpful as I have two children to support and the teacher would help one while I focused on younger child.
A great spacious environment. Other locations are a bit squashed on space.

Really enjoyed learning to crochet today. Lauren was very patient. There were only 4 of us and we all got on well which was perfect. We were given 2 balls of chunky wool which was great as our work grew quickly. Lauren was very good at helping us whe we got stuck. I've tried teaching myself in the past and got nowhere but I really feel I've learned the basics now and it wasn't as difficult as I thought. The workshop was well worth the money.

My little one really enjoyed her time painting Canvas - the teacher was really friendly and patient. she encouraged the little ones with lots of praises. The class is good value for money because of all the different materials available to create the product and then to be able to take the finish product back home is just great. Loved the acrylic paint pouring for beginners course. Tutor was very friendly and helpful. We made 2 canvases and 1 coaster and learnt a couple of techniques. We got a big kit each of paints and other accessories including canvases coasters which we used in the class and took home to experiment some more.

It was a big deal for me to join in with a class and something I have never done before, so I was anxious. I needn’t worry as I was made to feel at ease and was shown the steps of crocheting one to one when I was struggling. Lovely teacher and a great class. Will definitely look into doing another.

Karen that did the workshop was lovely and I have all good things to say about her, sadly the actual item that my child made I felt was poorly thought out, it looked nice when it was being decorated but when it dried and we got home it had rolled up and just looked really disappointing, not what I would call £8 worth, we have done lots of workshops and all have been brilliant with lovely items made so its a shame this one wasnt as good.

Both children loved the session and really enjoyed making the clay Christmas models. Would definitely do another craft class, the only suggestion is for classes to be a bit longer - even if only by 15 mins - as 39 mins is really short

Venue at Hobbycraft was good. We sat around a table & were presented with a “goody” bag. Large crochet hook & 2 balls of chunky wool, nice complimentary colours - there were also A4 instruction sheets and a really nice tote bag. Lauren & Dawn were brilliant & had lots of patience with all of us. We all managed to crochet a square by the end of the session. Most importantly, we all had a laugh and the evening just flew by. Most enjoyable.

I didn’t feel I learnt very much tbh, Amy was good, but when I got home I wasn’t able to transfer what she taught me… I feel a day long workshop and step by step tuition alongside using the app and cricut joy would be so much better. I’d be happy to pay more for a longer workshop.

The member of staff was knowledgeable and helpful, willing to make suggestions. The equipment worked well and I learnt how to use a glue gun. We had a neat corner away from the store crowds and were able to concentrate on what we were doing. The materials were sufficient for the xmas wreath we were making and all of the wreaths were different when we had finished them.
Overall a very interesting, happy occasion. Thank you.

Had the best private class ever at Stevenage Hobby Craft . Perfect for a complete beginner. Having one to one gave me the confidence to progress quite quickly which I don't think would have been the same in a larger class. Tutor was kind and very patient, Loved it.

First - the teachers were fantastic - keen, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced.

Unfortunately - and this was beyond their control - the workshop had to take place on the shop floor so we were naturally constantly interrupted by customers asking for help (which had to be given, of course).

Also, the blade on the machine was blunt and so we didn't manage to cut anything until the third try, which took up a lot of time.

Design Space was demonstrated on an iPad - I use it on my PC and there was no opportunity to use the program in my preferred way.

I would have liked to have been able to sit down during the workshop rather than stand throughout.

There was no opportunity for Print-then-Cut to be demonstrated.

Just to reiterate, this is not at all critical of the two teachers just the situation/circumstances.

The teacher Sian was very knowledgeable about the sewing machines. She was honest and did not try to push me into buying a particular machine. I felt relaxed and was able to try out different machines. The session enabled me to make my own decision as to which machine to buy. It was much better than just picking up a machine from the shelf.

This class exceeded our expectations. My friend and I booked a class for just the two of us on a date and time to suit us.
We were warmly welcomed by our teacher Sian and given a craft bag including two balls of wool, a crochet hook and some helpful notes to take home.
Sian was an engaging and knowledgeable teacher and the hour and a half session flew buy.
We both really enjoyed this class and would recommend it to anyone who wants a introduction taster to crocheting.

Really enjoyed the beginners guide to crochet although the teacher commented that I was too advanced for the class. The teacher Sian & assistant Lauren were both very knowledgeable & helpful. The venue was in a quiet part of the shop which was good. I learnt how to count the stitches which is something that I’ve previously struggled with and how to chain stitch, single crochet, Treble crochet slip stitch and a magic circle. I enjoyed the one to one with the teacher and patience she gave throughout the class.

My one to one was with Sian. She was friendly and informative. She showed me things that I was doing wrong which was very helpful. I enjoyed the hour with her, it went very quickly. If I have anymore questions or I have difficulty with my crochet, I would probably book another session. Also I think I may book into another class for the Cricut.

Sam was incredible. She helped me with a pattern that was not readable, but she worked it out! Her advice on how to cut and sew the coat has given me the confidence to complete the project. Sam also helped me pick out the co-ordinating thread - a first-class service. It is clear to see how passionate Sam is about her craft and it is very infectious!

The one-to-one session reminded me of sewing techniques I had forgotten - I haven't used my sewing machine for a number of years. Sam is professional and extremely easy to chat with, which was relaxing.

I really enjoyed the session and have already recommended the one-to-one sessions to my friends and family.

Great workshop, very enjoyable and well led by Sian from Stevenage Hobbycraft.
My granddaughter and I both learned a lot and were delighted with what we produced.
It was very good value given that you take home enough materials to make a lot more canvases and coasters at home. I think the value of the materials more than outweighed the cost of the workshop - which taught us how to use the materials and gave us confidence to do it at home.

The class I had with Olivia was exceptionally good! Olivia has a clear, friendly teaching style which allowed me to be hands-on. I learned a great deal in a short space of time and I now feel able to sew with chiffon, using the correct stitches and technique. My alteration skills have also improved.

Sam is a wonderful teacher. I learned everything I needed to know and more. She was very knowledgeable and answered my many, many questions patiently and with enthusiasm - I really picked her brain! She demonstrated the different machines and tailored the demo to what I wanted to learn. She was helpful and friendly and made the session really fun! She was also a great sales person because, rather than selling to me, she helped me to buy. I ended up buying loads of stuff but it was all things that I needed to create the projects I wanted to do so, although I spent a lot, it was all money well spent and I have saved on not having to rely on trial error! She is an asset to Hobbycraft and Cricut.

Had Sam as a teacher and learnt so much. I’m very new to sewing and we went through all the basics and began working on patterns. She taught me how to sew in zips and make a pouch. The machine we used was very good, as similar to mine as we could find which helped a lot. Keeping all of the materials used in my lesson to look back on!

The only thing this class was missing is the permission to bring and use your own machine. That said, everything else was satisfactory. I was lucky to have Karen give me a little guidance, I found her lovely, very helpful, willing to answer all my questions. I came home having learned 5 or 6 new things, I was given a few pieces of fabric called the driving test of sewing. If ever I am stuck with a project I can just book another one-to-one sewing workshop, so I was told. Huge shout out to Karen, thanks again for that one hour, I really appreciate your help. Take care guys and keep up the good vibes. Thank you.

This was a lovely workshop: great value for the goods provided in the wonderful Hobbycraft box and our crafter, Lauren, was fabulous. She came with some she had made previously and gave us inspiration to get started.

Only criticism was it would have been better to be a bit longer - 90 mins like other workshops rather than the 60 mins allotted which went far too quickly!

No knew the workshop was on until we turned up.
The rest of the workshop started badly so therefore continued to be chaotic with stock to be found and no organisation to it. We came home with something but if we had more interaction, resources and equipment this would have been ten times better

Lovely. The contents doesn’t match the instructions and the snowflakes stamper is not correct as it’s a bauble with snowflake. The teacher was great and improvised and found a cake print to use. Would be better to have a box to open like a surprise to see the contents and easier to take the items home in. It was fun and relaxing event and I would do it again or look into other workshops

I had a session with Ams who showed me how to use the Cricut Joy and the Design Space app. Ams showed me what different materials I can use, how to load the materials, how to design things using the app and we did some cutting and lettering using the pen. I took my 2 grandchildren for this activity. They were the only ones in the class but the lady (Dawn) was extremely good with them giving them ideas and encouraging them with ideas. It was good that that it was upstairs (Stevenage branch) as they were not put off with customers walking round them. The clay that they were given was value for money. The children enjoyed this afternoon activity.

The lady that did the workshop was so lovely and welcoming and was brilliant with all the children, really engaging.
My daughter loved the workshop and being able to create some fossils to take home, there was plenty of time to make them and we didnt feel rushed at all. The Stevenage venue was easy to get to and to get upstairs as well, there was a lift which is great for parents like myself with pushchairs.
We have booked some more workshops over summer and are looking forward to them.

A really interseting and informative session. The teacher was friendly and totally capable of getting her ideas and techniques over. She was wearing a name badge, but I was so nervous I cannot remember it! I do apologise as she was very kind.
I have never done this before, but by the end of the session I had completed a little crochet piece. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be but the teacher we had was so patient and she worked with each group member individually as we were all at different levels. I feel confident to keep trying now at home and would recommend the course to anyone wanting to have a go at crochet.

Really amazing workshop that covered everything from opening the box through to layering. Brilliant demonstrations to show how the app worked. I didn't realise just how much you could do with a cricut. Would highly recommend this workshop. I'm so glad I did it and have finally opened the box and made something!

Karen was fantastic! My project was one Karen had no experience of (leather jacket zip replacement) so Karen called me before the session to clarify a few details. When I arrived Karen was very helpful and provided clear and honest feedback on how I could tackle the project, pointing out areas I would need to trial and how to do so. I really appreciated how helpful Karen was and she had some great ideas on how I could simplify my approach.
If you have a project you need assistance with I would highly recommend a one to one with Karen.

Teacher was excellent and provided a great refresher in the basics of getting started with a swing machine . She showed me the basics of mine and then used the one in Hobby craft when electricity was required She was very helpful in advice and suggested new needles. The venue was excellent at Hobby craft easy to get to light and airy and easy to park.
I feel confident now to start to se the machine on my own

Aydin had lots of fun at his first Hobbycraft workshop. He did ceramic painting and is really happy with his robot that he painted. We were given paints, brushes, water and paper and given help when we needed it. We’re back for paper mache on Monday and looking forward to that too. Thank you!

Teacher was welcoming and friendly, easy to talk to.
Plenty of space and materials provided to get on with what we where there to do. We came home with some lovely decorated eggs to display for Easter.

Teacher was Karen @ Borehamwood Branch. She was very knowledgeable, proactive and happy to share her experience with my daughter [who the class was booked].
Karen even was happy to explain different sewing machines which may suit my daughter's ability. We took her advice and upgraded the sewing machine from Hobby craft midi to Janome 4400 sewing machine.
My daughter told me that she learnt a lot and was very happy with the 1-2-1 course with Karen.
I am going to book another 1-2-1 course for my daughter in a couple of weeks especially with Karen.

The Teacher-Ams, was easy to interact with.
However, the workshop did start a good 10 mins late, with the previous workshop having over ran. I was left waiting (I was the only attendee), not knowing what was going on. I consider a gap between the timing of workshops would allow for more flexibility, to cover fro any delays. I then did not have the full 90 minutes for the workshop-though as this ended up being a one to one workshop, I did not pursue this issue at the time.
I consider the materials were good, apart from a blade which was provided within the kit was blunt. I did not realise this & tried to persist in using it, thinking I was not putting enough on pressure or was not doing it right. This then affected my confidence in the activity & also in the quality of the materials provided & in any future materials I might purchase.

We found the teacher, Karen very helpful and patient.
Venue was fine, simple.
Materials were very adequate indeed. Everything we needed for our class.
Good value for money especially as it was almost one to one.
My daughter was a complete beginner who came away with confidence to carry on knittingwhich she achieved doing a few rows without any help. I could knit but haven't for many years. I was able to get advice from Karen who taught me some things I didn't know before.

I have been receiving help from Hobbycraft, in Stevenage, to understand my own, old and temperamental sewing machine better. Today threw up some technical challenges but, with Karen's dogged determination and help from her manager, the issues were resolved and I went home armed with new knowledge and confidence about how to tackle operational problems on my machine as will as new sewing skills. Thank you ladies, I am so very grateful to you. Because my instuctor works part time, I would love to be able to book my next lessons in store at a time when she is in, without the need to ring the store separately after booking online.

I have not seen my sewing machine in thirty years and have searched and searched for someone to reaquaint me with my own sewing machine. I had a lesson with Karen yesterday and she was absolutley brilliant at familiarising me with the machine and its functions. She has got me started after all these years, I am so excited. Fantastic afternoon! The teacher was friendly and enthusiastic and nothing was too much trouble. She made us all feel at ease and relaxed and we had a great time. All resources were provided including a box of craft stuff to take home and carry on. Excellent value for money too. Our workshop leader was Hannah who was lovely: welcoming and patient. She was really happy to go at each persons pace snd repeat as each person was ready or asking for advice - there were 8 on our workshop.
I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, I went with three friends but it was lovely chatting to others too - also hearing about other workshops they had attended.
It was a good value pack and Hannah also provided some additional paints for us to use during the class which was brilliant. The brush lettering itself is quite difficult, everyone felt the thin lines more difficult and I think more practice is required at home before putting pen to ceramic. The pens are maybe too thick for the size of the objects we were writing on, especially for beginners.
We overran which Hannah was fine with and didn’t make us feel we had to go after the hour but I feel an hour is too short.
I’d recommend the class and I look forward to attending more in the future. Thank you Hannah!

Both Ams and Hannah who ran the course were extremely knowledgeable about the machine and all the ways it can be used. We had a good demonstration and saw many examples of how it had been used to create different items. I came away with so many different ideas. It has certainly made me want to purchase one.

Hannah was an excellent teacher and the class was held in the upstairs area of the shop which is normally only for staff, so there was plenty of space.We were given our kits, as well as having extra decorations available to use. The time went by quickly, but most of us managed to finish our wreaths. I had previously only done online classes, but will definitely be going to more classes on site.

The ‘workshop’ was ok, but there was just me attending…. Hannah the member of staff was lovely, friendly and chatty. I felt that to run with just one attendee isn’t really a workshop. I enjoy decoupage and the knowledge I did come away with, is to paint the stags head first as a good base and to ensure the pattern on the paper comes through clearer. Thanks Hannah, you were good company.

The teacher as very welcoming the venue was a great space. The pack came with all you needed but the modelling tools were very basic and looking through the store after there were better cheaper versions available but out of the clay modelling area. It’s was great value for money and I really enjoyed. The group was small and all previous crafters so the teacher really didn’t have to show us much but she did provide more kit than was in the box for stamping well done all round

Hannah was lovely, so friendly.
Everything we needed was in the kit. However, we did use done additional glue and glitter that Hannah had which really made it look fabulous.
Much easier to make than I thought it would be!
Needed another hour though as we were having such a great time.

She showed me the best apps to download and help with making items and designs. I had a lovely time making some beautiful flowers, that everyone commented on when they saw them. Firstly the teacher, Hannah, was great, she was knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. I brought along my own Cricut Joy which was lucky as the Joy wasn’t an available machine but that wasn’t an issue as I had my own. The materials provided were great and helped in my learning. We created 2 things and spoke about the Cricut design app. The venue was great, we had a private space that was suitable for the workshop.

All the materials were provided, however, as it was painting and then using pva glue I would have liked a way to clean the brushes in between. Overall however I did enjoy the class and was already planning the next class I wanted to sign up to.

I spent a interesting hour - one to one - with Hannah. I can see what a circuit cutter does now , nor sure if I want one at present, a lot of computer work involved. We made 2 pieces of art work- I would have liked to pick the colours but it was a demonstration. Well worth the fee , least days prices

Booked for both my girls (10 and 11 years) we had Hannah from the Stevenage branch do their tutorial. She was fantastic and so patient with them and helped them learn this new technique. It was also lovely to see her interaction with their interests too.
It would be lovely to see more activities for this age. Mine have a love of bracelet making with beads and gemstones and a class for that age category would be brilliant maybe in the future.

Hanna who was our teacher for the Kids Friendship Bracelet Making class was very friendly and knowledgable and her instructions were very easy to follow.

The venue was fine, plently of space to work and clean.

All the materials provided were excellent, enough to make two bracelets in store and plenty more materials in the box to take home and practice on.

The class was great value for money and materials provide.

Kids Friendship Bracelet Making class, were the kids learnt to create plaited bracelets using colourful threads and beads.

The class was great for kids to learn a new skill!

My daughter had a wonderful session with Hannah today.
She is new to Cricut and is only 10 years old.
Hannah was kind an considerate and used inclusive methods so that my daughter could follow along at a child’s pace, yet drumming some of the techniques into me so that I can adequately support at home.
