Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Took my daughter during half term and she loved it. The lady was so lovely and helpful and you could see she enjoyed it too. Lots of colours to choose from for the beads and enough there for everyone. Good value for money as my daughter had fun and the materials, we couldn’t get for that price to do it at home. We will look at other activities to go again soon.

Sarah was great at explaining what needed to be done and the kids loved the experience. The balls look great once finished, but for a better result needs a top layer of glue or something which would be nice if could be done at the workshop.

Majda was fabulous and great with the kids. The activity could be clearer on the website, we thought it was painting but it was made using tissue paper and glue, which was fine but unexpected. I would also like for it to be clear that if we want to use an apron to bring our own. Otherwise great experience with a great teacher.

The lady taking the workshop was miserly with the materials, was handing out the fly in v small quantity and did not want to give even a little extra. With kids you can’t be so strict about materials and that kind of made our experience poor.

Teacher Jade was brilliant and calm.
Venue was upstairs in Staines and we were first told there were no toilet facilities and we were to go to Costa which meant missing 10 mins of the session, until I said I mentioned we were on 3 sessions, they then allowed us to use the facility toilets.
This should be compulsory anyway.
All provided materials were brilliant, we made 2 items, both were great so this was good value.
We bought the ceramic baubles after so will be making our own baubles at home.

The teacher Jade was brilliant, was very patient and helpful all the way through.

The class, however is very badly timed as in half an hour, we just about got one character done. We didn't have time to do 2 characters which is quite unfortunate seeing as we wanted to make a pair. This should be an hours class as the clay is hard to work with when it dries up - also there should be an example of what the finished product should look like so we have a vision.

Thank you Hobbycraft for a great craft session. The teacher, Paula was very kind and helpful, with the mache paper and helping with ideas for the design. We couldn’t finish on the day, so bought some more paper and a couple of extra bits to paper mache. We are enjoying doing the craft activity, a couple of days later, during what is still a day off for half term.

Table in Staines shop get cramped. Wasn’t fully cleared before session so a large gift hamper took a lot of space. Good that there were only five places. Friendly facilitator but pretty hands off. Let the parents lead. Appreciated large box to take wet pumpkins home. Extra bonus that box turned into Xmas craft idea. £16 for both of my children felt like a pricier treat considering the experience. £5 each felt more what I’d spend.

Susan was an amazing teacher. She taught us how to chain, double/triple/half-triple stitches. Very patient and great at explaining.

We got to choose 2 different yarns (whatever colours you like, though it’s easier to learn on lighter colours) and were given a crochet needle as well!

Would highly recommend for anybody who is keen to start crocheting!

Expected a bit more to be honest in terms of guidance or sharing of some useful techniques to the children attending workshop.
It is a great that we leave the children to be creative but it also helps to share some ideas and a bit of demo.
Overall a nice experience for the child. He enjoyed it and lovely and helpful lady who took the workshop.

We were a small class of three which was nice because we could all ask questions and check our progress without interrupting others. Our teacher Sarah was friendly, patient and managed to show us several types of stitch in the time we had. We were invited to choose two colours of wool and were given a crochet hook, all of which were included in the course and we could bring home for practice. The class took place in the middle of the store which was fine but bear in mind if you’re self conscious, people will be coming over to see what you are doing. I’m glad I went and would recommend this course for people looking to try something new.

i loved decorating my Easter bonnet. There was lots of glittery things and I liked the rabbits and pom-poms. I used lots of jewels on my hat. I would have liked to use the glue gun but the teacher said it was for grown ups only. Clemmie( age 4)

Very patient and encouraging teacher, who gave good clear demonstrations. The starter pack was great - very well thought out with everything needed! The time flew by; I could easily have sat practising for longer, but at least I’ve got the pack to work on at home. Very well worth the money, and so much fun!

Our teacher was very good and patient interacting with all the children and adults. The class was held in a very good area I attended this with my 5 year old granddaughter she absolutely loved it and couldn’t wait to take home her spiders who now have pride of place on the fireplace ready for Halloween party.

The class was great run by a brilliant teacher. It took place on the shop floor and there were some interruptions from other shoppers but this did not detract from the enjoyment.
The materials provided were very good and the usage of them was well explained.
The time allotted was not sufficient to completely finish the piece but rather than rush it I was happy to finish it at home.
I would recommend this workshop but be prepared to complete at home.

My grandson enjoyed rolling and stretching the clay before making his dinosaur ‘fossil’. He chose the 4 dinosaurs he wanted and it was quite easy to make an impression in the clay. The colleague who did the workshop chatted to him about the size of clay needed for different dinosaurs and named them too. She was helpful and friendly. The workshop didn’t take long, but that was ideal for a just turned 4 year old! He liked that he got to keep the little dinosaurs along with his ‘fossils’.

No clear signs or staff to ask where the session was. We found the table at the back of the upper floor. Kids enjoyed the session and was good value for the materials available. Instructor was very friendly, but an example already made for the kids to see would have been helpful as I don't feel they really understood what they were supposed to do at first. Would come again.

Bit disappointing. The masking tape didn’t hold the paint out and was quite difficult to do a C. We didn’t know until we removed it when we got home that it had bled so not quite the nice finish she wanted to give as a gift.

Susan was great, very easy to understand and very encouraging, being the only participant I had a one on one lesson so any problems were sorted very quickly and I came away feeling confident that I would be able to continue my new found crochet skill.
The area that we used in store was quiet and clean, the package I was given had 2 chunky wool balls and large crochet needle but we used smaller needle and wool for course. It had a good leaflet of stitches with great pictures and instructions, just a shame that there wasn’t an easy pattern included, but overall a great experience.

I attended this ‘workshop’ and found the facilitator was slow to engage with us and asked if we could read a pattern. Rather than asking our preferred method of learning
I suggested we all may need one to one instruction and maybe she could come round and check our work which she did but one of the ladies had done a lot incorrectly and had to undo it !
All participants had not done macramé before
We didn’t have enough time to complete the 1st task so we were quickly shown the 2 other knots before the class finished
We took everything home and was advised to look on u tube for further instructions
I admit I was disappointed as not everyone is computer literate

Very enjoyable but was slow to start and instruction not clear at first.
Could be down to me never doing anything like it before so needed more individual instruction.
Nowhere near enough time to even get half way through finishing it, which was very disappointing. Rushed to show us the last knots and then advised to look it up on YouTube if needed.

I was surprised that as I was the only attendee that the class, led by Vicky, had not been cancelled. Vicky was very personable which made the class enjoyable. She had an hour to show, very clearly, what technique I should use to produce my desired effect and how best to transport my work home. Enjoyable, but wished We had more time and other equipment to practice different effects. Sufficient materials left for metro take home and practice.

The glue was not great as everything the children glued on fell off immediately as it was tacky glue. The teacher was not as friendly as others we have had previously. Disappointed children as they left unhappy that nothing stayed attached to their hat. Such a shame as they normally leave very happy.

Great introduction to cricut. Was unsure which machine to buy, it's all a maize Chloe answered all my questions, showed the software and did a trial cut with vinyl. Have now a much better understanding of how it works and which machine suits my needs.

Our teacher was great, very helpful and extremely patient. We left the workshop knowing the basic crochet skills required to create crochet bunting. We were provided with all of the tools to take away with us and complete the project. It was a fun session and well worth the money.

This was so disappointing. When I booked the class for my 10 y.o. daughter because we just bought a Hobbycraft sewing machine and my daughter wanted to get confidence using it, in the booking confirmation letter there was mentioned specifically, “don’t bring your own sewing machine”. And the first question the lady who ran the class asked was “Have you brought your sewing machine?” So, the model we bought was not available for the class. The class was completely unstructured. Even though there was just two participants, my daughter had been left to her own devices for a lot of time. No attention, no bailable advice, nothing. And we travelled for an hour to get to this class.
I ‘m afraid it wouldn’t encourage my daughter to sewing but the opposite, this attitude and the fact that the machine she desperately wanted to master, wasn’t available, can put her off.

Chloe was great. Answered all my questions. The area for the demonstration was perfect. Just a shame internet was lost for a while halting the demonstration. This was a very good introduction for me to start trying my Cricut machine. I will be back for another class learning how to use fabric, etc.

I really liked Paula and she was helpful but the class was not what I expected at all.

For a start, you should have a sign on the desk that says “Class in Progress, please do not disturb” – we were interrupted twice and I think this is a bit cheeky when I am paying for one-to-one tuition and to be disturbed by random questions. Or maybe you should think about having an extra member of staff upstairs during classes.

Secondly, in my one-to-one class, I expected to be able to log into my account and to fix the 2 projects that I had problems with which I am basically still just going to have to play around with to get right. This is not what I paid for. And as lovely as Paula was, she did not know and could not answer my questions on the Cannister labels.

I will be cancelling my 2 classes that I have booked for next week as I believe it would be more useful for me to continue with Jennifer Maker’s free Youtube online tutorials. Or if there are specific projects I need help with, there are a host of other free Youtube channels that offer online tutorials which you can craft along with and complete the project together.

After having attended your Artisan Chrissie’s class and now these two, I would definitely not book any more Hobbycraft Cricut classes.

Great session with Paula, really lovely way to spend an hour. learnt lots, came away with a lovey item which is now displayed at home and to top it off Christmas songs were playing in store.

Paula was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the Cricut machines. She gave an overview of what they could do and the differences between them. She explained about Cricut Design Space and showed how to use it on a laptop and phone. She then demonstrated a project using the Cricut and was happy to answer any questions we had. A good informative workshop. Thank you Paula and Hobbycraft.

I attended the Christmas Card Making workshop with 5 friends as a birthday treat and we all enjoyed it. Chloe was very good at explaining what we were going to do. She crafted along with us, demonstrating various cards, but encouraged us to make our own designs too. She was very friendly and joined in conversation with us.
The box contents were good and had plenty of elements to decorate our cards. Would recommend for all levels of ability and thought this workshop was good value for money. Thank you Chloe and Hobbycraft!

Teacher was great, very friendly, helpful, chatty and involved.
Venue okay, a bit open in the shop, would have been nice to be more private.
Products good, great value for money, well packaged, and good quality.
Overall we had a great time. Would definitely rebook.

The lady who was running it added nothing, she might as well had not been there.
So issues were one of us didn’t get what we had ordered, no comment from her. Mine had a sharp nail sticking out & some of the doors were broken asked if they had a little craft hammer - no was the answer.
No help or advice just painted hers ! Went off to buy some bits & she just cluttered off & left out bags there, lucky for us they were there when we got back. We just picked up the house & will finish at home could of done that in the first place - very disappointing

The ceramics were nice but we were expected to use the brushes and paint provided in the box. So basically, pay us £2, which is the current cost of the ceramic and you can have the privilege of painting it with your own paints in our store …
Half the paints were dried up, the brushes were bent and shed so it was nigh on impossible to paint with any accuracy. The paints only lasted half the ceramic due to the rest being dried up. The assistant, although very nice, just shrugged at this appalling offering and didnt offer more paint or brushes so we could actually paint the things properly. (I imagine she had had same feedback before snd wasn’t allowed) Very very poor offering…. And it certainly didn’t encourage me to book anything again. We left dissatisfied and disappointed

This is my third one and I wasn't Impressed. There wasn't enough decorations. In the store, there wasn't enough plugs, so we had to share glue guns and glue sticks, just made the whole experience not as nice as before.

I needed a freshener course on how to set up and use a sewing machine and the lady who took the class was fantastic. Knowledgeable and able to guide me in what I needed to know. The machine was functional and the area was nice and clean

Useful class to get me started. There were problems finding a machine which would work, but the third one did! It didn’t spoil the class and the Tutor and her colleague who was also learning about Cricut Design Space were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to see how to use vinyl and the Tutor demonstrated how to use it on the machine. Good value for money and I have a second class booked in December, to hopefully develop my skills further.

Chloe was very helpful and has great customer facing skills. When we finished our session she took time to show me the sewing range available at Hobbycraft. I found it helpful running through the pattern with someone. She’s passionate about crafting and this is key for her role

The lady (I think her name is Paula from memory) was really lovely and very informative. What brings the rating down is the set up in store. During the workshop it was in the middle of the store so customers kept interrupting to ask their own questions which didn't really make this a 1:1 workshop. It also interrupted the flow of the session so this could be improved.

My daughter (6) really enjoyed it- the teacher was lovely who was happy for me not to stay so I had some rare time to shop on my own in the shop. The materials were all high quality in individual boxes and leftovers were allowed to be taken home.

My children loved their watercolour art class. The teacher was great and showed them techniques, like how to create highlights. The kit each child got was amazing, so many art materials. It makes the workshop incredible value for money. The area the workshop was in was upstairs, where they could concentrate without distractions, and the tables were spacious. I was really pleased with the workshop and would definitely book again.
