Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I took my 8 year old daughter to learn the basics about using a sewing machine. The one on one was fantastic and the lady teaching us was brilliant answering all my questions. We came away happy knowing the basics and with a machine for us to have a go on. The class was excellent value for money and we came away with some samples to further our practice at home.

Had a fab beginners crochet class with Liz. Lovely lady and very patient. It was a small group of 5 therefore she had lots of time for all of us individually. I would recommend 100% if you’re thinking of doing this class.

Excellent Cricut Joy one to one workshop with Sarah. Lovely quiet environment so able to concentrate easily. Sarah was extremely knowledgeable and personable which made me feel relaxed and able to ask questions, no matter how simple. Lots of advice given along with tips learnt only through experience. Definitely well worth the money and would highly recommend to others.

I liked that we were only a small class of 6 and the instructor was able to support us with our endeavours. The class was 1.5 hours and this just flew by, but we learnt quite a few things that we could practice at home. I would have preferred wool that was not as thick as that provided as it was quite difficult to work with and was not able to distinguish where we needed to be with our hooks. Another great workshop with Ebony. I’ve done a few different workshops now with my grandchildren and the materials provided are always good quality and there’s plenty for everyone to choose from. The groups are small and the teacher is friendly and helpful. The children love taking home their finished artwork. Would highly recommend - such good value for money. So glad I found these workshops - we’ll be doing more next school holiday!

A great print painting workshop which my granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed and she was very proud of her finished ‘masterpiece’. The teacher (Ebony) was very good at explaining what to do and encouraging the children. The materials provided were excellent. It was definitely good value for money - would recommend.

The venue was easy to get to, with helpful markings on the floor to lead you to the workshop.
The teacher was very friendly and helpful. The workshop itself was very good but I think it was a bit more pricey than I thought. This was with the easter discount too. Although it made one little girl very happy! So maybe it was worth it.

Booked the canvas printing workshop for my daughter's birthday. A group of eight 10-12 year olds and one 6 year old. Great fun was had by all of them.
All materials were provided, the teachers explained what they needed to do in an easy to understand way.
I thought it was great value for money. Especially as all of the children got to take home their beautiful art work at the end.

Florence has a short concentration span but this was not a problem to the teacher who picked up on it but didn't make it obvious.

My kids had a great time making Easter bonnets. The staff member was fantastic, she was fun and engaged well with the kids, encouraging their creativity. The choice of materials was great and with the class price being on offer it made it especially worthwhile. Two happy children with two brilliantly bouncy, sparkly and very Eastery bonnets!

My daughter and I did the crochet course with Ebony, what a lovely, helpful, patient lady she was, we was given a bag with wool & a crochet hook & an instruction leaflet.
The only negative I have about the course is nothing to do with Ebony or the course is where it is held which is on the shop floor, customers where coming over and talking to us, I feel it would be better if a corner of the shop was cornered off.
Many thanks Ebony we will be coming back for the next course.

Sarah was amazing, there was a delay with the wifi lagging but Sarah was very apologetic and all was fine. I wished it was done on a laptop too allow me to see design space as I see it and to allow more options than on a tablet.

Teacher was very patient with my additional needs daughter, venue was not too hard to reach via transport and only complaint was the lack of variety in colours or the fact no way to transport clay was provided to everyone eg the other people got a box but there wasn't enough to go around so mine ended up squashed and I had to improvise when we got home and cut off astronauts legs

Sarah at Sheffield store was brilliant. Very friendly and helpful with the children but also not taking over their ability and letting the kids do the work themselves unless they needed help. When one little boy asked how they should look, Sarah replied with exactly how you want them to look which was lovely. We also bought the same craft equipment to bring home so we could make some more. Would definitely recommend!

Teacher was amazing. She knew her stuff and was very patient. The materials I received were the same from my previous crochet workshop but it's ok I can use them. The setting was in the middle of the store which probably would have been better in a private room as customers kept interrupting. I've learned how to read a pattern, do a magic ring and have started on a Amigurumi project.

Phoebe (8) got so much out of her very first sewing machine lesson. Liz was really good, she was patient, went over bits a few times to get the info to sink in but also let phoebe try to remember herself before giving the help.
We will be booking another workshop with liz once phoebe has mastered the first basic skills. Only downside- now phoebe thinks she is ready to make dresses.

We came today to the Christmas clay making but not very happy with the experience. We’ve paid for 2 places so they should be enough equipment for our children when we have paid. But they ran out of red and said they had no more so we couldn’t even make the Santa properly. The lady was very quiet and didn’t really speak much. She was nice but not very helpful. I asked if they had anymore red as we was missing some for both arms and the feet of the Santa and the hat! So a lot of the Santa and she was very nervous and just said we’ve ran out shelf. Nothing further to help or to go ask or look in back see if there is anymore.

Teacher, Ebony, was great - friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She explained each step clearly and helped everyone in the group individually to master the techniques. I’ve tried crocheting before using books and on line videos but have never been able to do it. After today’s class I now feel I can do the basic stitches and have something I can build on. I really enjoyed the class and would definitely recommend it to others. Good quality materials provided too.

Our teacher, Patricia was lovely. She gave us the right amount of instruction without limiting our creativity. The equipment was generous. The only down side was that it flew by so quickly.
Patricia was chatty but professional , I would attend one of her classes again.

The activity was lovely with some great decorating ideas and my daughter was happy with the result. The staff member was friendly. My suggestion would be have scissors and glue ready for each child rather than waiting. This is our second event and we would be back.

The teacher was exceptional, she was very patient and very professional, she definitely knew her skill, she gave me some very good tips

The venue was good but where we had our lesson needs to be more private as we kept getting interrupted by other people wanting to know where products were and one even wanted to know how to work a specific sewing machine, it was very off putting for me as a student and a paying customer for a one to one session
It was nice to get a discount off the course and it was the offer that got me to book the class.

I learnt how to sew in a zip into a bag and also into a garment

The thing I liked most was the lady that was my tutor, she gave me confidence to fit the zips, I’ve not dared try it until now

Sarah was amazing. She tailored the hour to suit my requirements. I did book a beginner’s as I’ve only been using my machine for a month, but I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos. Sarah soon picked up that I new a lot of what she was doing so quickly changed to a more intermediate version. The teacher, Sarah, was highly effective. She demonstrated clearly. Resources were excellent in relation to the task. The teacher’s ability to personalise was very good… I took three children aged 3, 7 and 9 and they all had exactly what they needed from the teacher. The teacher’s time management was excellent. The teacher/ child ratio was excellent. Sarah had a very good way with our children in terms of motivating, engaging and inspiring them. I was appreciative of the back up plan for our three year old in terms of alternative activities.

The teacher was great and we left with a few lovely Halloween creatures, including a ghost spider. My nephew is only 3 so found some of it tricky but Mariana suggested ways in which we could make it easier. Looking forward to the next one!

The teacher was very friendly and patient, she obviously knew her stuff. The venue was ok but there were distractions from time to time. We were surprised to be given a bag each of wool and a hook. It would have been even nicer if we had been given a choice of wool colour - grey and sage green are not my favourite colours. The wool also has a tendency to split as it isn't spun as tightly as some.
When I booked the workshop I was hoping for something that would kick start us as we are both novices and it certainly did. We learnt three stitches and got chance to practice each one thoroughly. The time flew. I am really pleased I booked it.

We had a private workshop for Halloween figures with Liz who was absolutely fantastic! My granddaughters loved the way Liz interacted with them, her patience and understanding was excellent.
The setting was perfect for the workshop we had. Materials were provided and all exactly right for our creations. We didn’t feel rushed or pressured in any way, we had lots of fun making ghosts, spiders bats & pumpkins and bought lots of the creative dough and utensils to make some at home
I was very impressed with Liz who ran our workshop today, and we are delighted to have brought home our Halloween items

Thoroughly enjoyed my session with Ebony. She helped me to understand the pattern I wanted to do. I also learnt a better way of stitching the granny squares together. Ebony at Sheffield Hobbycraft was a fab teacher! She was so patient and had all the time in the world to help us with our beginners crochet class. The materials were good and the step by step booklet was a good way to get started. We had 3 people in our class and had plenty of time to practice the different stitches. The materials were really good and the experienced seemed good value for money. My daughter made a butterfly and a bee, and she learned some good techniques for shaping the clay. My daughter says she liked mixing the colours of clay together most.

My teacher was Karen and she was brilliant! Karen was so good at explaining the techniques involved im brush lettering and gave plenty of examples. Karen was very patient and encouraging when I was having a go at the exercises. She gave me many hints and tips throughout the session and I came home and wrote them all down so I can keep referring to them.
Karen works at the store where the course was run (Meadowhall Retail Park, Sheffield) and encouraged me to bring I'm samples of brush lettering work in for her to see in the future. A very friendly touch I thought.
I think the materials provided were excellent quality and very nicely presented.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course, thought it was excellent value for money and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn brush lettering.

Ebony was a very patient and kind instructor. She helped me perfectly with everything I needed to know regarding my knitting pattern, and I left the workshop feeling much more confident to finish my project.

The venue was held in the store but was not in the least distracting as it was held in a quiet little area.

I received a free ball of wool and some knitting needles, which although I didn't really need, I still welcomed.

For a one hour one-to-one class, I thought it was reasonable value for money. I would definitely book a class again.

I attended the one to one class to learn how to change colours during knitting as it was something I hadn't done before, I was taught 2 ways and decided on the second one of cutting the wool and using it on bobbins. The teacher was great and patient, I used my own wool and continued this when I got home, within a couple of hours I had completed the star that I couldn't do when I went in. Good lesson.

Sam was really friendly and helpful. We worked through a list of questions that I had prepared and completed a few little projects. It was good to get practical experience of the things i wanted to learn and see supplies available.
Sam also gave me lots of tips on how to do things and websites that may be useful for me. She also explained how to download things into the Cricut design space area which was something i didn’t know how to do.
All in all a really useful workshop session. I booked a double session (2 hours) and would recommend this as it gave me enough time to learn and ask questions.

Tracy was a good workshop leader who had a great way with our nieces, aged 8 and 6. Tracy was able to lead and inspire our nieces; she was generous with her time and able to demonstrate skills in a way that our nieces understood.

The pre-packed resources that Tracy used were disappointing. For example, there was very little related to the theme of Easter, i. e. there was only one bunny item (sticker) and chick (sticker) between two children. Had the focus of the workshop been a spring bonnet then the resources would have been very good.

The atmosphere from the staff at Sheffield Hobbycraft is fabulous: they are so supportive and encouraging.

Sarah was a very good teacher. She was well prepared and the resources were good. Sarah demonstrated clearly: (a) what needed to be done and (b) a range of techniques to use. Sarah gave a good balance between input, independent activity and support. My great nieces liked making their paintings, especially using the different types of brushes and learning to create a marble effect. The workshop was very good value for money.

This was an excellent workshop in every way. The teacher was knowledgeable, clear and highly interactive with our nieces. The resources were appropriate to need and purpose with a very good range of choice. The teacher was able to personalise her teaching to different skills, learning needs and preferences. The atmosphere was highly encouraging, with passing staff chatting to our and commenting to them on their cards. Three different types of card were modelled by the teacher; two were made by our nieces with materials given to finish the third card.

Very useful workshop. I am wanting to buy a Cricut machine but wasn’t really sure which would be most suitable for my needs. I was given lots of useful tips, was able to use a machine myself with friendly and helpful guidance. Once I decide which machine to buy I will come back for a further workshop specific to that machine. It was great that the class is one to one so you can ask as many questions as you like as you go along. Absolutely no sales pressure either which was a refreshing change but I was advised on prices and all the optional extras in store to look at.

The teacher was great, had great ideas and took us through step by step. Really happy with the session itself and it made a great Christmas gift for my sister in law.
However when we arrived, one of the Hobby craft staff members was quite unhelpful in telling us where to go ("just there at the back of the shop") and when we asked again we were told that they didn't have us booked in and the same staff member asked if I had actually booked the tickets or had I just taken a screenshot of the course. I had actually booked a few weeks in advance and was left feeling very embarrassed and angry, especially as this was a gift for my sister in law. When I showed her my email confirmation, she told me "oh, it has just come through on the system" and she would find a craft person to assist us. The session started 15mins late, but in fairness the teacher gave us extra time.

Very good tuition, the tutor has great knowledge, very helpful and expanded her teaching to add if I have any problems she will help again should I need advice etc, by popping back into the shop, great service, shop warm, as it happened I was the only one in the lesson so was one to one, on her advice and tuition I purchased a circuit top model the circuit maker 3 so I’m hoping I can then do some online courses with hobby craft and gain more experience to hopefully help to top up our pensions by making crafts to sell on on our craft stall tables and the craft fairs we sell at, I have a friend who has one too and will also help me out with the sorts of crafts she makes and sells with a a lower model of the circuit range
So a very informative lesson and greatly appreciated

A great little session with a lovely teacher who was very helpful to all the kids. We were given a large sized pumpkin model and a huge choice of tissue papers for glueing. Extra materials such as googly eyes and glitter were also provided and my daughter came away with a fantastic looking paper mache pumpkin! We would definitely recommend these craft sessions.

We loved it!
I did this class for my daughter who’s just turned 4 and loves crafty things. It was a little hard for her at first but once she got the hang of it she loved it.
Tracey was a lovely teacher who was able to guide us to the best techniques to use to get the best finish on our clay ghosts.
This kept my daughter entertained for the full hour and she hasnt stopped talking about it to my husband and relatives when we got home.
I would definitely do this again and encourage others with creative kids to give these works shops a go!
I’ll even be looking at the adult ones too.
Can’t wait for the next one.

Attended a really enjoyable beginners crochet workshop with my 13 year old daughter. Neither of us had crocheted before.

We received a box with wool, crochet hook and instructions to get us started.
We achieved a small piece of crochet in class.
There were only 4 of us on the group which was a good size.
Enjoyed the workshop and would recommend to others.

We attended the pumpkin papier-mâché workshop with my 6 year old and a friends little one. We got there and were warmly greeted, Sarah was leading the session and she was super helpful, very friendly and really encouraging!
The kids made orange and blue pumpkins respectively and really enjoyed the clear instructions and the step-by-step little tasks to get it finished and made.
Great session really enjoyed by the kids and great to see as an adult.

Ebony our instructor was very good with my grandchild ( 8yrs and 3yrs) and encouraged them to work independently but assisted when needed. There was plenty of materials provided for them to choose from. Everything was ready on our arrival and the children made the most of the time allowed. I feel my money was well spent and it was definitely Good value.

The class really opened my mind to the possibilities with the machine. The instructor Sarah clearly explained the app and How to use the machine. She also went into great depth exposing the different types of vinyls and how they work with different materials. She adapted the class so it focused on what I would be using the machine for and gave some great insights into how I could use it to improve my work. It was genuinely great value for money and we learned a lot. Would highly recommend this class for both those just getting started and also people who have some experience.

I felt a bit awkward where the workshop was actually held in an aisle with other customers trying to walk past and ask questions. To say it was the first time the lady had taken a workshop she did well I only had a small problem that was rectified quickly the other two ladies had problems that took longer to sort out the sewing machine developed a problem when one of the other ladies had a try and put her off a bit the material used was freely available when I asked questions or the other ladies did they were answered promptly by the ladies own knowledge are a quick check in instructions booklet for the machine for the correct terminology of equipment used as in darning plate

I was able to tell her how to do things. I am a beginner but self taught and very keen to progress. I felt as though I did not get good value for money. I really enjoyed the Christmas cloche making course. Materials were provided with plenty of left over snow and moss to make more at home. Tuition was very basic but the teacher was really lovely and made us feel at ease. We were sat at a table at the back of the store which was fine however we did find that other customers kept interrupting to ask the teacher where to find products in store! Perhaps this could be prevented by having a sign up advising customers that a class is in progress and not to interrupt. I haven’t marked down for this as to be honest I thought it was fairly obvious that we were busy and shouldn’t be interrupted so definitely a fault of other customers and not hobby craft. We were stopped a few times to ask what we were doing which I didn’t mind at all as it obviously inspired others to want to give it a go themselves. All in all my mum and I have a lovely afternoon and had a go at something we’d never tried before for a reasonable price. Finally on another point; it’s great that you get a glue gun included in the price you pay if you don’t already have one however if I were to go and do another course I would get another glue gun which seems pointless, is it possible to have the option to have something else instead of the glue gun? Or pay a slightly cheaper price for the course if you do t need it?

My little girl enjoyed her painting session very much, the teacher was very friendly, and we bought lots of crafts afterwards to do at home for the rest of half term.

I was pleasantly surprised as I thought it was for the ink pens and it was demonstrating the ink sheets which was much better as I wasn’t aware of them.

The women taking the class was lovely but I felt it wasn’t like advertised, as it said they would demonstrate different things ie coasters and they didn’t, so didn’t learn what we went for

I did the Autumn Wreath making class in Sheffield this morning. The venue was great and the teacher was lovely. She gave us lots of tips and ideas. Not just about wreath making but other crafts too. We were provided with plenty of high quality materials. I can't wait to display it at home.

I bought this as a birthday present for myself and two adult daughters to do together and in time to have out at Christmas. We had a fantastic time and the workshop with the various craft equipment was well worth the price. We did this on a Saturday morning at Meadowhall, Sheffield and Jane, the lady who ran the workshop was absolutely brilliant, we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. There were only the three of us in the workshop but several people stopped to see what we were doing. We will definitely be looking to see what we can do next and are also looking forwards to some non-Christmas workshops early next year.
Thank you Hobbycraft and a huge thank you to Jane, you made three crafters very happy.

The tutor was very informative and explained things really well in a short time on complex equipment. I was hoping that we would come away with something if only a voucher to spend in store which I did purchase an item which was demonstrated to us.

Class was interesting and informative. The venue was clean and organised even though it was in the middle of the shop floor.
The materials came all boxed up and wrapped like Christmas presents which was amusing and created a talking point with the other participants.
Jayne was very helpful and informative throughout the workshop.

Brilliant class, and Sarah was fantastic. Very tricky for my daughter even though she's an experienced crafter as am I. The age range should be aimed at older teens and adults as some steps are very complicated.

The teacher was fantastic and I loved the materials given to me as part of the lesson.

Before I started I didn't think I would enjoy it because of the way my mum tried to teach me and I didn't like crocheting that much anyway. This lesson made a huge difference and I'm working on a project. I've learned the basics I need to carry on by myself.

Really enjoyed the one to one cricut workshop this morning, Sarah was very patient with me as I'm a total novice! The set up was at the back of the shop which was good, the only downside was that people who were shopping were able to stand and listen and when you've paid for a one to one that's exactly what you want. Overall though have no complaints,came away feeling a bit more confident and knowing that I can go anytime if I have any problems

We visited the Sheffield store and my 2 children had an excellent time taking part in the class. Sarah spent time showing the children step by step how to achieve the best results. The pack we received had lots of great products in, items to use during the session and items to take home so the children could continue to paint. They had a lovely time. Highly recommend booking a session!
