Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Loved this, the staff member went at a good speed for kids. Its given us some ideas on what to make with our clay at home. I would suggest that the class length was too short as we overran by about 20 mins. But we loved it!

I recently bought an up grade on my sewing machine from Hobbycraft and booked myself onto a one to one workshop.

Sally, my tutor was extremely helpful and knowledgable. She helped me find my way around my new machine. I throughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend buying a workshop when you buy/upgrade your machine even if it is a refresher.

Clay rainbow session at Milton Keynes Hobbycraft - My daughter was the only child attending the session. There were 2 members of staff running the session - Carol and Lily. Both staff were friendly and made my daughter feel at ease. The materials provided were exactly as described/shown in photos before we attended the session. The session was £5 for half an hour which I would say is good value. My daughter enjoyed the session and was pleased with her rainbow.

Sue had done some excellent research on You Tube before my class where I had indicated I wanted to do some free motion embroidery. She talked me through the steps, demonstrated on the machine and then let me try. We shared ideas about mixed media projects. I feel very confident to try it out at home.

I had a sewing one to one with Susan (nanny) what a lovely lady. I wasn’t sure what sewing machine to buy or if indeed I want one. After showing me the machines and having a go at the different things the machine can do, I have made up my mind that I will definitely be buying a machine. Susan had a great wealth of knowledge that’s she is happy to pass on so thank you Susan for your patience, I’m sure I will be back for some advice on some of the projects I have planned.

This was an excellent 90 minutes in the company of Helen who gave clear demonstration and explanation in a very friendly way. I learned more here than in months if struggling with instruction books.
All materials were provided with an element of choice. Those left over were given to us to take home.
My only regret us that I didn't do this well before now.

My one-on-one Cricut session with Sue was extremely useful.
Having asked me how I thought I would be using a Cricut, Sue talked me through the features of the various models. Sue then demonstrated the Cricut Explore 3 by producing a sentiment, such as I might want to produce for cardmaking. Before I purchase a Cricut, I now need to do some more research on YouTube to figure out the various ways in which I could use a Cricut for both cardmaking and scrapbooking. The experience was fabulous value for money.

Nice, simple activity (which was what I was looking for) run by a lovely member of staff, Sue, who came up with other ideas to help personalise wrapping. The sheets to copy were great but given the time of year a few more Christmassy ones would have been nice (snowman, snowflakes, robins etc)
Would have been helpful to have had the option to buy a pen to take home to finish the bags - unfortunately the store had sold out.

I attended the Christmas Decorations class with my kids. The teacher Carol was brilliant, she gave very clear steps and helped on some trickier steps. The materials were good. The end projects turned out lovely. However, 30 minutes was not enough time and did feel a bit rushed. But overall we were happy with the class. Thank you.

My session was very informative and extremely helpful. I have never used a sewing machine before and my partner had purchased one for me from your store, so I needed to, not only be shown how to operate this particular machine, but to be shown how to use a sewing machine from scratch. Sue was an extremely lovely and patient instructor. She put me at ease and helped give me the confidence to start using my machine. I’m considering booking another session with her.

Tried a few times to crochet but never progressed further than chain. Today I managed to learn two stitches and turn my work so very impressed and will continue to practice at home. Love that we were allowed to take some wool home and the crochet hook- thank you

What a joy to make a wind chime with Nanny Sue today. My daughter learns and develops her craft skills a lot in non competitive, creative environment. My Granddaughter attended a craft session today at hobby craft Milton Keynes. The tutor “Nanny Sue” was well prepared for the class and had a lovely way with the children. We had a fantastic time and everyone was super helpful and accommodating for my granddaughter who has cerebral palsy. We had a private lesson with Nanny Sue who taught us different poring techniques and talked through different options/choices for decorating our pieces.
The kit you get with the course is incredible. We made a canvas and 4 coasters and still have lots of paint left for new projects at home.

An excellent knitting workshop . Helen is very knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. She has great patience and explains things in an easily understandable way. I had specific sections that I needed advice on and these were covered comprehensively. I shall enjoy making up garments and making buttonholes now rather than dreading them.
I highly recommend the one to one workshop to everyone that has that worrying question that your method could be improved but you don't know how.
The workshop was held in the knitting section of the shop - this was friendly and a very suitable area. It was difficult at times as the sun was shining directly through the roof making it hot and bright - perhaps a cover/blind may be possible?
I look forward to the knit and natter groups that were mentioned to meet other knitters.

I think it was a difficult workshop for the tutor to pitch as I wanted an overview rather than specific advice as I was trying to ensure that the cricut I purchased was the correct one.
The tutor was absolutely lovely clearly very skilled with lots of experience and patient and was very generous with her time.
It was probably a little too much information but that’s down to me having never used the machine.
I think it would have been better for me to have had some advice about purchase, practised at home and then come to the workshop with particular projects in mind.

Although the workshop was only an hour, I didn’t feel rushed at all and we even went over by a little just so we could cover all the things I had to ask. So after making the second visit to demo the glow forge this time booking a demo and driving to Milton Keynes it couldn’t of been a bigger disappointment, after seeing the videos of what it could do me and my wife couldn’t wait to see it working.
The woman doing the demo talked a good talk but when it came to programming and putting the images on the board that’s when the problem started the first on it didn’t seem to mark it much and then she asked if it was ok to do again on the other side which we was happy to do. After seeing her having problems programming the design setting again she said it’s ready, this time it went to drop and was smoking and it ruined the design again. She said sorry so many times and wanted to try make it right but we was there for 40min now for a 20min demo. So then we said we have seen enough and the £7k will be staying in our bank.
When we got home my wife pulled the tape off the board and it didn’t even mark the wood board. The point of me writing this review is in hope that hobby craft give more training to the people doing demos

We really enjoyed the ghosts and bats clay session run by Nanny Sue! She was great at explaining and demonstrating techniques on how to manipulate the clay. She showed us what we could achieve just by using our hands and a pencil, showing you don't always need fancy tools to be creative. All the children were engaged in the activity and were proud of what they had made. Thank you for another great session, we hope there will be Xmas sessions coming up soon!

Sue was lovely, we have never done a work shop with HC or Sue before but she’s helped us on the shop before and is always so lovely and helpful. Absolute natural with the children, especially patient with my 6 year old Autistic son. Would come back again. Was knowledgeable about what stock was available and were it was in the store so we could buy our own pipe cleaners and beads. Thank you Sue. You are great at what you do. Never change!

The pumpkin mache session was led by Nanny Sue who my kids love. She is great with the kids and provides lots of creative ideas and methods. The materials provided are good quality. The small sized group of 5 children is perfect. Both my 3 and 7 year old (and grown up!) enjoyed this activity. Good value for money for the 1hr session. We have been to a few sessions at Hobbycraft and look forward to returning to do more classes in the future.

I had a lovely time making my Halloween themed wreath. The teacher, Anita, was just the right amount of helpful. The wreath looks great in my kitchen. I'll pack it away in the box the materials came in to bring out again each year.

My daughter and I had a private pumpkin paper mache class. It was fab. Kim made us feel at ease and showed us how to do it. She gave us some ideas on how to decorate the pumpkin. Kim was chatting to us throughout and the time went so fast. We completed the pumpkin and took it home. The cost of the class was so reasonable we will definately be booking more classes in the future.

Anita was extremely helpful but as I had gone specifically to find out about the Cricut expressions machine that had been donated from a will, she had no knowledge of the old but unused machine that I had. She helped as much as possible and showed me the new cricut possibilities.
On the whole I think ad very disappointed as I had given the type of machine that I had when applying for help

Nanny Sue was the best teacher ever! The activity was fun for children and adults alike. Best bit for me was my son has sensory issues where he doesn't like to touch anything slimy, sticky, wet etc but this activity let us play with the air dry clay without having to spend a lot of money buying it and then never use it. My son loves the air dry clay! Its cheap too, at £1 a pack with lots of different colours to choose from. Will definitely be booking more courses!

What a fantastic workshop. Our teacher, Lucas, was welcoming, friendly and provided professional instruction. The class was a good size and it was easy to do. We all had so much fun and I’ve learned that we can use tissue paper on mache and not just decopatch paper! I thoroughly recommend this for everyone to do, we had a great time.

Lovely personable teacher who demonstrated and explained techniques very well and obviously knew her subject. She was happy to allow the student to express themselves and experiment whilst explaining about the medium used and gone to create different effects.

Really enjoyed the workshop practicing lettering the alphabet. Was provided with good quality materials (to take away) and the tutorial leader was very pleasant and chatty.
I would have liked to learn more technique and practice more words/joining letters than the workshop offered, but it was a really pleasant hour that passed quickly and I enjoyed having the opportunity to practice a skill I’m just learning.

Fantastic idea cant believe i didnt know they did things like this before! Lots of colours to choose from, the slot was half an hour which i must have misread on booking though as i thought it was a 2 hour thing, but Mia got plenty done in that time and was excited to do her second coat at home!

Amazing how easy it was to make a picture of patterns so impressive and colourful. The kit is really good too, lots of paint to carry on doing more at home, good value for money. I arrived a bit early but Hobbycraft staff made me welcome and I was given a beautifully packed box of the items I needed for the class. This includes all wool, needles and instructions. My teacher arrived on time and after a chat about previous experience we got on making my first triangle of my bunting. She was very patient and guided me through the steps and was on hand to correct any mistakes. I now feel quite confident to carry on making my bunting on my own. An excellent hour and half. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately though, the kids and I struggled to keep up with her instructions and she told us them one straight after the other; as opposed to giving one instruction and making sure everyone understood and gave them a chance to actually carry out the action before moving onto the next-step.

This was a great workshop for my 4 year old Grandaughter.
Sue the teacher was lovely and I thought it was great value for money .
There were plenty of materials to decorate the Easter hat ,and Iris thoroughly enjoyed herself.
There was plenty of room as there were only 5 children which gave them plenty of room and Sue could help where necessary.

Lucas was a great teacher with a sense of fun and a great deal of patience.

As lifelong knitters we initially struggled with the basics of crochet (even casting on was a challenge) but following this workshop our crochet bunting is progressing nicely.

The materials provided were good quality and the workshop was excellent value for money.

The reason I booked onto this workshop, which is the second one I have done - the first being at a different store, Beginners Guide to Cricut Maker 3 was to learn more about what it could do before actually purchasing the machine as it is a big investment. Sue was very knowledgeable and I was lucky to be the only person booked on the course so she could concentrate on what I wanted to know. She showed me on the instore iPad various things you can do in Design Space. There are some limitations on what can be done instore but that is understandable. I was able to pick her brains and as well as getting an overview of Design Space got some great tips on people to look up on the internet and the key tools you need to get started as it would be easy to to go mad and buy things you don't really need for what you are using the machine for. I won't remember how to do everything she showed me but I will remember what can be done. I am looking forward to my third workshop early next month to learn a bit more, again in a different store - only because the workshops are booked and it makes sense to do the workshops in a certain order.

I had a thoroughly super time with Sue who took the class on the Cricut Joy. This took place in the store in a light and airy environment with all tools and equipment being provided for the projects that we did. The course was excellent value for money and the hour went far too quick for me! I could have been there all afternoon as I learnt many tips and ways to use the Cricut Joy that I didn't know where there. Sue was very knowledgeable in all aspects and answered all my questions that I had. Highly recommend the class.

Anita is great! Explained well - brief and clearhardly asked questions as she mentioned it already.
would recommend to friends to attend workshop too :-)
the only downside is the time. its is too short to know and demonstrate everything about cricut and also the availability of the materials to be used. like no balloon pump for the balloon to inflate in order to demonstrate how to transfer the vinyl in the balloon.

The begginers class for crochet was brilliant. I had never crocheted before and walked away knowing everything I needed to. Anita was so patient and an amazing instructor. There were only two of us and literally had one on one support. The product bundle we got included in the price was full of everything we needed and with the amount of yarn provided we could make the project again and again. Really worth it and highly recommended

Had a fab time. Thought I'd try something new, ended up being the only person doing the class which worked in my favour as had one on one tutorial with the lovely Sue. Venue was in store, nice and light and airy, plenty of room. Got a box with all my goodies in it for the class. Started off by having a chat on what it was all about, techniques for doing it, what to expect etc. A really good hour and a half class, but don't expect to be a whizz by the time you finish. Not the easiest, take your time. I'm to finish off my picture now at home but that's all good as I know what I've got to do now. I really enjoyed it.

Anita was my teacher and she was very helpful, knowledgeable and great at explaining the differences between using Iron-on and infusibles. She even stayed calm when a mechanical issue meant we had to swap to a different Cricut.! I felt confident to try things at home afterwards. And have now made several items. Many thanks.

Was disappointed and felt the kit wasn't value for money to the level I usually expect from Hobbycraft. This was my first workshop in store and I've been a customer since the Watford store first opened. There weren't any examples to look at, just picture on box. Demonstrator was very polite, friendly and helpful despite challenges with equipment. A group of six had to share 3 electrical sockets between them, wasn't able to completely finish the wreath in time allocated. No clear signage on arrival in store to show where the workshop area was located.

I did not find the class beneficial. I could have bought the kit and done it at home.
The tutor was more supervisor than a teacher. She spent most of the hour talking about her own craft hobbies and family. She was a little condescending with the children.

No instruction/tuition just given the box and that was it. Not enough electrical points to plug in 6 glue guns so couldn't all make at the same time. Never again will I buy a workshop. £35 each for what amounted to £15 - appalling

The lady taking the class was lovely. Very friendly and informative. The store was busy as therefore it was very noisy and sometimes prevented me being able to hear what was being said. Sadly the store staff let's the course down by not being aware of the items that may be recommended on the course. When I enquired about alphabet stamps I was told they don't do them. However, when I got home I found the item online.

- Venue a little messy (understandably due to other crafts) and open but due to the time I went it wasn't too bad

I assumed that the lady in Charon the class would know how to use the pens. She was lovely but didn’t know how to use the brush pens but we learnt together, in fact I was giving her advice. £25 too expensive and the box not supplied

Sally (tutor) was really good and patient. She had prepared some notes for me before the class which I could take away with me which were really helpful. She gave me different ideas on how to sew jersey material (which was my main reason for booking the session) and also gave me some good tips on using my sewing machine. The only problem was that the session was held in an open part of the store with background music which was difficult for me as I have a hearing impairment but Sally asked for the music to be turned off which helped a lot.

I had a cricut one to one session and it was worth every penny and more!. I am a complete beginner and was brought a cricut maker as a gift and it was so useful to go along and get a one on one guide on how to use it , all the projects you can do, information on all the different materials , a walk through of the cricut app/software, along with expert advice and tips and someone to answer my millions of questions. My teacher was sue in the Milton Keynes branch and she was fantastic with so much knowledge and experience. I came away extremely happy and a lot more confident using my cricut with so many crafty ideas. I would highly recommend

I was met by Sue at Milton Keynes branch this morning, she does not usually take the course but as she has a Circut herself she was very knowledgeable and explained so much to me for a person that knew nothing at this time of how the machines worked or what you could actually do with them fully. Sue fully explained how they work different models available, all additional products. I came away with information for research but also wanting one, but I will need to wait a little while to save up
