Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

This was our first intro session for our children aged 6 and 8. Kyle the teacher was great with the kids and very patient and easy going, dry informative and encouraging and just what we needed to help them engage well in the workshop. The kids also liked the materials supplied, thank you.

Jill was lovely, very helpful, patient and kind.
As we turned up at the wrong store she saw our grandchildren disappointed faces and fitted them in at Droitwich.
They loved the workshop.
Only crit, it could have been a bit longer as they didn't have time to finish.

My granddaughter loved making the Easter animals. The instructor was very friendly and helpful. It was easy to make the models look just like the pictures with the clear instructions. We are looking forward to doing more workshops in the future.

- I wanted to understand how to use my new Cricut Maker 3.
- My teacher was excellent and gave me the confidence I needed to start using my equipment.
- The venue was fine.
- My teacher was able to show me what materials and tools I would need to access for future projects. I liked and got excited with what I saw.
- I learnt to use the canvas.
- I thought it was good value for money although I would say it would be nice to have a little more time to get to practice what you have been taught and ask questions whilst onsite.
- Seeing the capabilities of my machine.

Learnt to do a basic crotchet stitch.

Teacher Chloe at the Merry Hill store was fabulous and so patient, I was all fingers and thumbs lol. The venue was good, I did the beginners crochet which taught the foundations of crochet like how to hold the wool, tension on the stitches and how to do chain stitch. We got to choose 2 balls of wool and were given a crochet hook and some instructions to take away. A lovely 90 minutes spent.

Took our 3 year old to this today. Wonderful set up, friendly staff great environment to let kids flourish

Faith was excellent in helping the little one settle and I apologise for her trying to steal the Winnie the Pooh key ring on multiple occasions haha
She also went over and above to get the painting dry so we could transport home

My two daughters aged 7 and 9 enjoyed the clay bead rainbow making workshop. Price for the workshop was reasonable and there was a good selection of beads. Teacher was friendly and patient with the children.

Just to say a huge thank you to Lyn for a great class, really felt at ease when I arrived and she was very patient and clear with her teaching. I was able to have a play, learning the different types of stitching and setting up the machine for the first time! Overall it’s a 10/10 for me Lyn was so lovely and gave me lots of valuable tips for needles and equipment to use for certain projects. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to come again. If you’re new to sewing and want a beginner’s session this is the place to be. Loved it Now I’m off to practice lol

Booked a one on one sewing lesson at Merryhill branch for my daughter who’s never sewn before but is keen to get into it. Kyle was her teacher & he was great! Kirsty is a lovely person who put us both at ease. She provided all the equipment and explained how to do it very clear. The thing we were disappointed with was the fact it was set in the middle of the store, in the middle of 2 aisles, so people were passing either side of us whilst trying to move around. Children wanted to have a go and wouldn't move. Even if we would have been put up a corner, we probably wouldn't have been knocked so much. We loved our box of paints though

We did think it would be a separate room, not in the middle of a shop with people wanting to get through either side. The tuter was Kirsty. Lovely, enthusiastic and encouraging. We have yet to fetch them .

I do wish we were a bit more private. We had children wanting to join in and poke.

I had Kyle do my sewing workshop and I loved it! He had taken note of what I’d put on the booking form and prepared the sewing machine that I intended to buy so I could learn using that specific one. I learned how to thread the machine and practice a basic stitch (I was 10 minutes late so had a little less time understandably). Kyle supported me with my first project (taking up my sons nativity costume) and assured me that if I had any issues I could return to the store and he could help me! The whole workshop had a lovely relaxed vibe and he was professional but very friendly! Would absolutely recommend Kyle and I wouldn’t hesitate to book in again. I was assisted with purchasing my new sewing machine and all the other bits I would need to get started! I left feeling confident and excited! Thank you

Thoroughly enjoyed the acrylic paint pouring class. Kirsty our teacher was fun and very helpful. She provided all the equipment we needed and answered all our questions about the task and knowing what to do if we wanted to try again to make more.
The workshop is great value for money and I cant wait to use the kit we got to take home.

Really enjoyed this workshop. It was a gift for my friend for their birthday, so we attended this workshop together. We both had a lovely time. The workshop host, Kirsty, was brilliant - funny, helpful and enthusiastic, with a naturally lovely and bubbly personality. Massive thank you to Kirsty for holding the workshop and making it a lovely experience. She is a credit to Hobbycraft.

Millie was a very friendly and cheerful teacher. she explained the process well, clearly and with patience. She encouraged independence but was on hand to help to prevent failure. The place was in an aisle in the store, which blocked other shoppers passage. The products used were great and plentiful. It was a good 30 minutes session and my granddaughter was delighted with her Christmas decorations that she made. It was good value for money and a lot of fun too as we tried products that we hadnot used before

As I was short of time I only watched the demo and planned to marble the baubles when I got home. Since I booked more dates have been added, any of which would have suited me better. To add insult to injury there has also been a reduction in price.
I accept that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Chlie was pleasant and friendly. I was surprised that there was another participant in the private class I had paid for. The matetials given were lovely. It would have been better were Chlie to have been more interactive, giving instructions on how to physically put the wreath together. Overall, not too bad and value for money. Just remember private does not mean exclusive.

Hi I’ve purchased a cricut joy and still don’t have a clue on how to use it.
I paid £16 last month to have 121 training however I’m disappointed as I didn’t learn anything.

For 1:1 training I would expect more confidence and preparation from the trainer. The rota meant that trainer had just started her shift and was not set up when I arrived - then took 10 mins to find all the cables needed to connect the maker 3. Not her fault but could have been set up by staff member on duty earlier?
Chloe was nice enough however but I found I probably knew a lot of the basics. Not sure it was entirely value for money.

Our teacher, Kat, was fantastic! she was engaging, fun and patient and made sure we all knew what we were doing! She took the time to work with each of us to make sure we came away with lovely wreaths and gave lots of ideas and suggestions to help our designs. The evening was a birthday treat for my 93 yr old gran and Kat was brilliant at helping her with her project- she’s going to be whizz with a glue gun now

On Friday 8th September Mom & I attended a workshop at Hobbycraft Merry Hill to understand our Cricut Machine/Design space
Chloe was excellent, she started with the basics we needed to know, then demonstrated how to use Design space simply and in a way we could understand. She was patient, knowledgable and went at our pace. She gave us lots of tips. Chloe gave us written instructions that we could use when we were using our Cricut machine in our own time.
We can highly recommend attending a workshop with Chloe.

My 3yr old really enjoyed his craft session. He loved choosing his own paint colours and using the variety of brushes and sponges to create his masterpiece. He's also very excited to peel the masking tape off to reveal his letter.
Cat the teacher was really friendly and chatty during the session and went above and beyond to ensure he had a fun time.

Excellent workshop, the teacher was very informative, didn't rush, gave useful advise and recommendations to using the cricut machine efficiently. Listened to what I wanted in terms of using a circuit.

Will be looking to attend more workshops, and look into the purchasing the right cricut for my projects.

My teacher Lyn was very friendly and very knowledgeable , she made everything look so easy . Lyn gave me some great advice, and tips for beginner projects. She also showed me where I had gone wrong with the iron on project I tried. It was a fab lesson, I really enjoyed it and

Nice and simple craft but with a good product at the end. My 3yo started to lose a bit of focus towards the end of the threading (but to be fair to him, threading takes a lot of effort and he had to do it 120 times) but he got there with some help!

Class of 5, we learnt the basics of crochet and how to start a granny square. Hook and 2 balls of wool, own choice of colour, were included. I would advise choosing light colours, one of mine was navy and it's hard to see your stitches! Showed how to hold the hook and the wool, slip stitch, chain & double. Teacher was very patient and helped individuals independently. Always difficult to move forward when learners pick things up at a different pace, would have been useful to have a simple pattern to follow. The workshop was enjoyable and a good starting point to practice.

My teacher was called Kirsty she was Brilliant, there was just me, the venue was in the middle of the Store (Merry Hill), All items were supplied, I decorated some Coasters, which had to stay there until they were dry, which apparently takes 2 to 3 days, they will then box them up for me and I can go down in a few days to pick them up, also I was given a Starter Kit with everything in it to start painting at home, the 1 Hour was really worth it and I will definitely Recommend it to my Friends and Family, Kirsty was also extremely patient with me, she was funny, polite and just a Really nice Young Lady to meet.

I marked okay, but when I arrived at Hobbycraft, there was no one available to do the workshop. The staff at the Merry Hill shop were very apologetic and offered a refund, but I opted for another booking, which hopefully will go ahead.
I would add, all the staff I have dealt with at various times, have been most helpful.
I would have appreciated a call to cancel and save my journey.

First a massive thank you to Alex, who noticed my booking and remembered my children. She saw we were booked on a day that Millie wasn’t in. My children are neurodivergent and have a great bond with Millie, so she offered to change it to a day Millie would be available. I really appreciated this and so grateful that they thought of them in this way.
My kids had a great time with Millie again. They loved the Hama beads so much we had to buy a huge pack to take home and they’ve been at them making loads more things they can’t wait to show Millie.
Honestly I cannot fault the staff at the Merry Hill store. Everyone is friendly and helpful and Millie is so loved by my children.

LOVED IT!
My teacher was Kyle, and they were amazing! Really understanding with where I was skillwise and talked me through the basics step by step which I managed to pick up easily
because they let me watch then try.
The whole team seems to have a great relationship with each other and are all so knowledgeable, the materials and set up for the lesson was great too. I recommend this for anyone who wants an insight into sewing with a machine.

Excellent workshop. We had plenty of materials and were also given Easter chocs! The Hobbycraft teacher was Cat and she was very welcoming and knowledgeable, helping with ideas. Good value for money. We had not done this type of craft before but thoroughly enjoyed it and were very pleased with our wreaths. Came away with enough materials left to make another project.

If there had been more than two of us it would have been very cramped in the middle of the store.

Purchased sewing machine from HobbyCraft for my 8yr old granddaughter for Christmas and booked her a beginner lesson. Advised didn’t need to bring own sewing machine to the lesson. Arrived today, sat down for lesson and was advised that it couldn’t take place as all the machines like my granddaughter’s had been sold and they didn’t have one for her to use. Obviously one devastated 8 year old, although lesson rebooked for next week. Model of machine detailed on booking form so had we been advised that they hadn’t got one to use, we could have taken our own. Not very good organisation, although staff very apologetic, one very upset granddaughter, hopefully next week will be better.

This is the first workshop that I’ve attended and I really enjoyed it. Katherine was a great teacher, encouraging us to progress. The hour flew by but Kat didn’t hurry us to leave. I found the brush strokes quite difficult to master as I’m left handed but have since been practising at home. I think the course is good value as I costed the materials and they are worth £22.50. Would definitely recommend.

This was a wonderful introduction to both Hobbycrafts instore classes and brush lettering. Our teacher was lovely and gave us lots of tips as well as having patience with an absolute beginner like myself! The materials are great value and to buy on their own would have cost a lot more than the class price. Although the class is placed within the store aisles, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed and there were no distractions. I now feel confident that I can use my new found skill to personalise my own gifts. If you are unsure about trying this class, I would happily recommend it.

We do love these sessions, however the paper mache ones are always a bit tricky as there’s not enough time to allow anything to dry. The staff are always scrambling for ideas on how to take the creations home as nothing is provided. A slightly longer time slot and boxes or something for the creations would be great.

The tutor was really good as she explained so good that I picked up right away on how to use the joy cricut machine. The venue could have been in a quite room so there is no distraction. But otherwise it was great. I wish it was a bit cheaper though the session. So if I ever needed I could have booked another one to one. I made my first card as soon as I got back. Messed up on the first one. But second one I was very impressed with myself. I'm glad I had the session. Was worth the time.

The session was in the shop, which was a nightmare because my child wouldn’t stop going after items he wanted off t he shelf. If it have been in a separate room we might have got somewhere. If I had known it wasn’t in a separate room I wouldn’t have booked it. The people hosting the session were nice and even said he could choose a number instead of an animal to decorate if that’s what he likes. The other parents were really vile and gave no eye contact and had this look on their face like we were ruining their session.

Lovely packs made for you which included all the materials needed, also seen the other packs for other courses. Step by step was taught what and how to punch needle. All questions were answered, this is the opportunity to ask and learn if by chance you make a mistake or the loops are not the same, all techniques and tips were given by Kirsty.

Great value for money. Member of staff, as always, were polite and friendly. I wish more choice of colours were available other than those that came in the box….but the lady did provide a mixing pallet. Children had great fun and both had a balloon each to take home along with their finished ceramic.

This was a lovely workshop, the teacher for the workshop was lovely and kind. The glue in the puppet pack wasn't the best for the puppet making as it didn't stick the stuff together. However the teacher got a tacky glue for us to use. This glue didn't work best either for the fabrics as in the pictures shown on the puppet pack, you can clearly see that it has been stitched not glued.

A lovely atmosphere with Kat who puts you at ease immediately. Easy to get to venue. Resources to take away so that you can use straightaway. One factor to consider- £25 is a little steep for this workshop so maybe £15-£20 is much more affordable and realistic. Thank you and I will be looking for other workshops to attend.

The children did a canvas painting class, I thought it was a class where you will be given a plain canvas and shown some examples or styles to try painting, instead there was a printed picture on it and using pen paint to paint it which didnt feel like a painting class.

Very good after a shaky start! Our teacher Catherine, was wonderful, so patient and helpful especially as making the magic ring was far from easy. It seemed somewhat hard for a beginner but got there! Loved the materials etc in the kit. Very good value session.

I really enjoyed this course. The wool, hook ,needles and pattern were Included in the price. Katherine was a great tutor. Very friendly and patient. I learnt a lot of different stitches and feel that the course has helped me have a greater understanding of crotchet. I do think that a follow up course(s) would be really useful to cement what we learned .

Only mastered 2 stitches.

Nice time to attend a workshop as the shop was calm and the staff where mellow. The workshop itself was very helpful in answering the query's I had and giving us a demo on how the software worked with the machine. I got to ask all the questions I needed to and find all the staff at Merry Hill branch always very helpful.

My 11 year old had a sewing machine for Christmas and has never used one before. This lesson was great as instructor learnt her how to set machine up, what all the buttons were for, how to thread machine and she also provided material and went through practice stitching. Lesson lasted full hour and they made sure the machine used was the same as my daughters.
Will definitely book more in the future.

The teacher was lovely - thrown in at the last minute on a machine she hadn’t been on before, but she was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my queries. She made my sewing machine seem way less scary and I’m looking forward to going home and trying out everything I’ve learned today.

Would’ve been practical to have a shopping bag for the big boxes or a bag to put the tools in so not to carry about a huge box.
I really enjoyed the Christmas music playing in the store and I also bought a few things upon the teacher’s recommendation to paint my clay stars.

The kit however who designed it didn’t think it through. The plastic baubles are useless as you can’t stick anything in them. Ended up with 3 useable decorations which is costly per one

Absolutely lovely! My two girls had such a wonderful time. My eldest (8 Years old) had gotten used to coming frequently to the kids crafts club crafts before lockdown, she was keen to get back and excited when I told her she can take her little sister (2 years old)

Very good flexible session where my questions regarding my new Cricut Joy were answered. I was very happy. My only suggestion is that it would be good to have a handout of the basic functions on the app. My worry is I won’t remember the steps when I come to use my new skills. The teacher was excellent however and I liked that I was given the opportunity to ask questions when in store if I need to. Taking away projects completed was good so I can practice further at home.

Teacher was very jolly and generous with her time. I felt that she should have prepared 3/4 specific projects to showcase the cricuts features. She herself didn't know that it could write. Therefore she needs more training. but on the whole an enjoyable experience. No hard sell for which I was grateful.

I had to reschedule my class and the staff were very accommodating in rearranging and even made time for me to bring my little girl at a time that suited me as was unable to make the next planned session.

The teacher Alex was lovely and very helpful as my daughter found some of it a bit tricky but was very patience and so lovely with her. My daughter throughly enjoyed the session and I will definitely be booking her onto other workshops with hobbycraft.

Had a really enjoyable class, I learnt how to apply txt, group, ungroup and weld to create a beautiful cake topper using the circut machine. Having one to one was brillliant and was able to use different materials… the only downside was no seating.
