Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The workshop with Susan was brilliant and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a beginner at sewing.
Susan taught us how to set up the machine and then ran us through all the different stitch types (including stretch stitches). My daughter Rosie then had the chance to practice each stitch and even had a go at making a buttonhole which she managed easily.
We both learnt so much and I cannot recommend Susan highly enough, thank you! Helen and Rosie xx

The class was very helpful, the lady who took the class amazing and very knowledgeable. The sawgrass was running out of ink so the gift wasn’t the best outcome. But she didn’t have time to put new ink into the sawgrass as class was only half hour long.

My just-turned 2 year old and nearly 5 year old loved this “Kids printmaking on canvas” class. Thanks to the wonderful instructor, they were able to join in with the activities and both came away with a lovely colourful canvas each (although only one was a recognisable picture!). I enjoyed watching them get messy and not having to clean up my house! Excellent value for money for the peace of mind and entertainment for an hour of the school holidays.

The class was AMAZING. Just four of us in the group, and we were all knitters, so we had similar expectations, errors and experience.

The teacher was fabulous: she gave us one-on-one guidance and help, let us stretch our skills a teeny bit, and was so encouraging.

The materials provided were decent beginner standard; the teacher gave us recommendations for tools as we progress in the craft.

This is the second Hobbycraft craft class I've done, and I honestly can't recommend them highly enough. Very reasonably priced, well-taught and fun taster sessions.

The class was ok, not sure if it is worth £4/5 per person. Jess the tutor was ok not the most engaging person with the kids and had the feeling she was told to do the class and didn’t really want to do it. Based on this not sure if I would book any more workshops for the kids

Our first visit and it wont be our last. Jessy was my daughter's teacher and she was lovely. She ended up being the only attendee, so we had a great 121 experience. Jessy was very friendly, explained things well and was great with my daughter. Very enjoyable class and would definitely recommend.

I have a cricut for a long time and never used itha I decided to have a one to one with Rebecca. What a time I had! Rebecca was very knowledgeable and an amazing tutor. I was ready to play and away I went. Would have loved more time. I guess I will booking more classes.

Sue our instructor was brilliant. Very knowledgeable and patient. The class of 5 was perfect size which meant Sue could easily spend enough time with each of us in turn. I've been knitting since I was very young, so probably for about 60 years, but wanted to see if I was able to learn crochet. After the class I now feel confident to pursue this new skill! I would highly recommend this class and it's definitely good value for money.

I was made to feel welcome from the start and no question or query was an issue. As a complete beginner, I was really anxious that I wouldn’t be able to take it all in but I have come away feeling really confident that I now know the basics to get me started with using a sewing machine! We booked the Easter bonnet session for our 3 year old as she has an Easter bonnet competition at nursery. We usually do one at home but end up spending a fortune on supplies that we don't use all of and the rest go to waste. We were given a bonnet and a lot of different decorations to choose from which gave my daughter loads of freedom to choose what she would like to do which she loved (and I loved not having to clean up afterwards!). Natasha (our teacher) was super friendly and helpful, providing little tips and assistance to help the kids make fun decorations. The class was amazing value for money and we loved every second of it. My daughter loved her finished hat too! Highly recommend

It was a fun filled craft session, all materials were provided and adults needed for hot glue guns. My child had lots of fun learning how to make grass from foam, flowers from pipe cleaners & how to attach tissue paper to the straw hat. It was value for money

We did the Easter wreath workshop at Hobby craft today ️ There were lots of nice people at the workshop and the staff member was kind and attentive. I would recommend these workshops as a great Saturday morning activity to do with a friend

There were only 3 of us in the class, so we had enough one-to-one time. Sue was patient and encouraging, but it took time to get the hang of how to hold the wool and hook, and the tension in the wool. We managed to learn to start and cast on, and double and treble stitch. Initially I'd thought the class expensive, but after the class I feel it was a good start and I may be motivated to continue. A fabulous start to the half term. We went to the rainbow bead workshop with Rebecca in the Leeds branch. All materials were out ready for us before we arrived and we got started on time. Rebecca was brilliant, very enthusiastic and offered oodles of help to all of the children in the group.

30 minutes would not have been enough to do this activity, but Rebecca told us not to worry as her next workshop wasn't straight away, meaning we had some extra time to finish off. We were very grateful for that extra time. Boxes were given to take the rainbows home, which was very helpful as they are not very sturdy at the beginning as the clay doesn't dry straight away.

My children and their friend really enjoyed their workshop. It kept 5 and 11 year olds interested and it was excellent value for money!

I attended the class this morning in Leeds, having no knowledge of the Cruicut machine I had previously purchased. The one to one class was perfect as we could run through the specifics I wanted to learn and home in on the skills and materials and tools required to achieve successful vinyl cutting.
It was very informative, clear and concise, delivered at the correct pace, excellent value for money and I left feeling more confident.

Really enjoyed this very informative class and learnt a great deal! From no knowledge of crochet stitches I learnt FOUR in this class as well as other relative techniques and tips. The teacher was very patient and helpful (thank you!) and we were given a tote bag, wool and hooks to take away too - another bonus! Amazing session with Susan from the Leeds branch. Susan is an absolute whiz on the machine. I came with several questions about what settings to use on my machine for use of stretchy fabrics. She built my confidence and awareness of many different fuctions within the machine. I was able to get three little projects done within the hour!

Great teacher, very patient and encouraging. Even though I'm left handed, I was able to get to grips with it and learn how to do double crochet, treble and half treble, and make my own square. Been trying to learn for ages via YouTube and couldn't do it. This was definitely worth it, I may actually be able to make things now!

The teacher engaged my 10 year old granddaughter and explained everything clearly. She went through all aspects of using her sewing machine and let her practise all the different functions. This was such a fun class! The artisan very quickly walked us through the basics, and then gave us lots of time to explore the materials and techniques at our own pace. It felt like a really creative space to play with a new craft. They gave us time updates, so we didn't end up rushing, with helpful suggestions at appropriate points in the process. And then, at the very end, we had the fun of making "Frankenbaubles" with spare baubles and the slop bucket. It was just such a great experience, I've already recommended it to crafty friends!

Another fabulous class for kids!
Our 5 year old really enjoyed making the clay models she got to make so many different ones too! Great value for money. Lovely warm welcoming space with only a small group so felt like it was better for the children.

Sue was very enthusiastic and informative.
This was a birthday gift for my 11 year old granddaughter and I to experience together. We had a great time and came away with lots of ideas. The Box of acrylics was larger than I expected with lots of equipment.
Tips
Take a disposable plastic apron if you can.
We did not make coaster but two 20cm x 25 cm canvas.
All good but I had taken containers for coaster, probably think taking pizza boxes or similar would be best.
As there are no facilities for washing take wipes.
Sue kindly washed all of our pouring cups.

So patient and knowledgeable sharing her passion and the history of crocheting so freely it was a perfect balance . I just wish it could have been longer.
The quality of the wool/crochet needles was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. I have been in several different workshops at the Leeds store and cannot praise Rebecca & Sue highly enough. Would highly recommend.

A really good hour was spent making an Easter bonnet. All materials were provided. Jessy (Leeds Crown Point) was really friendly and helpful. Nothing was any trouble for her and she wasn't overbearing, she let us get on with it, but offered advice at appropriate moments. I will definitely book more activities. The teacher was lovely and friendly and put my daughter at ease and was good to talk to. The art supplies were a bit basic and something we could have easily done at home. For the price I thought the colours of paint and pencil were a bit limited and I think my daughter was hoping for something special. We have been to one of the free workshops previously and got clay bunny rabbits to paint. I think my daughter was a bit disappointed. I don't mind paying for an art class if it's something we can't do at home.

We were greeted with an individual pack containing all our artists materials. Susan, our teacher, was absolutely lovely. She explained everything clearly and within minutes had us all using watercolours. Have never used these before but even after this one hour class I feel confident enough to continue using them at home. Was apprehensive about the class being open to shoppers walking by but didn’t even notice them as so busy painting. Would highly recommend this to other beginners.

There is no facilities in store to wash hands after the clay session.there is public toilets next door. A bowl with water and kitchen towel per family would have helped with this.

I chose the work shop for cricut Joy,
My teacher was Rebecca, such a lovely lady, nothing was too much trouble she gave me so much information and said I could record on my phone so easy visually to see,
also she set the cricut Joy up and cut with card and Vinyl, showed me different pressures with the cutting blade and how to get to the screen with different fonts you can use to design

Trish that took the class was really lovely, she was engaging and chatty with the children. The venue was fine, although would have been easier on the ground floor for my sister as she had a pram for her youngest which had to be left downstairs.
The activity itself was good but took far longer than an hour so they all ended up not finishing it which was a shame.

We attended the brush lettering for baubles at Hobbycraft Leeds and the class was taken by a lady called Sue.
Sue was brilliant, patient, encouraging and really helpful at trying to help you get into the techniques. She showed us how to get round some of the tricky letters and was inspiring for our own baubles and what words to put on them.
The hour and a half whizzed by in a flash but we managed to get 4 great baubles finished in this time. It was really relaxing and lovely to get creative with such a pleasant tutor. Well done Hobbycraft on the boxes - my only comment is that it didn’t contain a red brush so doing Holly etc was tricky!

Didn’t feel there was anything new/exciting/interactive about the experience; kids didn’t learn any skills. They just sat and painted the cardboard animals (as they could have at home).
Also no thought given as to how we were to get the wet, painted animals home after the session.

Apart from the lift not working (I'm disabled luckily not in my wheelchair today) this was a great session. Sue was great she helped me on the stairs and carried everything for me. We had a good time chatting about different things how to mix paint & I experimented with different things. Good advice on different things to try. I was pleased with my first attempts.

The kit is a good starting point. You'll be taking your art home so remember to line your car boot with a bin bag or similar in case of paint run.

It was an great experience and the teacher was excellent. The family joining the workshop have recently arrived from trauma in Ukraine. Photographs of them enjoying the workshop will be sent to their fathers, who are serving in the Ukrainian army. This will comfort them that their children are safe and well

Wonderful, helpful and fun staff. Susan and Andy were a blast and Susan was knowledgeable enough to cater to our level and adapt it to suit our needs as we went. This was a surprise gift to my two friends so the presentation of the kitsbto start with was a beautiful and unexpected surprise even for me. Lots of fun. I would have booked a third space for myself if I'd have known to contact you direct I just assumed that all the spaces had been taken not that it was limited to two. Know now that it always worth contacting the store to check numbers of courses that the store have rightly set limits to to ensure excellent service user experience and quality tutor time. As a teacher, who regularly crafts with groups, I was impressed with the service. I will be back for more events! Have lots more photos if you'd like them!

The granny squares blanket was a great workshop. Rebecca is a wonderful teacher and shown real interest in helping me learn crochet. She was able to help me read different types of patterns as well.
I do feel that some of the stitches I learnt were not beginners level. However I managed with Rebecca’s help to learn them.
The blanket is nearly finished and the Cotton blend yarn is soft and lovely to work with.

I enjoyed this course very much. Amy, our tutor was lovely, she explained everything clearly and was very friendly and patient with us when we got in a muddle! Unfortunately we didn't have time to practice all the stitches but Amy explained how to do them before we left. Another 30 minutes would have made all the difference in practicing the stitches and finishing off. I will definitely be booking on more workshops though!

We attended the Egg Machè session with Heather.
It was a lovely hour spent decorating paper based eggs or egg shaped hanging ornaments using tissue paper & glitter glues for decoupage/paper maché. I even got to decorate one myself as the two other children didn't attend.
Heather was absolutely lovely and really helpful. Nothing too much trouble, always smiling and really lovely and engaging with my little man too.
Our session ended but my little man hadn't quite finished, so Heather said because it was the last session we could have a little longer while Heather tidied up
Absolutely recommended and worth the money!

Myself and my son attended the suncatcher painting class run by Jessica. They each had a choice of suncatchers to paint and also an extra to take home too, which was really nice and unexpected.
The sun-catchers my little man chose only had opaque paints for some reason, which kind of defeated the object of it being a sun-catcher (this is the only reason it wasn't a 5* review). Jess had a look and was able to find a spare used paint pot that allowed us to do part opaque part translucent.
Jess was friendly and helpful, there was only one other little girl in our group so she had time to chat a little with our little ones and praise their efforts.

I would recommend to others, I think for £5 it was worth the money.

My kids did come home with 3 of suncatchers. But me and the other customers have to let the staff know the workshop is for 3 of them for each kid. For the beans they provided some yarns for beaded, the yarns are impossible for beaded, the staff then kept saying just dip them in water! How ridiculous is that! I said to the staff have you got any Popper string? She said (use yarns) it was on the brief, I have to show she on the website is string on the brief not yarns! I’m very surprised a craft shop have no correct materials for having a workshop! This is very much is common sense for not using yarns for beaded anyway! And I would suggest if the staffs could spend one minute read the workshop brief, before start it would more helpful.

The class in general is good. The staff very nice, friendly and helpful. Only downside is the cleaning supplies are very bad, the wet wipes for cleaning the kids hand were all dried out, it’s has yellow marks patches on the wipes absolutely terrible! And the staff have to wet them again with water! Because they only have one pack of dried out wet wipes for cleaning! How could a big high street store can provided stuff like this to CUSTOMERS! It was a paid workshop! With a art workshop, cleaning stuffs for guests are very standard! Very disappointed with this store with no hygiene knowledge.

Kids enjoyed it but doesn't need an hour, as there's not enough to do to fill an hour & the kids started to get bored with it towards the end. They weren't shown how to make different shapes with the clay, they were just shown some monsters that had been made as examples & then given the clay. Feathers & eyes were on the table for them to take as they wanted. We had 3 children with us but the demonstrator only concentrated on one child really, showing them how to make some of the monsters on display.

I attended the one to one sewing class to learn how to use my new sewing machine. The cost was £15 and in my opinion was a fair price to pay. My teacher Sue was friendly, kind and very knowledgeable about the sewing machine and all its functions. Materials were provided to enable me to have a play. I was at ease during the whole workshop and have now the confidence to start to make things on my own machine.

5pm class on a Tuesday was a great time to go because the store wasn't busy with lots of people around. Pamela was calm and a great teacher, letting us know how to use the materials (all provided and ours to keep) and giving tips on best types of paper and how it differs from traditional calligraphy. Really glad I booked!

Session was led well and took place upstairs in store. A pack was provided (£10 in store) alongside a glue gun (£5) and glue (£2.50).
As the session cost £35.00 ( and physical resources cost £17:50 plus electric for glue gun) I did not feel it was value for money and the hour was not long enough for us to finish. 5/6 of us had to take our wreaths home to complete.
When you are doing this for the first time; it would have been nice to have been given a copy of the written instructions each and more visual input with more resources than just what comes in a standard box.

The tutor was very helpful. The wreath made looks very good. The box had a variety of materials and the tutor had extras which was very useful. The workshop was on the first floor of the store which was fine but the table was a little small for the number of participants, it was quite cramped. However will look out for future workshops and may book.

This was not the best workshop I have been to but was alright. The little figures did not fit in the globe due to the light bulb so needed sawing. The tutor did not know this and things were a bit disorganised. But still nice overall. I only manged get 1 globe done in the hour due to looking for saw etc

The only poor part of the experience was the member of staff who went to find out where the workshop was being held and (apparently) didn't bother letting us know so that, despite arriving 10 minutes early, we started the workshop late.

the lady was a lovely person but she admitted that she was a poor sub for the person who should have been taking the class. Not really hands on experience i was hoping for and to be honest it was quite boring. /Would need to book more to understand how to really do something. I did not get to touch anything it was just her trying to get the i pad to work and connect to the machine. the Leeds City store is not as nice as the store at Guiseley . My lady tried very hard to make the time a success but I cannot say it was Perhaps it would have been a better experience with the original tutor and I do accept she tried very hard to make everthing work but at the end of the day she couldn't really use the machine herself.

I am a complete beginner to sewing and electric sewing machines. Sue gave me an overview of the functions of a basic electric sewing machine, including threading for preparing bobbins and the needle ready to sew and going through the stitch types and their function.

I purchased a sewing machine after the class and was pleased to be up and sewing shortly after arriving home and unboxing.

Sue was very knowledgeable about sewing and machines and she communicated in a friendly manner encouraging my involvement throughout the session.

I took one of my twin daughters to this lesson as she's really interested in learning more art techniques. She ended up having a one to one session with Sue who was very helpful and informative. She was shown one type of technique to be able to do the practice painting quicker and was talked through other ways of being able to do the floral art picture as well.

The session was great value for money with the pad, paints, brushes, palette & canvas all included.

We have been to 3 different types of classes over the last few years and enjoyed them all. We would definitely book more if they were available.

Our teacher was friendly and helpful, and gave us some great advice when we asked, like about how best to thin and work with the paint and how to create effects with a water wash. I think our teacher would’ve offered guidance unprompted, but chose to let my daughter get on as she was completely engrossed from the first to the last minute.

The venue was light,
Airy and clean- and a real treasure trove which we loved exploring after our lesson.

The materials were of a very good quality to say that it’s a class for 4-7 year olds, and the canvas was a lovely design. We can’t wait to finish it at home.

The class was good value for money- the materials alone were worth nearly the cost of the lesson.

I would definitely recommend this class.

The instructor, Sue, was great, very friendly and extremely helpful and very well prepared and knowledgeable. The venue was the store mezzanine level with plenty of light. I learned how to sew button holes and sew different hems. The time flew and I wanted to stay all day! Good value doe money.

My daughter absolutely loved this class! The instructor, Jenny, was so friendly and helpful and she made it really fun and engaging. Everything was provided and we were able to take home anything she didn’t use in the session. I would highly recommend!

The teacher, sue was fantastic. As a beginner, I wasn't too sure what to expect. I purchased a sewing machine, recommended by Sue and she showed me how to set it up and sew. I had plenty of opportunities to use the machine and ask questions. Brilliant price. Would definitely recommend
