Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

It was great, I wanted to learn more about my machine, although my own machine was different to the ones in class The teacher was very good and very informative and I was shown how to start with the basics like threading the Machine, filling the shuttle, changing needles and more including starting to sew. I now feel more confident about using my machine. Good value for money.

I booked brush lettering for me and my daughter. Everything was ready when we got into store our teacher Beth was very chatty and guided us through shaping our letters and how to hold our pens. We were provided with sheets of letters, pens and a paper pad to use and take with us.

We enjoyed going freestyle on some card and had a go at leaves and flowers. I liked this class as it was at our pace and very relaxing.

Deb was a brilliant tutor, engaging with all the kids and the 2 children that we took loved the interaction and it wasn’t too hard for concentration either.
Deb listened to question and prepared the kids for the next steps… “ make this quite a small ball as the next part is…”
Very good workshop delivered with professionalism from Deb who was a ray of sunshine and very helpful.
We left with 2 lovely models of a sheep and a bunny!

Linda was extremely knowledgeable and explained things very clearly. As an absolute beginner sewer she never made me feel like my questions were obvious or silly. She took time to make sure I had understood her explanation and then made other suggestions on what I might need to know.
I had initially wanted help on reading dress making patterns, which she gave, but she also advised on my particular sewing machine and particular stitches to use for different parts of a project.

The venue at Chesterfield was spacious, and we were able spread patterns out and see things easily.

I am now confident to go and give it a go.

Easter Wreath Making.
I hadn't ever done anything like this before. The teacher Helen was very nice and made the whole experience very enjoyable. The group was for just 5 people which for me was perfect and made for a very pleasant atmosphere. I am very proud of what I achieved and would certainly recommend.

Sharon guided us carefully through the method od making a chain, slip knot, double and treble crochet. Her instructions were clear and she was able to help each person individuslly in the class. She provided tips and advice too. We were provided with wool and a hook. This session has given me the confidence to practice at home as well as remedying errors I was making. I had a 1 to 1 session for the cricut explore machine. My teacher was very knowledgeable about the machine and demonstrated very well even adapting to use her own phone when the connection for the ipad wouldn't work to connect to the machine. I learnt about cutting and drawing using the machine and about the different vinyl materials. It was well worth the cost and I enjoyed being able to be on my own to deal with my questions only. I attended Hobbycraft, Chesterfield for a 1 to 1 class to learn how to use a Cricut Joy.
Vicky was a joy herself, personable and knowledgeable and her friendly manner made the experience a delight.
I learned the things I wanted to know and was able to backtrack, have it explained again and ask "what if " questions.
It was well worth the time spent and good value for the money. So good that I already booked another session.

Our Hama Bead session we booked for 5 children- 2 were 10/11 years old and the other 3 were in reception class. It seemed to suit them all. Each chose a Hama bead backing shape like a horse, boat, car, etc and then the helpful assistant Jenny, gave them the pallet of beads each or to share, and the children got started. It was just half an hour, but enabled them to finish their design and then wait for Jenny to melt them in place. The venue was good and parking nearby. The plus was that they all took a Hama Bead kit home with them! Very good value for money really.

What a shame these workshops weren’t attended by more. We were the only one on the snowman countdown workshop. Deb was great, my daughter can be incredibly shy and not talk to people, but Deb got her chatting straight away and made sure she did the activity to her age level. It would have been great if more people attended. We are looking forward to the next one!

Hi, Sam was lovely but this isn’t a workshop, it’s not even a tutorial, I would have learnt no more or jo less if I had just walked in off the street and asked at the desk about the products and saved £25, there was no “workshop” and the app didn’t even work. Small class of five. Instruction was verbal as the example of the completed wreath was already done. Friendly member of staff and liked my finished wreath.
Slight downside-the crafting table is in the middle of the upper floor sales area where shoppers are milling around and I felt self conscious.

We really enjoyed dipping the baubles and the right number of baubles were provided for the time available. There were plenty of materials to use to decorate them.
We asked for the date and time which suited us and got a quick reply to say that Hobbycraft would run the workshop for us then.

I really enjoyed this wreath making workshop. The Teacher was lovely and really talked to the group to decide what we wanted. She gave us clear instructions but told us we can make it how we want to. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't be as great as it was, as the wreath itself was already made. Please don't let that put you off.

With clear instructions and encouragement from our friendly teacher Beth we learned the basic brush lettering techniques using alphabet templates. A numbers template would have been useful too.

The Pritt glue we used was really good. The teacher Vicky was very helpful and ready to assist when requested. The project was a little daunting for the very neat and tidy ones who tried to cut their tissue paper to an exact fitbut mostly it was finished within the hour

We visited the Chesterfield branch for this workshop with five of our grandchildren, and wouldn’t hesitate to book another one! Jenny was so lovely and was really helpful and kind to all of the children. Nothing was too much trouble. I have visited this branch on 2 separate occasions now and on both visits all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Thank you also to all the staff who managed to get to the branch on Saturday despite horrendous floods right next to the shop. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Our leader was really friendly and helpful and there were plenty of resources for all the children.

My child whose three did struggle with using the pipe cleaners but that's simply because he hasn't used them much before.

The teacher was lovely. Explained everything well and interacted with the adults and kids that were there.

There was more than enough accessories for each child.

Something a little different, gets the kids out of the house and for £5 it's really good.

We weren't limited on how many things we could use. Just a guideline.

Did the creature clay workshop. The teacher was lovely and helpful. The lightweight clay was nice and easy to use. Both my kids who are 7 and 3 really enjoyed it and had enough time to make 5 little creatures so great value for money. Would highly recommend. This was our first workshop with Hobbycraft but will definitely be back for more in the future.

Jenny was lovely with the children, she explained things well and gave help when and where it was wanted. Slightly disorganised in the sense that she kept having to fetch things that were needed,eg scissors to cut the tape, kitchen roll to dry wet paintbrushes, but over all a very good class, my granddaughter enjoyed herself.

Initially the store had me down for a crochet lesson as there was a mix up with information given to store but it wasn’t a problem for them. Linda was very friendly and really helpful in explaining and showing me how to master two knitting stitches I was having trouble understanding. She also showed me how to sew 2 pieces of knitting together so the seam didn’t show, which I found amazing. I would recommend this one to one session to anyone. I asked if she could teach my 8 year old grandson how to knit as I was having trouble showing him and it is possible so I will be taking him along soon.

Class was brilliant - knowledgeable friendly teacher and a nice set of items to take away. The outcome was good and I felt like I learned lots to improve my watercolour paintings.
The only negative is the three hour parking limit at the store. I would have preferred to have time to wander, get a coffee etc. It took about 10 minutes to find a space and the queue to get out was awful. Would do another course, but probably not at Chesterfield.

Really good workshop although some confusion at first as they were not expecting me. Dean was an excellent tutor giving me encouragement throughout. Although I wasn’t very good as this was my first attempt at watercolour painting I was encouraged and given lots of tips on techniques.

The venue was great with free parking and evening appointments that were easy to book.
The Tutor was absolutely fantastic, she was friendly, helpful, and had great knowledge of my machine, the products available, techniques for making projects, and Design Space.
I came away with a lot more knowledge, skills and confidence.
The class was on offer at a discounted rate which made it fantastic value for money.
I would definitely recommend the class and the Tutor.

Helen was a fantastic, knowledgeable and patient tutor. The session was good fun and the kit provided of great quality.
The only downside was that due to the nature of the session we got a little messy with paint, the only place to clean was downstairs in the staff toilet. Wet wipes would have been nice to clean up as we went along. Also with the heat the provision of drinking water would have been greatly appreciated.

Huge thank you to Niamh at Chesterfield Hobbycraft. I was her only student at the Wildlife Watercolour class.
I haven’t picked up a paintbrush since Junior School and really hadn’t got a clue where to start. Niamh showed me some basic techniques for getting various shades and how to develop the picture. She was very patient. The kit provided was really good value. I have everything I need to practice what I’ve learned. Thank you

Fabulous 1 1/2 hour session with Sharon No one else turned up so it was a lovely one to one session. Being left handed it was a bit more awkward for Sharon but she was very patient Its a lovely setting upstairs in the store and I came away with 2 lovely balls of wool, a crochet hook and set of instructions which although for right handed people will be easy to follow. All of this in a cotton bag.
Really good value for money and great experience for someone with no crochet experience at all.

Really good introduction to crochet. Lovely materials provided. Instructor was really good and explained the basic stitches well. One to one session which was in the upper sales floor. No problem with that at all. I really enjoyed it and hope to continue with crochet. I’ll definitely look at Hobbycraft’s programme and book another workshop if I see something that appeals to me.

My children really enjoyed the experience. They loved that they got to make and bring home an Easter bunny and duck.
The materials were great and they learnt some new techniques.
My only negative is that it felt a little rushed for a 30 minute session, there was too many things for little hands to make, a 1 hour session would have been more appropriate.
I have recommended to friends to try out the classes as all we have done at Chesterfield have been lots of fun with wonderful instructors.

The children enjoyed making these bunny kits up and also the pin wheels. The teacher, Jenny, once again, excelled! She was positive enthusiastic and helpful and the children really liked her. The windmills were a good idea, but once made up they didn't spin very well. This was the only slightly negative point, I may add! It was very clear which way the children had to take to reach the craft session with helpful stickers on the floor, guiding them.

Really good experience. The teacher, Jenny, could not be improved upon - nothing was too much trouble and she even went over the time in her willingness to help the children. There were plenty of materials to work with and the venue was tidy and worked well. The cost of the session was very reasonable when considering the materials supplied and offered.

My son had a lovely time creating his very own easter sign. The teacher was very enthusiastic, friendly & helpful. There were lots of materials available to use. It took him the full hour ( and longer) to make his sign. I would definitely recommend going & I will be booking more classes in the future.

Niamh was an extremely personable young lady with it being a one to one group she was able to chat easily and relate to me as an individual. She was knowledgeable about the basic techniques and able to demonstrate variances in methods and the different results achieved.
She gave praise and encouragement throughout and made me feel relaxed and confident in my efforts.
The resources were suitable for the task with plenty left over to take home and practice my new learnt skills with.
Overall an excellent introduction to watercolour and good value for money.

My teacher was very easy to understand and she took her time to help me learn everything I needed to learn it was easier than I thought it would be and I also had fun and made a little pouch using corners and tried various stitches and helped me understand all the dials and switches and the needle sizes for different materials would definitely recommend this class for anyone starting out at sewing especially on one of your machines. I would like further tutelage on making something on the sewing machine like a pencil case with a zipper or a phone wallet or something similar and maybe also making clothes eventually from a pattern would be good.

Took my granddaughter to a personalised canvas painting workshop led by Helen who was lovely. She had some great ideas not only for the canvas painting but also other crafting ideas.
A wide selection of coloured paints were available and my granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was proud of her completed art work.
She's now asked about doing another craft workshop in the near future.
All in all, a very enjoyable hour.

I loved the workshop. The facilitator was lovely and patient. She was able to guide us through the techniques, giving clear directions and tips. There were four in the group, we had come as two pairs, a mum and daugther, and sister-in-laws, we got on well and this added to the experience. The kit was fab and I can't wait to have another go at home. Can thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to have a dabble.

Wonderful craft messy but nothing that will damage clothes. Teacher were wonderful and so helpful. I would definitely do this again with the kids. I would say you may struggle if not 1 adult one child with younger ones. Kids were very pleased with themselves.

In any case, it is worth attending this course, the materials are excellent and the opportunity to share with other people in person is always entertaining. Yes, I would have liked an introduction to watercolor, what are the techniques, what we are going to learn, not start doing the painting at once, thinking that there are people like me who were our first time. But I would attend again anyway to Hobby craft workshops and I will.

It would have been useful to be more hands on with our own Ipad and maybe a hand out to help with the note taking, explaining all the functions etc.
The lady was lovely though and had excellent product knowledge and an obvious passion for crafting.

The course tutor was very approachable and supportive. However I was disappointed that this was using prepared wreath as I thought we were making the wreath. Also I could have as easily followed instructions on what to do online and made this at home. There was nothing to learn.
Having said that this was an enjoyable session meeting others.

Great course. Barbara was very patient amd explained everything well. You get 2 balls of yarn and a crotchet hook as well as illustrated instructions in your kit. Definitely worth the money.

I went to get a better understanding of design space. It was OK. It’s a complicated subject and I’m not sure I’m any further on with understanding it - practice is the only way forward!
Annoying customer kept interrupting which was unavoidable. The teacher managed this well. Got some good design ideas and tips which was really helpful.

My friend and I enjoyed the workshop . Vicky (Minnie spies) was helpful, supportive and patient . The craft box supplied was very comprehensive.
My only comment and this is not a criticism was that there wasn’t another assistant available to help customers and Vicky had to keep nipping off to help customers who were shopping. This was unfortunate for her and had the class been busier could have been a problem

The teacher is very knowledgeable and helpful. It's amazing how she can work out how to use any machine. Linda is very patient. The classes are excellent value for money, worth every penny. My sewing machine worked perfectly after Linda sorted it out and she has done the same with my overlocker. I had absolutely no idea how the overlocker worked until Linda demonstrated. My son in law gave it to me or I wouldn't have bought one and it has been stuck in a cupboard for about 6 years. I will be able to use it now, thanks to Linda.

Once again a great workshop at Hobbycraft Chesterfield.
The kit we received contained enough material for us to use at home after the workshop.
Helen was lovely and explained the techniques really well to us, giving us tips to try the craft at home.

The Chesterfield store had a great area upstairs where the workshop took place. All equipment was provided. The teacher was brilliant, (sadly I can not remember her name!) We had a lovely chat & a good laugh, but her advice and ideas were great and helped me a lot. It was just the two of us so I was extremely lucky to have one to one. I will definitely book another Worksop.

An enjoyable experience, everything was explained really well by the tutor who was really helpful. The workshop area was really open and light with plenty of room to work. The only thing I would say is that we could have done with a bit more time to complete the wreath. But the tutor did say she would stay with us until we had completed the wreath. I would definitely join another workshop in the future.

Our teacher Deb was wonderful and really helped our little boys age 3&5 to engage in the activity and learn new skills. We were delayed by a traffic jam but Deb still allowed the children to participate & even stayed longer to help them finish their clay creations. There was a great variety of materials provided for our wreath workshop so we were able to put our personal touch on the wreaths.

It was good value for money considering the wreaths that we came out with. Definitely recommend this workshop!

U and 2 friends attended the workshop. We felt that the description of the workshop was misleading as we all expected to make 2 framed pictures. Helen our instructor was very inspiring and helpful. We feel that we should have been advised to leave the pictures at Hobbycraft for 48 hours as one spoilt in transit. However we did have a lovely time and are delighted with our pictures. The course did represent value for money.

Helen took the mystery out of paint pouring and has given me the confidence to try different techniques. We did three types of pour and I got to take my three paintings home. Helen took time to explain how the paints would interact at each pour and took the class at a very manageable pace. I really enjoyed my class!

Hi, a great bit of teaching a man how to use a sewing machine, threading the spool, fitting it, simple stiching, adjusting the length of stich, different types of stiching, adjusting the tension, making a simple button hole. thinking of buying the identical sewing machine that is on sale at Hobbycraft for £80.

This is the second workshop I've attended at Hobbycrafy Chesterfield and I've once again had a great experience!
Beth was lovely and very patient, and gave me lots of useful tips to improve my sewing skills.
It was perfectly accessible for a beginner and the material and resources provided in the workshop box were really good. It even came with a pair of fabric scissors, chalks, pins, safety pins, and enough fat quarters to make many more of those bags at home!
It's definitely amazing value for money and the 1h30 was a perfect amount of time for the workshop. I was able to make 2 bags during that time.
I would definitely recommend for anyone who is starting their sewing journey and would like to build up their confidence!

The lady (I think her name was Shelly) was very kind and patient with me even though I had no idea what I was doing and kept getting it wrong, I’ve never crocheted triangles before, but now I know what I’m doing, and she took the time to answer all my questions, and have a chat, all in all an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone!

I took my 6 year old daughter to make the clay monsters. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. The member of staff gave out the clay and showed everyone some examples and then allowed everyone to get on with constructing their models offering help and guidance if needed. My daughter loved it and it was well worth the money.

Kids (and I) loved it. Lots of material available to make whatever their imagination wanted. A bit of a lack of tuition but some may like that. I personally prefer a bit more guidance. Would definitely recommend it though.

when I arrived I was asked what sewing machine I had home and was told they did not have that one and I should have brought my own. Before going to the class I checked on the website and it specifically says do not take your own machine so I was confused.

The teacher was good and demonstrated how the machine she was using worked. I had a go too.

Perhaps it should say on the website that this a generic lesson as machines vary.

The lady teaching me was really patient and lovely. I literally knew nothing about sewing and hadn’t even got mine out of the box at home.
We started with threading etc and by the end of the lesson, I could sew straight lines/circles/corners.

Every time I visit the chesterfield store all the staff are really helpful and informative, this is why I had the courage to sign up for the workshop and I’m really glad I did this for myself…. Being new to Cricut I was a bit unsure where to start apart from labelling my tea, coffee, sugar jars. The lady Sam was very friendly and gave me lots of ideas and tips what what my machine can do and asked what I was wanting to achieve and how different materials worked. Highly recommend to anyone new to Cricut.

Wasn’t able to attend unfortunately but rang the store after the fact and was able to have the box put aside and I collected the next day. The box had been opened and some minor items missing/used but I should’ve rang before the session, no problem.

Barbara was the lady who led the session today. She was lovely, friendly and approachable.
The box contained everything as advertised. I was a little disappointed that the colour was bland (just green and cream) a splash of red would have been appreciated or a pine cone or two.
I felt the class would have been better if there was more of a structured teacher/pupil approach. I am very new to crafting and felt a little out of my depth being left to my own devices.

So enjoyable. Barbara - the lovely teacher - was patient, supportive and made me feel at ease straight away. At 56 years old you’d think I could use a sewing machine but I was scared stiff of it. Barbara had me sewing in minutes and I left the workshop armed with the basics and confidence to go home and have a go by myself. I would highly recommend this workshop.
