Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The kids did enjoy it, but I felt it was very rushed and not well planned. I had to ask for water to clean the brushes. The paint didn’t print very well (it was too watery) and the workshop host didn’t explain things very well. It almost felt like she didn’t want to be there.
For the price it about covered the materials otherwise I’d have complained.

Crochet beginners, Eden the tutor gave clear demonstrations she was very patient and approachable, a group of 4 so plenty of time to help everyone and very informative, learnt basic stitches also advised about the different yarns. The colleague that did my class was a great help with showing how to get started with my machine. Although my exact machine wasn't available to use, she was knowledgeable on all the machines available in the store and was able to talk me through each aspect my machine had.

Attended the beginners crochet class today at Cheltenham Hobbycraft. The instructor Eden was lovely, initially showing us from making a slip knot to start a chain to us all making a square of double & treble crochet. Eden took time with each person as needed to support the individual learning.

Lovely class with a lovely teacher. Small group so there were group instructions but then a lot of individual attention where different group members were working on different things. Really pleased to have crocheted a little square. Lots of tips from the teacher for further instruction. I would book again!

A fantastic one-one crochet session. My teacher was kind and patient. She explained the instructions very carefully. With it being a one-one I could go at my own pace and ask specific questions. We were able to cover changing yarn, increasing and decreasing stitches, magic ring and working in the round. It was an extra treat to take away two balls of yarn and a crochet hook. I now have lots of techniques to revisit and practice. Excellent value for money, I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

I took my 5 year old nephew a few weeks ago to make baubles and he really enjoyed it so decided to sign up to the clay figure one with him. When we walked into the shop he said he hoped it was Eden again and it was ( this was so lovely to hear as he has additional needs). Eden was so patient with him and made the activity really fun. It was a small class which was good as you were given individual attention. The teacher was very patient as I couldn’t seem to pick up the technique straight away and something that will need to be worked on. The hands on approach much better than being shown a tutorial and you are being watched every step and you are guided in the right direction. Practice will make things easier and I was given a website to visit for extra help. It was a good introduction to crochet. Came away with 2 balls of wool, a crochet hook and the piece of crochet done during the class. Would recommend anyone interested in starting to crochet to book a session.

I attended the Christmas decoration class with my 2 daughters, aged 8 and 6. The teacher (Eden at Cheltenham Hobbycraft) was wonderful with the children. The teacher was super helpful, gave some inspiration and supported the children when it was needed. She praised them for their efforts and this really boosted their confidence. The materials were all great and it has made me buy more so we can replicate the craft at home!

A patient, fun & engaging instructor.
It was ok being at an open table in the shop apart from other customers asking where items are located.
Primary colours used for demo/workshop.
It was a good introduction to the craft, the session did feel rushed towards the end and the items didn’t fully dry to then transport home.
Ceramic marbling, similar to hydro dipping - liked how no 2 items are the same.
I purchased the paints and have now dipped all the ceramic decs I’ve been buying over the years!

Tracey-Jane was so lovely, we clicked immediately.
Venue was fine, we may of struggled if more than 2 of us.
Loved the materials and Tracey showed us many different ways to use them.
We learnt how to make an autumn wreath, it was a great hour!

I have always taken my daughter to hobby craft work shops and recommended them to family and friends, even with the increase in price. However this time I was a little disappointed as although the signs were of good quality there was not a lot of choice of things to design the sign with. We also only had one pack of pens to share between everyone. Although the staff member was very lovely and took an interest in all the children present. Amazing class The teacher was so lovely, explained everything to the last detail and we even had 1-2-1 lesson as there was just two of us in the class. All materials provided. Teacher was great ( Melissa), explained well, gave help when needed and was very patient as we were a private session who talk lots. Table was quite small for 6 but we made do- 2 power outlets would have maybe been a problem if we didn't know each other. Loved materials and the amount given, workshop gave great ideas. Amazing value!

Today we attended our first craft workshop at Hobbycraft Cheltenham with my 5 & 7 year olds. From arrival the teacher was calm and engaging. She skilfully taught the techniques, encouraging independent creativity along the way.
This session has inspired us to do further clay modelling at home.
A superb course which was great value for money. We shall be looking to book subsequent similar sessions in future and recommending to our friends. My daughter is now sharing her masterpieces with anyone who visits. Thank you Hobbycraft.

Such a wonderful time! Unfortunately the pumpkins had been damaged during delivery but Chris emailed us in advance with a great alternative! We made clay bats and ghosts and my little girl loved it So much so, we then had to buy some more clay on the way home to carry on the creations at home! So great, Chris was wonderful too and so encouraging and kind!

Just had a lesson with Tracy she showed me around my sewing machine, as I hadn't used it for some years. She was really knowledge, and has helped me with choices on thread, zips and interfacing. She was really helpful and encouraging. The facilities are excelent in the Cheltenham branch, and they stock a good selection of fabrics etc.

Good value for money and good materials provided. Glad the shop wasn't busy though as we were on the shop floor and in the public eye, with customers asking the tutor questions through the class. Tracey was very accommodating and patient and we did cover a lot. Not sure what to do with it now, as no information on what projects a beginner could do or how to read patterns.

My children had a great time. I'm not sure if the teacher was nervous but they didn't really interact with us or the children. They did a model of their own but didn't explain how to do it so we ended up following the paper instructions. It was value for money as my children made a few models out of 1 packet of clay. This is the second Hobbycraft workshop we have done and would love to come back for another.

The instructor was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She went through the Cricut techniques quite fast, but covered the points I asked about and was happy to go over certain points again. I should probably have done more myself rather than just watching, as it's easier to learn that way. But generally it was very useful and I will do further workshops with you.

I really enjopyed the session and got a great deal from it. I have been using machines like this for over 20 years in schools but software and drivers esepcially have rendered most of the machines unusable. So time to have a look at these. Have spent a lot of time reading about them, good and bad reviews, wathcing you tube and looking at them in store but nothing beats having a 1:1 look at them. They look to be very versatile machines and we will be buying one of the bigger machnies this school year and possible some of the smaller vinyl cutters next year.

On the plus side I was the only attendee which gave me more one to one time and discussion with Ben. The down side of this was that There were no discussions or exchange of ideas with a group of people. Had I been informed that I was the only one, I might have deferred to a later date with more people.

Met Emily in the foyer of shop and she took me upstairs and handed me a box full of the Cloche making goodies including a glue gun! Emily was lovely and guided me through how to put together and decorate two cloches.
Enjoyed the Course which was thoroughly worth the money.
Definitely highly recommend. I was lucky as I had a one to one with Emily and we had fun chatting.

I was a little disappointed with the brush lettering workshop.
Emily who ran the class was very nice , but was not experienced as she had only done the lettering herself once before.
It was just simply copying letters on a piece of paper , not very interesting and was very hard to make the lettering pens do the thin strokes . I felt they were too soft and would have been better with proper thick/thin calligraphy pens .
To conclude it was poor value for money . And something I could have easily done at home myself.

Having been to a couple of workshops I felt that this one was average. We had some clay, star cutters, 2 stamps and tools but not much else. There were no suggestions for designs and so we ended up searching the internet for inspiration. As we were limited in materials most of us left early to carry on at home using stamps, paints, foliage etc that we had. We needed some creative help and more materials to use at the workshop.

Teacher was good but perhaps a bit more explanation and guidance from her on what to do or some ideas given would have been more helpful and better. We were all beginners and some did not know what to do. Venue was good and so were materials. Perhaps some red berries to add a bit of colour would have been better in the frosted Christmas wreath, as a bit plain being just green and white. The class was good value for money. I learnt how to make a wreath and would do it again.

I went to a sewing machine workshop at Cheltenham Hobbycraft. Tracy was the teacher’s name and she was absolutely fantastic. I’m a complete beginner to sewing, Tracy had to show me everything about how to use the machine and how to set it up. We went through all of the different stitches and I learnt so much. My 1 on 1 tuition was great the young lady teaching me was very patient as I’ve never used a cricut machine before it was very daunting to start with and she gave me the confidence to use the cricut machine there was lots of space and so much materials to try out different projects , great value for money ,I will be booking my self in for more tuition with other projects I was so pleased with the whole experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my session today. Tracy was very knowledgeable and patient as I am a complete beginner. Thread and fabric was provided and Tracy made sure that all of the functions of my new sewing machine were explained and explored fully. I feel I have the confidence to explore my sewing machine now at home and feel really inspired to start making beautiful things!

Hobby craft Cheltenham is a large well stocked store. The staff are all very friendly. Some technical IT issues ( I do IT myself) meant that I wasn’t able to complete the 1:1 session but the 3 staff I dealt with did absolutely everything they could possibly do - we managed about 15 mins of the hour session but they have invited me back to re-do the session next week. I will definitely book more sessions the staff were knowledgeable, chatty and I will recommend the sessions to friends who have ‘ cricut’ machines.

Excellent session. Emily, as always was brilliant. The children were so excited about the boxes (very practical as it was raining when we left). Superb equipment. Wish the session was longer, as 1 hour was very rushed and paint could not dry before next layer. Thanks
